Noob Sailboat needs help

fr stack

Noob's saibot or noob saibot's?
No.

I just won't believe it's possible. There's not enough time to confirm imo.
Nah its based off player tendencies in my opinion b1 into b1 L1 as pressure figure out their button presses. I always throw out b1 mid range to bait

All the guys on here that are saying Noob is weak or needs buffed please watch Sonic Fox Tier list video. I don't have the link at the moment I'm on my work computer and cant access youtube.
Basically what it boils down to is anyone that thinks he is weak is playing him wrong. Including me at the beginning.
I hated him at first because I felt like he was weak for all the same reasons people are stating on this thread. But after deprogramming my MKX rushdown mentality and seeing some videos on YouTube on how to play him the right way he looks so much stronger.
Ive seen it said by others and Sonic Fox backs it up here. You just have to play him slow. Personally that's kind of a boring way to play a character but he does have some of the best damage in the game and can get at least 30 of of just about any touch for one bar. Not a ton of characters have that ability in this game.

He's not mid tier though is he ? nearly all his strings are unsafe including his go to string (b1 1+3) and his b3 one aswell. -17 on a string is ridiculous. And also his zoning is horrible for a character that was designed to have good zoning His clone goes away when it trades and his force balls are meh at best. some characters can bypass it like kabal for some reason where nomad dash also ignores It.
Thing is b1 1+3 is not his go to string. Cant disagree with your thoughts on his zoning though.

I have noticed better results when I play patient with Noob. Even some sick come backs. If I lose patient and speed up the match instead of letting it come to me I usually get my ass punished into oblivion. The same partially goes for when I play with Jade. I can't imagine anyone complaining about Noob does not objectively see better results in their own play when they play patient and let the game come to them. This would likely be why Sonic labels Noob and Jade both as "boring as fuck".

You know, it’s funny I found this thread.

Watching videos and seeing these “tier” lists - I decided to pick up ol Noob cause I was tired or Geras.

Man, after feeling comfortable and getting some high damage combos down - I ventured into Online.

Wow, at the disparity.

Against brain dead button mashers, noob is a damn beast, but playing anyone with at least decent knowledge shows how crap it can be playing with him.

Everyone just punished the teleport or they constantly pressure the zone play of him.

It’s not impossible to open up against them, but it really forces me to not use Noob optimally.

Feels like I’m handcuffed with crappy KB options and not much else in the arsenal.

There’s potential for him to be top tier but I was really underwhelmed tonight after a long evening of PvP matches.

Not saying he is terrible, I just wish he had just a few extra viable moves is all. Very little in the way of overheads means you can pretty much just crouch block everything.

Need to get back at the grind and see if I can switch it up a bit.
Couple things.

IF your get

Exactly.

The only time I get completely bodied using Noob is when I get bored, frustrated or impatient and start taking big risks like raw teleporting on a projectile read or mistiming a raw teleport on a jump in read. Or going for broke at distance and trying to use B3 without spirit ball to make it safe.

People are acting like he has no space control tools? Really?

We're saying confirming, not conditioning. Confirming as in throwing it out at one point in the game and on hit following up with 1+3 100 out of 100 times and on block not doing anything.

No need. Shall see combo breaker results.
Besides subzero bottom 4 meme is strong
Actually not a meme.

Sonic is speaking out of the point of view of someone who knows this game entirely and knows all of the animations. If you think about it it makes a LOT of sense....

.... but bottom 4 is a little over the top.

Yes, if I play patiently and calm down, I do better. Another thing is I have to pretty much accept I'm not going to land any combos. Once I realized b1,1+3 is going to be blocks, and 113 is going to be beat and the opponent is never going to be minus next to me, I do better.
Those rare times I land a combo, it will be a mediocre amp teleport into a d2 because they will break away and typically by the time I get another opportunity to combo they have both bars again.

Sonicfox's list isn't a tier list, nor are any lists that have circulated since the games release. It's an assumption of character placements based on ideas and theory with no numerical matchup testing what so ever.

A tier list is made by focusing on matchups for each character and to do this you need x amount of people who are highly skilled with y character and the game in general to play sets with other players of the same level that play different characters. After a large amount of sets, you gather your findings on each character and decide whether the matchup is 5-5, 4-6, 6-4, etc. You do this for every match that character has. This needs to be done with every character in the game. You take the matchup numbers for a specific character and add them up, then you do it for the rest of the cast. After that you place them in ascending order. There is your tier list. This can take months to years to do. Contemporary fighting game players don't have patience and want lists now for numerous reasons.

