Hey all,

If you're seeing new ads popping up in threads, it's normal due to some new ad placements we're inserting to better TYM overall. We have some exciting ideas in the the works for TYM and these new ads will help us get there. We appreciate all of your support!

Here's a sample of the new ads - again, we're simply testing things out, so we appreciate your support! @admin

Yeah, gotta say I'm not a fan of this at all. I actually sort of panic closed the window because I thought it was malware or something. They've come up like 3 times while I've typed out this message lol. I get you're just trying stuff out, but if this is around long term I think it's too intrusive for this to be worth it for me.

YES!
Some of the adds are links to actual malware. When they first started popping up yesterday they were in the top right which wasn't so bad. So long as they are actual adds.

I think the main issue around it is how fast it pops back up and being directly in the middle of the screen. A few minutes ago one popped up in the middle, I closed it, and then as I was typing my post it popped back up again and I almost mashed the "go to" button on it by accident lol.

Fwiw, I tried going on TYM on a corporate network and it was flagged as a security risk. That's never happened with TYM or any other site at work. @STORMS it might be worth reverting this change strictly from a security perspective, my guess is these ads are legitimate malware. In the meantime, I think I'm done taking risks here until this is gone.

I usually expect to see some naked ladies along with ads like this
Hey I got the same ones!

Ads have been adjusted. We're definitely hearing the feedback, so thank you for working with us on this.

We're continuing to monitor the ads FYI
Nice, thanks for making adjustments and taking feedback. It's still pretty aggressive, I dunno if it takes some time for changes to go into effect. As it stands right now, there are still shady looking banners popping up on mobile covering buttons and stuff.

I appreciate you need to find a balance to have ads that keep the site running while also keeping it usable for folks, but to be honest if things keep popping up on my screen like this that I need to actively close out, that crosses a user experience line that's too much for me to want to stick around unfortunately.

The "for now" scares me. Malware simulator should be turned off permanently.
Meaning as we work through different forms of ads to improve site revenue to keep TYM sustainable.

This is all being carefully worked on/considered.

Storms. You disappeared for a while and no batted an eye. You suddenly come back and within a few weeks people are complaining about this shit change you’ve made.

Please do this site a favor and disappear again.
Yep, I certainly did. I reached a point of burnout years ago like I'd never experienced before. It was the perfect storm of social media taking over among other happenings going on, life, etc.

Otherwise, I appreciate the kind words.

This shit sucks ass. Bring Robocop back

These ads suck ass and are thankfully gone(attached). However, y'all need to be real with yourselves. This end time is coming unless something drastically changes. Such as life in the big city.
