Just finished watching MK9 EVO matches and I really had fun (as much as you can on a MLG stream tho), before that I also watched other popular tournaments but I never got to see some 2v2 tag tournaments played in the same competitive way 1v1 is played, why is that?

I kept thinking while CDjr and Reo kept playing and counter picking in the finals (more or less, btw I rally like the fact that mk is stronger on counter picking since it forces player to learn more character and that means more variety while watching) that it would be cool to see jax/smoke vs cage/kabal tag where the players would try to tag in appropriate counter picks and other stuff like that.

I mean, I'm relatively new to all this but it seems to me that a cool tag feature of MK is underused. Is it because it broken? Is it broken?

I would really like to see some high level tag play in mk. Are there any good streams videos of that nature? If yes, please post a link here.

Tag tourneys are not viable without some patches due to 100% percent combos and other various issues. We probably will never see it. Tag is good for the general public but high skill level breaks it.

That's a shame really. Pity Netherrealm didn't put some tag only patches to fix those stuff, lets hope mk10 does it better.

In a world where Marvel and the like come with unbreakable, spinning destruction (ala the Lightning Loop), would it really be that bad? Think about it. If every team is potentially as broken as the next, at least anyone participating would know in advance their likelihood of being consumed by some broken contraption of a setup.
I'd do it. The only reason I don't really play tag is because there's no scene for it. It's fun as hell.

Just for the record, who are some of the worst pairs/most fucked up anchors?
I know Raiden and Nightwolf are up there with the EX Bolt/3x Arrow, but I'm uncertain about the rest.

That is true, with certain team it is easy to do touch-of-death combos, or even x-factor loops (felicia comes to mind), but there you at least have tree characters, and its mahvel... there it makes sense.

I wonder if it could be fixed by having more life (like 100% more). I don't know if there are infinities in mk tag. It is a shame that even though they have all those balance patches for 1v1 play there are no for 2v2 (but on the other hand having any parches is commendable).

My thought was that that might be what they were going for: a Marvel-ish take on OP tag team gimmicks.
I mean, there's NO WAY they could hash some of these teams together and not realize it's gonna end in overabundant pain.

I wonder what happens when you combine Cyrax resets and Quan Chi Rune Traps...
Or Cage frametraps and Noob high-low Shadow games...

Yeah, I gotta play more Tag.

Where art thou, MKX Skarlet?
NRS never intended for infinites to happen in 1v1 play - and they still occurred. If tag became big, it would be because NRS fixed the current set of infinites. However, more infinites would be discovered as people were forced to get creative (all assuming Tag was a paying spot in tournaments). This would cause NRS to have to patch more - aka a lot more work for NRS. Nothing against them, but they clearly aren't interested in patching 1v1 play anymore, let alone touch a non-tourney viable mode of play.

Just my opinion.

Definitely. The problems they'd have trying to legitimately civilize it would be gargantuan (©Elle Driver).

It would require they ban some characters in order to make such an event legitimate, due to the properties of some characters' Tag Assists. It's already been explained, so I need not add more. I'm comfortable with one-on-one, always should be that way.
