New UMK3 rom hack?

"A hack of the Arcade version is known as Zeus Edition, in which Stryker and Shang Tsung are replaced by Human Smoke and Noob Saibot on the character select screen. However, Noob Saibot has neither special Moves nor finishers and Human Smoke can be unlocked by a button combination in the standard version."

So what's the point?

Agreed but it's still kinda fun to play. IMO.

Kudos to you my friend. You, ARE THE MAN!!!!

(thanks for your help!)
Thanks for the kind words. I am uploading some "Master Tower" gameplay vids right now from the Zeus Hack. I am pretty predictable and not THAT good, but I got all the way to the final "E" :)

I have had the Zeus Hack since 2004 and Moe30W told me he burned it to actual rom chips when we discovered it. If I'm not mistaken someone who was friends with the creater contacted me about it and sent me a link to the website that originally hosted it. Moe said it failed to boot the first time and gave standard errors but worked the second and from then on. I have been told someone else also did this, so there are 2 authentic "Arcade" versions of it, a la SFII Rainbow Edition. The Zeus Hack is neat if you want to do 2 on 2 matches where you can be Human Smoke for up to 3 full rounds instead of 1 or 2, and playing vs the Endurance Super tower.

Noob Saibot seen in any combo videos I've ever been a part was just using a standard MAME cheat to enable Noob after you select a character. If you enable him before you select a character, basically any input from that player will crash the game. Also something to note is that Noob's damage is "Boss Damage" meaning he takes no chip damage of combo hits after the initial hit as well as overall lower damage. He has a standard popup combo to juggle that does right around 41% or more depending on the character without a starter, his juggling potential is fun because of his walking speed and he has a 45% fairly standard punisher vs male ninja teleports. Certain distances from near the corner Noob can do up to mid 60%s in damage fairly easily by juggle walking.

They should have made Noob similiar in MKT, but with a little more balanced health bar.

Looks fun.

They couldn't really do anything with Noob to make him different, maybe change his damage but I dunno, I doubt they got that far with rom hacking. Keeping his damage like a boss makes him worth playing as.

Anyone have the ROM files? I'd like to burn it to an EEROM myself, and I was putting in some ROM EEPROM burn orders here soon to fix a broken MK2 board.
I got ya bro. I will PM you the link over at your place ;)

Edit: you beat me to it, lol

As is, Noob would probably be somewhere in the lower mid tier but it has to be taken into consideration that only an overall skilled player would even bother using him since he has no specials. In terms of a more universal pick and play usage, I don't really see many people getting far with him, so his learning curve is tough but he has some benefits. This is merely based off what we know is possible with the character, the no chip damage on combos, boss damage overall, fantastic normals, fast walking speed, etc. There's no actual reference to work with, but if some players want to give him a shot on Kaillera using the Zeus hack go for it.

More notes on damage, he basically takes varying amounts of damage for any combo/hit, depending on damage protection scenario.

For example, an uppercut vs Noob does 27 pixels (16%) instead of 36 pixels (21%), or 75% of full damage, and Human Smoke's B&B combo does 65 pixels (39%) vs 94 pixels (56.5%) being 69% of the full damage.

Some combos with Noob:

Vs teleporting Ninjas: aaHPHP, aaHP, aaHP, aaLP, HK - 6 hits 45%
Vs Male Ninjas: 4 hit pop up, aaHPHP, aaHP, aaHP, aaLP, HK - 10 hits 43%
Standard corner: 4 hit pop up, JK, RH, HK - 7 hits 45%

Depending on how far you are from the corner when starting a pop up you can throw in some some juggled HPs before the JK, RH, HK. If you get 2 our you'll hit 50% in the corner juggle without a starter, it is possible to get a 3rd but the timing on the JK, RH, HK/LK is tough. You can also apply this to punishers.

Vs Jax, of course you can extend these combos slightly, by sometimes adding jab juggles, changing LPs into HPs, and HKs into JKs. Sub and Stryker probably as well here and there but to be certain the standard male ninja, combos work on them as well. But basically if you land a starter you can get 45%-50%+ and 60%+ in the corner on most characters with Noob.

Noob can also relaunch everyone.
