Cassie Cage MU Discussion (MK11)

Like I want to agree with you but like I've played quite a few baraka players that have made a straight read multiple times and hopped over my low gunshot and hit me with that hopping overhead.

When she has to get in on him, forget it. His range is way better. His normals are amazing (his jumps, sweep and his D2). His crushing blows are way more accessible and once Cassie is cornered, shes f***ed.

His damage is Sonya level.

Cassie's Anti-airs have to be on point in order to stuff Barakas jumps otherwise it's a free combo for him.

Another thing that some of the Baraka's I play have figured out is his D1 or D3 (which ever his his crouching low kick) low profiles her B2.

Cassie is for sure one of the strongest whiff punishers in this game but baraka is just as good and nets more damage off of hit confirms.

I honestly think Baraka beats Cassie. It's not like devastatingly bad but he does have the upper hand for sure. Cassie has to play a careful reads and reaction game while trying to stay out of the corner.
I've played a good one for a long set and I just think his gameplan is simple enough to counter. But then we had this one dude in KOTH completely wreck my ass so I don't know, I wouldn't say it's in his favour if anything it's probably even.

ahaha yeah, any skilled player could turn a character into a problem. Prof Oak kicks our ass with D'vorah and apparently, she's the worst character in the game.

Hahaha I honestly don't think shes that bad. But then again MU knowledge and experience is everything. You're definitely going to get bodied by an experienced player who knows what their doing with their character, especially when you're unfamiliar with the MU or their characters toolkit.

That's a very good point, no one bothered to learn the D'vorah MU since no one played her. I like when people do that tho, it forces us to learn and it's damn good.

This is so true. If someone is better than you it doesn’t really matter who they use. Thats why low tier characters win tournaments all the time in multiple games

Facts lol I remember when I was playing injustice 1 and 2. People said I had an amazing joker. I was nah my jokers not amazing, you guys just don't know the MU which is making you free to me lol people assume a character is not as bad as people think when they don't know the MU.

That's why I generally try my best to find good character specialists, pick their brains, run long sets and flesh out as much as I can before I voice my opinion

Playing with someone who knows the match up is much more fun to me.
When I see that the guy has absolutely no clue about the setups, frames, moves and can not punish it will demoralize me.
Fortunately I play popular characters now. :)

Vica Versa of course... if I do not know the match up that will not be fun BUT I can realize if I eat his bullshit or legit and lab it after the match.
Still lot to lab/learn in mk11. Of course more popular characters give more experience.

Tournament is not joke though as if you do not know the mu you will be out fast. :)

Fighting Jade literally gives me cancer I still have no clue what to do.
Honestly she’s just hard to punish online. She does negative strings into D2 all the time and hits me out of F4. The amount of D2 I get hit with that should not work with her are pretty crazy. Or she does her butterfly that’s -13 i believer and D2 me out of F2 and gets a crushing blow. Same with the damn overhead strings

Yeah you can't punish her with anything, even B3 does nothing if she uses wiggly stick.

Yes Jade's confidence after punishable / minus moves is super huge to do her D2.
I can not blame anybody to use it after butterfly because she has nothing to lose!

I labbed some punishes against Jade and interrupt stuffs like amplified "shadow kick" but online it is super easy to miss even offline.

I do believe that if I need to face a Jade and I can switch I will switch to Scorpion to make her a bit thinking.
It is not a free win with Scorpion either - but probably if I have more match up exp I will be more confident (until that I can recieve T-bag after loss lol).

With Cassie it is nothing more than being grounded - patient and try to catch her whenever it is possible. She has still lot of options to keep away and get away free but definitely need to know your options, punishes.
I think Yaas Queen has better chances there if you stick to Cassie as she can punish things better with shoulder charge and exta zoning is not that valuable - but at least it forces to put her aura when you have time to get a bit closer.

PS EU.

That's unfortunate. I would love to play you

I could play with sars 200 ping but there were funny/weird moments. :)

So not ideal for max quality play but it was not that bad.

In KL against random scrub would be annoying but for friendly and for fun matches it might work sometimes.

What is your mu advice vs Jax?
I struggle against him pretty much. I can't defend his staggers so I am free if in.
And I barely can hold him back so I am mostly free lol.

I should be able to flawless block 2 strings - I will practice it.
Then need better in mind game I guess.
And try to keep away if possible: maybe always full screen combo ender?
They are mashing a lot like always plus so restand is good but I dunno.

I can not stand rush downs. :)

Fortunately U2 combo works on Jax too but strict as usual (250 dmg for 2 bars if J3xxBF1 ender).
Probably one combo is enough to make him scared a bit...

There's actually quite a few moves Jade has that Cassie can reversal punish with Shoulder Charge. A lot of matches I've had against good Jade players goes to the end of the clock, and I think that's just the nature of the match. It's just a very lame matchup. With Yaas Queen it's probably close to even IMO.

I played 3 last night in the KL and finally won. I think I got the hang of it. I'll post the matches this weekend with some tech cause I think it's really important against the MU.

Basically, I had to be very, very, very patient. I used Digital Soldier btw, and I thought about using B3 to close the gap but every time they used wiggle stick they caught me in the act, it's not as effective as shoulder charge.

So when I found myself full screen I used low shot immediately to force them to glow and then quickly advance in on them. They'll glave you and do that ground sweep thing but again just be patient and block.

Also be patient with the nitro kick because that KB hurts like a mofo. And it's a high so you can neutral duck it and punish the AMP version with D4.

They'll contest your pressure with D2 cause it's quick and the range is dumb as hell, so use D4 to pressure. If they get you with the D2, or knock you down, they'll most likely go for that overhead bouncy string so roll and punish the hell out of it. That's why I used DS you have to do as much damage as you can when you're in and DS has that.

Neutral jump helped with some of her strings on wakeup but if she D2's then you're getting your teeth knocked out anyways.

And try to force them to glow in close range. I know it's risky but using low gunshot will force them to do it cause they're playing Jade, they don't want to block your projectile like a peasant. And if she does it close well you can punish that shit, hard.

That's sort of what I remember off the top of my head, I'll have to rewatch the matches this weekend.

I'm pretty sure both Nitro kick and the amped version full combo punishable on block. I'll have to double check but if so, add that to your breakdown and I think we have a decent shot. Idk why, but i get opened up with that slow ass overhead every time. Offline i block it just fine but online forget it.

I played this Jade player that was using the Jaded Variation and yoooo.... he fucked me up and get this... he was rushing me down. I didnt even know what to do not gonna lie. He straight wasted me lol

I will have to test it again but I’m pretty sure you can 111 punish the gap in ex nitro kick. The thing is 111 doesn’t punish regular nitro kick cause of pushback. If you have the read might as well punish them hard.

Emerald Jade's nitro kick into amp can be interrupted by 7F Jab. So 7F Jab punishes both regulard and amp which means you do not have to duck like a duck to bait (and eat other stuff from her). :D

It is super difficult though so probably just for online and for super timing. :)
