The genius of Deadly Alliance

It pulled apart the Shang & Shao duo and the Chi & Shinnok duo. They basically replaced the former with the latter in 4, but unfortunately that’s the only time they dared. I had hoped they would put Shang & Shinnok in this one, but seems X and 11 went with the old duos. Really hoping for 12 to be more daring and mix it up like Deadly Alliance did.

I’m trying to understand this but can’t.

Let's see if I can translate

Deadly alliance was innovative in its narrative by having the subordinate members of the primary evil duos team up. Quan Chi and Shinnok replaced Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung in 4, but that was the only time NRS attempted to do this. I had hoped that Shang Tsung and Shinnok could team up in MK 11, but it seems that X and 11 continued using the status quo teams of antagonists with Shinnok & Quan Chi in X and, however briefly, Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn in aftermath. I hope in the next installment that they will explore unexplored iterations of evildoing, much like Deadly Alliance once did.

Agent of Chaosrealm
To be honest, I always felt that fighting two regular characters as a boss battle was incredibly lackluster.
