Reptile-Kabal MU, Some advice would be awesome

This match up has been a pain for me for a long time. I don't know if its just me being fucked over by shitty online inputs and dropping simple combos or if its me not knowing the match up. This is tough for me to the point where I can lose to a lot of online reptiles. Maybe my kryptonite is online reptiles.

If any of you guys want to give some advice, let me know.

My set against TylerLantern starts @1:44:43
Tyler is really good so none of this is me trying to say that I would beat him offline. I really can't tell if its me having a lot of input errors online or not.

Also my set against EGP Krayzie is at 0:46:18 for those that want to see
I was surprised I made the come back that I did. :3

Not trying to complain or make excuses but I felt like I was under a lot of pressure so trying to get used to the lagg was tough. There were a lot of times I choked really bad

It's all about spacing lulz. Keep about a jump distance away. This makes it easy to jump in punch over FBs, EX dash, and ample reaction time to punish elbow dash with F4. Stay in that zone and the opportunities will come to you. D4 and Zoning actually are effective here, but you have to be on point with timing, spacing and height, if you can't do perfect then it's not worth trying because you will get blown up by his anti-zoning. When he EX dashes you, you can EX dash him or NJP him as he goes between you.
I really like this MU now with Kabal but I used to hate it too

I'll try some of this when I fight another online reptile.
The main problem I have online is me failing on punishing the dash with f4 and not being able to blow up his ex dash. My inputs usually turn out bad. Do any Reptile mains want to play later with me? I can't learn the mu playing random ass reptiles. Thanks relaxed

Go to main menu and choose versus instead of online.
This is something I never thought about trying. I'll totally give this a shot!

Maybe kabal isa different, but as kitana the best dash punish you can hope for is throw, and even that can't be done if the connection isn't good.

Kaval doesn't lose any matchups. You can win when you learn it better.

But of the few 4-6 kanal has, reptile is one of them and so is Lao and Freddy. This is why I picked up reptile...for kabal.

That wasn't the point of the thread. Even though it is online I wanted to know if there was anything I was doing wrong. I really don't know how to approach this match up offline because of my experience online so I wanted some advice.

I'm aware Kabal doesn't have any losing match ups, its only me as a player having trouble with it.

In my experience with reptile, you have to keep him out with saws. That's is my primary offense. And you know, punish dash with f4 (good luck online lol). Unless you have the most on point iagb, they aren't going to help you. With ex dash, when he goes behind you, you can njp or f4 him (timing is strict, you have like 1 frame gap with f4 and 2 or 3 with njp. Get that off and it'll change the game. Also its best to not give ndc pressure after combos and j just do his 50/50. (f3,2 saw/tornado slam). Kabal isn't really as much offensive in this match as he is reactive. Good luck man!

I was talking to someone about me focusing on pressure on my matches in the stream chat. I never really get to fight good players like them so I wanted to keep trying different stuff for my pressure to see if I can do it well against them. If this were an offline tournament you'd see a lot more 50/50's. I did handicap myself, if you want to put it that way, but its the only way to tell if I'm getting somewhere.

I totally forgot about NJP the ex dash. This is why I wish I had more reptiles to play against. There are so many small things I'm missing and its hurting me because of it. I have a lot of work to do so I'll figure something out until I can get an active reptile player. I played with Joker a few times but we haven't played in a while

thanks for the input sir

Actually, Kabal's offense is what overwhelms Reptile. I believe to win this mu you have to rush him down at all costs. Once you have a chunky lifelead, you can play keep away with saws

So I approaching it like rushing down kung lao would be good? My pressure against him is revolved around baiting the spin or 21, I adjust accordingly. I feel like I could apply a lot of the things from the KL match up into it.

In my experience, you want to rush Reptile down. Forceballs lower his hitbox so IAGBs wont hit him. Skitzo knows what he is talking about.

Exactly. I love this mu, I love the mu's where I get outzoned & I must play rushdown.

I can't believe I never thought about rushing him down that way. I guess its from bad experiences and I never get time to adjust. I did notice my pressure did get to him the times that I did it. Time to step it up.

I'll definitely try to work on gameplan like I did with KL

OMG I love playing this matchup with you skitzo, but ya, the best thing you can do is use saws to keep reptile away and then use mixups when you do have to be up close. Use sweep to get under forceballs that are fullscreen and don't instant air. Instant air = very bad trade cause reptile can dash from full screen to combo after he connects a forceball. Hope this helped lulz.

I always sweep under the forceballs and completely forgot. @.@ fml
Thanks for the input. It will help me when I put everything from this thread together and study it along with my match

Also, that first match with Krayzie, 2nd round at the last reset you could've just done a throw & backed up & start zoning & punish anything accordingly & you could've won dude lol no need for unnecessary pressure. It cost you

edit: it doesnt matter cause you still won the set lol im barely watching it all

i noticed there were a looot of blocked dashes.. and you didnt punish any of them which let tyler play more reckless and you lost out on a lot of possible damage imo thats the main reason he won.. lol i know its fucking hard to punish the dash online sometimes. also i try and keep the pressure simple cus a good reptile will dash out of it almost all the time or at least try an bait the dashand punish it.. when zoning saw is your best friend