I don't care how good you are at a game, one person alone can not make a proper tier list in a months time. Hell, even if there was help it's still too early. Never base your opinion of a character off of "tier lists" that are premature. I'm one of the people on here who thinks Noob is strong. I came to this conclusion by playing the game. Good character is good.

Alright I'm gonna get real just for a sec. I don't even play Noob, in fact. I haven't even really played MK11. I just liked the idea of making a downplay thread just to piss a couple people off or hopefully stir up enough shit to get noob buffed which would have been the ultimate laugh. Just a bit of banter huhuhuhu.

Every tier list starts off with theory, which is then proven right or wrong in practice (i.e., casual games, offline and online tournament results, etc.) Sonic Fox's tier list is based on a character's tools and tournament results, which are common measurements for tier lists in 3D fighting games such as Tekken and Soul Calibur. Your ideal tier list requirement is incompatible with modern fighting games considering patches are released every season. There is no time to play and practice every match up for one or two years so characters are judged by the tools they have. Besides, do you genuinely need a match up chart to determine whether Geras is a better character than Kotal Kahn, for example? You can examine each character's tools and come to the likely conclusion that Geras is better.

LOL. Thanks.

I think I am being reasonable, at least in contrast to my extreme hot takes from the past. LOL. I disagree with Hitoshura when he claims Noob is strong, but I also disagree with people who think he is weak. I think he is average. Perhaps slightly above average. To me, he does nothing special that the S tier characters do not already do. I love the character design but realize that the "premier zoning character" was a facade so I just use him as my secondary or tertiary character.

Agreed. Regardless of anything else you said. At the end of the day if a player with the pedigree and proven talent of a Sonic Fox says a character is strong. That's god enough evidence for me to refute any claims that people have about Noob Saibot being a "trash" character.
Anyone taking losses with Noob Saibot is not due to him being a bad character. He like any other character has some bad matchups. But he stands up to almost anyone in the cast if you use him right.
People complain that his zoning is weak probably define good zoning as being able to sit full screen and mindlessly input the same projectile over and over and win strictly using that tool.
His zoning is good if you use it as a mind game and a way to frustrate an opponent into over committing or into trying to counter zone. Ive had a ton of success with throwing out the spirit ball baiting opponents into throwing their projectile back then punishing with a full combo starting with ex teleport during their recovery frames.

He said that SSJ Vegeta in Dragonball Fighterz was a bad character. Look at him. There's my rebuttal for that. Just because someone is good at a game doesn't mean they know all.

With all due respect, there are plenty of zoners in fgc history who zone full screen and aren't mindless. As a matter of fact, zoning isn't mindless. It's just a preconceived notion to those who don't understand zoning and think ever character has to fight up close because it's a fighting game. I'm assuming you don't actually play zoners because you're making such a claim. Noob's zoning isn't good. Spirit ball is his old "good" projectile and it's just that. He isn't even classified as a zoner in the game. Hes6 a neutral character who gets damage by punishing the oppone t on whiff or block. A example of a zoner would be Skarlet. You can't mindlessly zoner with her, nor most zoners in this game. The only zoner that I would consider mindless was Kabal in MK9. All he was was instant air gas blast until you got close, then rush down for days.

I don't play Noob specifically, but I've played hundreds of matches vs. him and labbed him significantly so I understand him well. Based on that experience and watching better players play him, the whole "premier zoner" label was a misnomer from the beginning. What I think he is is one of the premier spacers in the game and that, played with patience and smarts, he is easily top 10.

I think you mis understood what I meant by mindless. By mindless I literally mean people are completely discounting his spirit ball because they cant win a match simply by catching someone with that only like Jacquis gun in MKX or Kitana's fans.

Let me also say I in no way think Noob should be considered a "Zoner" - I'm simply saying his spirit ball is not useless and I have personally been able to use it to keep people away when I want.

I think its a bit of a pussy way to play yea. But that's a personal thing. To sit at fullscreen shooting projectiles over and over is lame in my opinion. I think players that do that kind of shit effectively but can also play up close are respectable though.
The only time I really think its true pussy and lame is when someone has not one clue what to do when a person gets in on them.

I agree. He is no "premier zoner" he was given tools that would make him a premier zoner if they weren't super slow on start up or easily interrupted. But they are usable for space control and head games.

I just want to say thanks for saying secondary and tertiary. It grinds my gears when someone says they have 8 mains.
