ex spit is useless. only time i ever use it is to get first hit on characters like sub and kitana where im pretty sure theyre going to jump/jump fan/clone
Actually it's among your strongest options when you are too close to dash whiff. +3 on block, reaches over half screen. Plus if you trade projectiles with EX spit, it's a free in on most characters.

I have some ideas on using it.

In some rare cases you can even continue a combo off of ExSpit if you trade projectiles and your opponent is still stuck in the hit animation.

lol im not going to ex spit to be plus 3 on block no thanks....annnndd it slow as fuck. 21 frame execution..if youre close enough to where you cant dash that move is too slow

Honestly I dont see the point of using ex spit unless chipping something out. I just cant see any situation that ex spit can not be solved by Ex slow fb even at non dashing distance. Slow fb allow for you to jump in, AA, combos opportunity, pressure to build up the same meter you just loss, make dash safe, and if you win air to air you might get 30% combo.

I'm so tired of hearing how Ex Spit is useless or just not worth it. I love to start matches with Ex spit against the right characters. Against a lot of people they are stuck with two options, duck or use armor. There are a lot of characters that can avoid it at the beginning of a match, but I also like to use it to mix up my zoning game when people think they have a beat on it. I think it's just a really good tool to use to catch people offguard and get them to keep their distance. Of course it's not his best tool, but I still think it's a useful one. Mr. Mileena :p

like i said its almost useless besides very specific situation like you said at beginning of matches against certain characters to get first hit or to finish someone off at mid distance who you think will jump or move at all

I think it's great, people just don't look at it the way I do though I guess lol. even when it doesn't hit it's a blessing in disguise sometimes, it's +3 on block...FREE DASH! lol that's 11% plus the chip you get off of the ex acid spit.

You also think Reptile should never be in the corner too correct?

How the hell is it useless when it covers the range where Reptile can't whiff dash?

It's tied for his best option next to EX forceballs at that range.

Reptile doesn't have a single useless EX move. The diversity of tools available to him and the readiness you can access them via rapid meter building are fantastic.

Ermac's EX teleport = useless EX special.

It's only when you explore other characters that you realise just how good Reptile's options are.

Umm.. I would like to point out that ex teleport gives 40% damage

like salad said their are other options that are just as good in that situation.. might as well use ex dash or exffb

and never said he should never be in the corner just believe he is better suited to be in open space

again these are opinions dont get all defensive about it its a forum where people voice opinions obviously not everyone is going to agree..

thats the great thing about reptile.. there are many ways to play him

Im not saying its not good or anything. The meter is just better well spent with ex fb/dash 99% of the time. Wasting 1 bar might not be worth it for a move, and with the trading situation is pretty rare for your opponent to throw a projectile at jumping distance and you cant really trade like that on reaction either.

Im just saying I dont see the reason why using this move when his other ex are better options and fb just limit opponent options a lot more than spit. It takes 21 frame to get out the ex spit, it takes only 19 frame to get out a fb

But the risk is very high too, every player that zones Ermac does it to bait the teleport. He may get 40% or he may eat 40%. If it had properties like Scorpion or Sektor's ex tele it would absolutely not be useless.

At high level play, you're unlikely to see it being used, let's face it.

well baiting that teleport might even be what ermac player wants. By respecting the teleport he can build meter, he can outzone you, and he can come in easier. People keep saying how slide is punishable, well idk how many slides brady gets that in lol.

Yeah I think its wrong. Playpal said it just shows you the frames you have to link. So 122 into forceball could actually be interrupted by say Reptiles dash or KL spin.

Forceball is -11 on block. But I haven't had a single person be able to punish a d4 into forceball.
I think this is wrong.... I've never ever have had 122~fb be interrupted. Nor any 122~ anything. Me and my fiance tested it today against kung Lao, sheeva, kabal, and mileena, trying low pokes, fast single strikes, fast specials, and xrays and nothing interrupted reptiles 122~.

On a different note.... I don't think f3 1+2 works in the corner. Not sure since I didnt test a lot but my fiance was able to block 1+2 when f3 1+2 was done in the corner.

Besides that I'm wondering what yall suggest.to follow up with after a 1+2 hit? And is there a possible free throw opportunity after 1+2 if you cancel 1+2 into elbow dash? I tried testing that but didn't have consistent results..... May work but may need specific placement.

Couple side notes.... D4~fb works but is hard for me to do lol. any tips? And im new here. Hi yall :)

I struggle to do this when crouching but off the bat it's easy to do by inputting d+b4 b3. Comes out every time.
Alright I'll have to try that.... Though it kinda bugs me how you can trick/break the mechanics to doing stuff rather unproperly. Like for example I got replays of reptile doing cancel special moves without specified face button imput.

Anyways I'm looking for some insight on my previous reply.
