D and E costumes were omitted and many of the customization items that were in Final Showdown aren’t in the Legendary pack. This is a fucking joke, especially since FS is 10-years old.
They rebuilt the game from scratch for a new engine. Sounds like it's a small staff with a small budget, and they had a tight deadline. They had to rebuild all of those costumes and custom items, and they just didn't have the time or resources. Considering the game is free for two months, I don't think it's that bad, and it sounds like they're working on adding those other costumes and items at a later date.

Just being realistic here. Single platform games that people can't realistically play online that were originally released over a decade ago won't generate the energy that new n' shiny games will.
Keep your realism to yourself, the rest of us like new fighting games.

love it when mother fuckers complain about free games.
A game that is only free of charge for a temporary amount of time and only to PS Plus subscribers isn’t truly free of charge. The game’s netplay is awful because it has neither a WiFi nor region filter/indicator and it has paper airplane netcode.

So yes, I will complain, as is my right since the game has DLC that has a sticker price greater than zero and I’m a consumer.

So far I've seen good things about the netcode on twitter. I guess we'll see how that holds up when we start seeing more people play.

I assume most people in FGC who have a PS4/5 already have PS Plus, since I thought it's required to play games online? So for the majority of people, the game is free of charge for two months. That's a pretty big window to be able to grab the game for free. If someone has PS Plus and doesn't get VF5 for free, that's their fault.

That being said, even if someone doesn't have PS Plus, or misses the huge window, the game is still only $20-$30. That's pretty cheap for a chance to play a solid classic FGC title which has been rebuilt using a new engine.

So far I heard the netcode is pretty good. Like, surprisingly good. VF making a comeback!

I had to get PS Plus again, so I did have to pay something. I'd pretty much resolved to not pay for netplay anymore since I have every FG game I have on PS4 also on PC.

I got one month to take the nostalgia trip and I'll go from there.

One of the things that I saw being talked about last night is it sounded like the game doesn't actually use P2P connections. Your experience may be very dependent to how close to a matchmaking server you are and my understanding is it's a known list with lack of coverage areas like zero servers in Africa.

That was as of last night info, so take it for whatever. The discussion was interesting, but it is more than a little concerning given that approach would make server load and overhead costs concerns bigger issues. Like if the game doesn't do well, do you start lowering your server coverage to cuts costs, then the online gets worse, so people stop playing, then servers get killed completely because nobody is playing?

Bruv is there any game that u dont complain about tho? VF is a classic series and seems like the developer is trying to make some money to revitalize it. Fine by me. If capcom released mvc2/darkstalkers 3 with decent net code right now for 20 bucks id be all over it if it led to them making another game in either series.

I see. Yeah that sounds concerning.

Blind justice....
9/10 of my online fights were decent to very good, had like only few bad oversea (im in cetral EU) connections. It's no the best netcode, not rollback but it works OK. Your mileage will vary depending on connection distance, routing etc...

I played today for about 5 hours ranked, 4 hours practice mode and it was fun but the netcode is for sure not as good as MK11 or Tekken7. And this is the start time, where lots of people play. Will be interesting to see in 1 month. This game not showing Wi-Fi or a ping ingame is also very "old-school", I really wonder why the wheel always has to be invented new. Good features should be standard, imo.
(Is rollback a hidden secret in the "developer" scene? Can Sony not help them out? ...)

The game also works "decent" because this game has the biggest buffer in all fighting games. Fastest universal moves are 11/12frame with the jab (throw 10f). It helps for landing your combos and this makes most people think, it's a great netcode because they don't drop combos but for example reacting to stuff is way harder, like blocking or whiff punish etc.

It actually makes me sad this game does not offer rollback and a Wi-Fi feature in 2021.
(And so many new console kids use Wi-Fi because they don't know better ... It's really not meant to be used for fast games ...)

I will for sure keep playing the game, it has so much stuff to learn and I like that. Options, something I miss a little in MK11 but for sure not in Tekken7.

I was pretty salty about them bringing up the VF conversation just to say nothing at all about it for months on end. When they announced it and it was less than a week till launch I kind of thought it might have been genius.

They got the game in everyone's hands while they were still silly slapped by the news, and giving it away made it all the easier. You don't have time to stop and talk yourself out of it. There has been a lot of buzz, big names are playing it. If you wanted to pay 10$ for the extras, great for Sega. Bought a little PS+ to get it? Great for Sony. Do both, great for Sega and Sony.

Three things I really like:

  1. VF does so much with stances, especially a character like Lei Fei. I love the way he has so many moves and paths that let him weave in and out of 6-7 different stances. Very complex, but it looks so cool.
  2. I like how counter hits change the property of moves in terms of damage and hit advantage.
  3. I know not everyone likes how the different weight classes force different combo routes and gives different characters advantages/disadvantages, but I appreciate how the game tries to be a little more realistic in how certain moves would work on different weight characters.

The Legendary Pack does not have anywhere close to 2000 items, so I applied for a refund and received confirmation that my request was approved.

If anyone wants to apply for a refund, be sure to mention that it's false advertisement. I hope Sony removes the Legendary Pack from the PSN Store to teach Sega a lesson.

@MuMuGuy You seem to be taking this Virtua Fighter game pretty personally. I'm just not sure I understand what the big deal is? Like, it's just $10 and they literally say "around 2,000 custom types". Maybe they're adding more later (again, small staff, small resources, tight deadline), maybe they're not. But either way why is having exactly 2,000 items, most of which you'll likely never use anyway, such a big deal?

You just seem to be taking any excuse possible to rage against the game. Seems odd.

Are the wall combos in this game the only real juggles?
What do you define as juggles? Obviously there's launchers, and then once you've launched you can go into a string or moves to keep the combo going. There's also Bounce, where it basically restands the opponent so you can continue a combo. See the video at about 4:30
