Strategy Anti-zoning: Shake vs. Teleport punch

I was hoping to get other folks' ideas regarding their anti-zoning strategies against different characters.

Some characters can mix regular projectiles and physical projectiles like Kano's knives and balls, Liu Kang's fireballs and flying and bicycle kicks, Raiden's lightning and superman, Kitana's fans and square wave, etc.

Some other characters like Ermac and Kenshi can zone with attacks that can't be countered by regular shake.

Some slower projectiles like Reptile's slow ball and cyrax's net can catch you on the second hit of teleport punch if you do it too quickly on reaction.

Anyway I would hope you guys would share which strategies have been most successful.

Smoke bomb is my go to trade unless I have really low health or it's a low iAFB. Faster, consistent, and leads to resets.

Smoke bomb is great, but it doesn't counter "physical" projectiles like Kano's ball (amongst others). Also I've experienced some pushback on other projectiles that don't allow a combo off of a traded smoke bomb. I was hoping people could relate some character/projectile specific strategies.

Also a shake parry leaves you closer to the opponent than a teleport punch. That comes into play with characters you would rather stay away from vs. pressure.

I don't play Runescape
I thought Shake was more reliable, but Teleport was more damaging. That's the way I always saw it.

Anyways, you can shake with a 0f startup so there's not really any reason to ever not shake a projectile... teleport punishing non shakable moves like ermac/shang/kenshi is not a good idea, better to trade with sb if possible or just block it.... risk/reward of a teleport is not worth it imo

Check the recovery frames. In cases where the thing is punishable, opt for a full combo punish. Jade's low projectile within jump range is free for example if you jump over it.

I'll give info against Shang:
Only teleport at fullscreen. You don't have the time to react everytime to the correct skull, but if you see shang rising his hands, just teleport. You may shake and shang may throw a in-front-upskull and then punish you with a full combo, so bear that in mind.

his F4, GS has a 4f window in which you can shake and nullify his pressure. Upclose, almost all of his strings are interruptable, so he can't play that game with you.

IMO, if you want to stay away and not take chip, you can smoke away/towards through projectiles instead of shake/tele.

Characters with "physical projectiles" like Raiden, Kano, Kang, are extremely punishable. Just block and combo punish. Trading SB with Kenshi can work, but his start ups are faster so you kinda have to anticipate them.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
Is Smoke's smoke dash punishable in any way? Like does it involve a short recovery after the dash they can use to punish you for trying to smoke dash through zoning? I'd hate to try to get past a projectile only to eat a combo or something.

Ya, I should mention that it's only really safe to smoke through projectiles at full screen. Smoke towards especially leaves you very vulnerable

I thought it felt punishable, but that post had me confused there. Thanks for clearing that up. Odd thought, but can he EX cancel the recovery to make it safe using an enhanced version of something else?

No. Maybe there's some situations you can EX Shake but that's about it

Depends on the situation. In the Reptile mu, its best to use telepunch on his force balls . Shake doesn't cut it against slow ones. That and he can cancel them.

Why doesn't shake cut it on slow FB's? I love watching reptiles freak out as that slow ass forceball comes creeping towards me while I'm in shake.

From experience, Reptiles love baiting Shake with slow force balls; after they use them, they elbow dash towards Smoke faster than the projectile approaching. It may or may not work depending on the Reptile player, and your position on the screen.

You can stuff a forceball before it comes out with a telepunch though, regardless of who you're playing.

Sounds reasonable, probably a safer option to tele. I know this Reptile set-up very well, but I can't say that I've had the lizard reach me before I can shake the forceball. Also, after you TP this set up a couple times, won't they just block your TP and full combo punish? Meh, I guess it really depends on your distance from him.

Guess it depends on how fast you react. As you see the FB coming out, tele avoids the risk of rep reaching you before you can shake. Towards the end of the animation, I think Rep has time to block. Don't know the frames on this one.
