Summon Lighting Tech

I'm not sure if this thing is already known, but I think it is interesting one and I would like to share.

The Summon Lighting move is designed to catch an opponent who is jumping. However, you can use this move on big characters (Terminator, Jax, Shao Kahn etc.) even if they are on the ground in some situations.
The move hits a big opponent when Raiden is around in his D4 range. Also it is possible to confirm Summon Lighting after his 243 string.

Because of it, I tried how it acts with Raiden's strings when an opponent is blocking. As you can see in attached video, after F4 and B12 string, it's not possible to duck.

Mine conclusion is this discovery can be used in situation, when you don't have the Rajin's buff and you want to be safe after B12 string, because The Summon Lighting move is -2 on block.
Maybe it can also add some additional layer of mind games on big characters?

This is a bug, another example of hitboxes working incorrectly. SL used to catch people who jumped from full screen think it was the term patch that adjusted it somehow this was still left over.

Correct. I also just found out that B12 into SL is not real, you can duck. In such a case, I wouldn't treat this as a serious thing, more like a gimmick ;)

Does F4~DB2 still work on large hotbox characters?
However, either way it's just a gimmick. Wouldn't really say it's super useful since Raijin can still do regular fly cancels to create space.

Yes it does. SL has this advantage over canceling super man that is -2 on block and create a space,

Did you test when crouch blocking? Since in your video I only saw you stand block and trying to crouch the DB2.

Not really disagreeing, just trying to keep things accurate since the move always did this dicky face splat without a clean hit since launch.
If the move worked in a way that vacuumed them to Raiden's hand no matter what then yeah it would definitely function better for what it seems intended to do.

I was in the lab earlier since SL got a hit-box adjustment allowing all females to get combo'd from 243 and B31. It turns out that this kind of tech might be somewhat useful in a sense because opponents will always be wanting to block overhead after F3. At point blank (emphasis on point blank) F3~DB2 summon lightning will land on a stand-blocking opponent (tested on Joker, a small male hurt-box, this thing whiffs on females who stand block), so there is a way to stay safe and create more stagger opportunities from F3. Granted, it's still rather inconsistent so use at your own risk of getting D2KB'd. I imagine it will be easier with larger hurt-box characters but I might prefer using BF1AMP if they are stand blocking because of the space it gives. Not to mention, cancelling F3~DB2 has NO flawless block gap (same as F32) so in the corner this might be a nice way to stay safer.

Unfortunately, I don't think B1~summon lightning on block works so there's still not a reliable way to stay completely safe for this string, but I think the options Raiden has off F3 are nothing to scoff at.

@wookie thanks for posting this when you did as I was reminded of it when I saw the patch notes and I was randomly hitting someone grounded with summon lightning in some online matches. I know I might have somewhat dismissed this as a gimmick (and I still think it is), but the new changes to F32 may have granted this tech more legitimacy for use in matches (especially in T&L as it has neither the staff slam or fly cancels)
