How to use kotal's unblockable

Wetdoba

All too easy...
I never said he didnt need it, my point is that he does have it and it is good. Plus since this is anti universal mechanics then its something that is feasible against the entire cast.

Oh yeah for sure, I kid because I think he is pretty good overall.

He has an extremely unique tool kit. Unfortunately the meta overall favors vanilla tactics. I feel like they were scared to make the interesting characters too strong for some unknown reason. It's basically opposite of anime style balancing.

Yes i have thought that myself.

And also yes NRS clearly wanted the meta to be as vanilla as possible in this game seeing as how every preset is the most boring version of each character. They were clearly scared of being criticized by the competitive community for being too cheap or gimmicky so all the most unique moves for each character are not in the actual competitive variations and they decided not to allow customs.

And yes a delayed quake beats any active wake up option except roll back I think. But when you get the juicy corner pushes, his unblockable is real at jump range.
If you read delay wakeup on F34 and do quake just a couple frames after you would normally, it will catch both rolls. Doesn't work with command grab and I haven't tested 221 and F122.

You need minimum 41f hit adv for unblockable setups, the real ones.

221 is like 42, F122 25~

Probably that I don't really see commas used for combos and that both kahn cut and 34 are enders into the unblockable, with kahn cut being exactly +42.

Commas separate commands that aren’t cancels or strings.

The confusion also stems from the fact you don't mention which variation's sunlight and where on the screen you're doing it, as 34 works after kahn cut only in the corner vs anyone but big bodies and midscreen only vs big bodies.

Kahn cut only exists in Ascension. If the combo includes kahn cut, you can infer which variations sunlight I’m using.

Test for yourself, midscreen - b22 xx kahn cut 34

So there you go, reactable in the corner, not worth midscreen because only works vs big bodies, can still be reacted to and is incredibly tough. And if you're doing sunlight, same thing. Reactable, and in the corner the sunlight outside of totemic, which is a really niche and overall garbage variation, is mostly out of bounds.

Delay WU has to be input before hitting the ground. That’s a tall ask to react to 34 xx kahn cut/ quake/ god ray.

The entire point of the setups on video is that it's a legit mixup, not reaction, and the sunlight is safe vs some of the cast.

In the mentioned set-up, god ray is mostly safe vs DWU, punishable on a hard read.

Cancel into quake = reactable, gimmicky, punishable
Certain combo enders into quake = generally unpunishable and a lot harder to react to, if not unreactable ( with delay getup ).

Optimized your combo btw, making it possible off any starter. It’s in the combo thread, feel free to steal that one too.

B22 kahn cut 34 does not work on females. 34 whiffs.

I also assumed B22 34 quake also hits in totemic, hence the sunlight dillema. I don't play totemic at all, but from a quick test there's not enough gravity for the quake to hit while they're getting up and you can't add any gravity and connect 34 afterwards so rip.

Quake from 34 is extremely reactable. Go test it yourself with 2 identical recordings but different enders, press DWU when you see the sword. There's no mixup, it's pure reaction if your opp knows the setup. It being this way makes sunlight not a mixup at all.

Like I said before, you can react to cancels of quake. I see it everyday. The F34 setup doesn't give you time to react, by the time you see the sword coming, the DWU window has passed and you're getting up.

This isn’t true either. Jeez what are you guys doing in the Kotal threads?
^ The above research. Unless you wanna elaborate, there's no need to condescend.

Female hitboxes, what’s a Kahn to do -.-

Jump has start-up. Neutral less than forward or back. I’m not exactly sure how much exactly, but for neutral it’s around 4-5f. So if quake is i41, you could get unjumpable set-ups at around +37. Or if you have good cancel advantage off of a string.

Sleep deprived af right now, but you'd need more for the move to come out first, wouldn't you?
