Bruce Campbell officially denies the rumor that he's DLC in MK11. Truth? Or smokescreen?

That would make sense. Or a new character named "Ash." According to the Redditor who found the files, they specify "Ash", not "Ash Williams."
Yet the dialogue files specifically refer to an "Ash Williams"?

Think it‘s the dialogue between Spawn and Ash.

Just a shot in the dark, but...

What if Ash is in the game, but Bruce isn’t voicing him? I mean, it’s not like having the original actor on board is necessary in the eyes of NRS (see Freddy Kruger).
This is exactly what I'm worried about. This could be Bruce's way of saying the real Ash won't be making an appearance.

I'd be sad to see him done dirty like that, Bruce Campbell is Ash, period.

It'd be weird for WBS to use someone else. It's not like Bruce doesn't do video game cameos - he agreed to be in Dead by Daylight, and that game doesn't have the resources that WBS does. And WBS would have to shell out for rights to the character anyway, so if they already paid for the rights, why not pay for Bruce to ensure the DLC actually sells?

And it's not even clear that WBS could include Ash without Bruce, since Bruce and Sam Raimi own the studio that produces Evil Dead, and they may own rights to the character.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I'd bet that WBS and Bruce Campbell (or whoever owns the rights to Ash) were in negotiations that fell apart late in development. Why else would he be so definitive in his tweet? If Bruce hadn't discussed it already with WBS, then he might be open to the idea and wouldn't close that door prematurely. But if Bruce is being honest (and he has a reputation for being honest with his fans), then he must have specific knowledge that it's not going to happen for certain. Which is different from knowing that there are no current plans. So the plan must've been discussed with WBS but died on the vine.

Maybe, that's certainly possible. Seems like WB/NRS were putting the cart way before the horse by including those dialog lines and character tags. I mean, it's all hidden from normal players, but companies tend to be pretty careful about this sort of thing.

I mean, I'll be up front.

If Ash isn't in, and it was up to Bruce and co, I lose some very minor cool points on them.

You're meaning to tell me you'll appear for Dead By Daylight but you can't appear for the game where you can gore it up with a chainsaw and boomstick? Nahhhhhhh. Eat shit.

smokescreen strategy most probably ..... Cary Tagawa denied too, and we saw what happened .... NRS knows 100% about the Switch leak, so, just instructed Bruce to "officially" deny his participation in order to this more or less work as "damage control" strategy regarding the leaked stuff, but, will not work .... we know that Ash Williams is a 100% guaranteed DLC, and would be very dorky and nonsense having another hired dude VA instead of Bruce Campbell himself voicing his iconic Evil Dead character in a high level quality game as MK11 .... would be the same as having an Injustice game without Kevin Conroy doing the Batman stuff voice

Yeah, I thought so too. But weren’t the Switch and PC ports handled by third party studios? There were no data mined leaks in the NRS-built PS4 and Xbox versions. Meanwhile these third parties don’t seem as competent or as concerned about preventing data mining in their ports.

Doesn't get more original than Englund.
I think it's a travesty that Freddie was a guest in a game with no intro dialogues, but all guests in MKX were characters who can't speak. I can already imagine him offering D'vorah to suck face, or welcoming Johnny to prime time.

Let's be honest, that's a lot of effort to deny a rumor. I say he's definitely in it, this has happened before. What do you expect them to say before some random guy datamines the DLC list in his basement? "Yeah, I'm in the game but you weren't supposed to know." LOL, get real.
that's the point. he didn't have to say anything at all. cary only denied his involvement because he accidentally confirmed it on twitter. bruce could've stayed silent if he truly was in the game. people are just over reading a direct deconfirmation because they want to believe the datamine, when in reality this wouldn't be the first time a datamine has been wrong

He's definitely lying to cover up the leak. NRS should know better than to put the actual character names in the data. It's strange that some people are STILL questioning the leaks when they've been spot on the past few times they've surfaced.
