Interesting matchup between an offensive and defensive character.

Kitana does her best work in this match up close and personal. Jumping in against Scorpion is usually dumb, but Kitana can cancel it out with an air fan. For this reason, the IAF is a much better alternative since Scorpion is far less likely to aaRH or teleport away from it. Most Scorpions will try to play keep away as per usual. Buffering the fan lift in the opposite direction will often allow Kitana to catch Scorp and land her 50% combo. Other than that, apply mad CQC when in close. Don't bother with crossovers as Scorp will break them up with an air throw.

Scorpion is best suited to playing defense here, though he can do some damage up close. Counter jump-ins with either an aaRH or a spear if the jump was from full screen. Telepunch all fan tosses, except IAF as those can still be blocked. Kitana does have the threat of a fan lift, so don't be stupid about jumping in. Crossovers while constantly mashing block for an air throw can work.

A very intense and close match for sure. Kitana probably has the edge here by about 6-4.

Kitana's Bodyguard
This is probably the matchup I've played the most in MK2.
I always start out playing people by picking Kitana, and I'd say 70% of people I play choose Scorpion as a counter that first match.

KITANA
She has the advantage here, but it's still a fairly close match.
She wants to be aggressive but Scorpion can play keep-away pretty well.
Best scenario for Kitana is trapping him in a corner, where he can't teleport out. And if she catches him in a fan raise, he can say bye-bye to 75% of his life. Because he can almost always teleport away from her, it can be tiring to constantly try chasing Scorpion down. So when that happens, let Scorpion come to you and instant fan raise him. Block all telepunches and instantly fan raise. I've never had a problem doing crossovers with Kitana vs any Scorpions MKillBill ;)

SCORPION
He needs to stay away to win, unless you can pressure her with crossovers and air throws. Bait her and aaHK all her jump-ins. AVOID putting yourself in a corner, or you're in big trouble. Walk-forward instant spears work well against everyone except elites who will be expecting it. Instant spears from crouch also work well, but are less surprising than walk-forward ones. The threat of his spear and/or telepunch forces Kitana to play a little more defensive than vs most other characters. Only spear from afar however- if she blocks a spear up close, she can fan raise you, or at very least sweep.

On paper this seems like an 8-2 match for Kitana. But in reality, an elite Scorpion is incredibly tricky and evasive.

6-4 for Kitana.

Given the fact that Kitana can low toe under Scorpion's jks, she can actually be just as much of a turtler in this matchup as Scorpion. One thing I've noticed that becomes particularly handy for Kitana in this matchup is that Scorpion's hitbox is very large after he throws a spear, so he can literally be swept from nearly half the screen away. Alot of people don't realize this though.

Agreed with Scorpion's hitbox being large after a spear toss. It's just like Baraka after a blade spark (a big reason why his projectile sucks ass.)

Exactly, and I can't believe how many Scorpion players don't realize this. They continuously throw spears at me from sweep while I'm blocking.
Then they stand there looking confused when I immediately rush them and jab them to death :D

Low toe is laughably one of Kitana's biggest weapons in this match. It takes away Scorpion's ability to pressure her as well as he can others.

uggg, this is my nightmare match. pfft, try this against Yungniccas scorpion lets say for old times sake since hes back.

this is my hardest match in all MK2 I think., kit/scorp matches, fuckin-A im already stressed thinking about it

This match is not bad for Kitana once you learn the right blend of offense and defense for it.

Yungnicca aka Str8Magnificent and I are buds and we have done this match up many times. He has one of the greatest Scorpions ever, but my Kitana gives him nightmares. I bet he'd say he would rather fight Mileena than a good Kitana?
