Trying to improve my zoning with Reptile

I picked up this game a few months ago and have gotten really into it, going to local tournaments and such. I play a couple characters but Reptile was my original main and I've decided to revisit him. I feel like my zoning game could use some work though. Any tips/tricks?

lol reptile zoning is so braindead, serious talk. Like the only reason you should zone is to build meter and start your offense.

Slow fb is the key, get that shit out ASAP. Then follow up by a fast fb, dash to get in pressure, or spit to your opponent tries to jump over the fb. Ex slow fb also helps your zoning by throwing out a fast fb/spit/dash in pressure. Other than that, reptile "pure zoning" isnt that good. He uses zoning to start his close range offense.

i disagree i believe his zoning is def top 7 maybe top 5 in the game and zoning for reptile is key in some matchups

Dude reptile doesnt "zone", he can not zone to win any MU... Period. He zones to build meter or start his pressure. Getting a fb on the screen and then dash in isnt zoning.

So I guess this question is more about pressure, but when you get a sfb on the screen and dash up in their face, what are your options?
I usually just start wailing on them with pieces of 321 with a AH/slide mixup at the end. Sometimes I b4 (pushes them back away from the sfb, maintaining pressure). Anything else I'm missing?

if you get a slow fb out you can outzone most of the cast
Theres a different between zoning/anti zoning and good zoning character. Reptile is not a good zoning character because 2-3 dashes and reptile zoning is done, reptile doesnt have any push back in his zoning at all. In a cyrax mu, 1 dash is enough to stop reptile zoning because then he can starting to trade with nets. Thats why you only zone to build meter/start pressure. Theres 0 mu where reptile zone 100% of the time. Even with JC mu, you use your zoning to build meter or gain pressure advantage, doing pure zoning isnt gonna stop JC to go in on you. Reptile zoning isnt strong enough.

Reptile is a good counter zoning character because he can outzone people, he can force people to get in on him instead of the other way around. But he cant zone for shit because his zoning is mediocre. Counter reptile zoning: dash up and block.... so hard.

Your best options IMO are d4 acid hand, d4 d4, f2 acid hand, 321 staggers + acid hand, standing 1 and staggering 122 ending with eith acid hand or b1, d4 ffb, d4 invis,

As for the zoning its all about full screen and using the best walk back in the game as they try and get in. with dash and a fast backward walk you can really mess with their spacing forcing a bad jump or keeping them on block or frustrate them into a trade in your favor.

You guys are crazy if your zoning cyrax dat net trade is awful and its bound to happen.

i had my lesson , "zoning" it's important for reptile . I ussualy use it against sub zero and cage because i don't really know how to deal with cage up close . I will be glad if somebody can help me with a advice and tell me what characters can be outzoned by reptile . thank you

He's not really going to keep anyone out for that long IMO. His projectiles are slow but very effective when on screen. Characters like katana and sub have trouble once reptile gets a force ball all on screen, but in turn can be an annoyance if they start their offense first.
