How to deal with Scorpion’s TP on block

So I’ve seen some complaints about Scorpion’s Hell Port on block. Claiming it’s a “stagger” and that being able to amplify on block makes it very hard to punish.

The regular teleport is -20 on block. Players are attempting to punish it as soon as they block it. The issue is when you do that, if they amplify it on block your punish of the regular Teleport will get you hit by the amplified teleport.

Since the regular teleport is -20, instead of punishing as soon as you can, wait just slightly to punish. You cannot amplify the teleport super late after it’s blocked, so by waiting to punish for around 1 second (2 quicker seconds if you start the count as soon as you block the teleport) you will cover blocking both options and being able to punish. Also, amplify teleport is -14 on block but punishing the amplified version isn’t the issue.

This does make the regular teleport a little more safe, probably around -12 or so instead of -20. But 12 frames is still plenty of time to punish. Don’t quote me on the 12 frames but it’s close to that I think.

Hope this helps those that are having issue with it. As a Scorpion main I don’t care if it’s changed. It won’t effect me at all. But if it doesn’t this is how you can easily deal with it for those that are having complaints about it.

You can still amplify on block.

another move that gets me is jades teleport kick ^^
Haven’t labbed against it yet but yeah I have been clipped by it as well. I need to lab it up against Jade and a lot of characters actually.

Yes I’ve tested this lol. Works just fine.

Yeah so now you also have to worry about him canceling it in your face while you’re waiting to block it AND also having to wait a second so you can punish it.... he needs this for sure.
That’s the entire utility of that variation and the cancel, so what’s the issue?

It feels as though I cant cancel as late as before anymore. You can cancel on block but the window is tiny now.

Im not sure though...I thought the amplify timing window was like jade's

Best way to cut short Scorpion teleport is by flawless blocking the first hit into U2
You can also flawless block the second hit which leaves Scorpion at -19 on FBlock you can even launch punish him at will.

I believe that requires more practice than the delayed punish method but definitely scary lol.

i tried a couple times in the practice mode, been using online since then, specially because its a free 212 without need to worry about 1f windows
The easiest one is F.Blocking the last hit, which is the one, everyone should do often to scare scorpion players to amplify teleports

And what happens if it is not amplified? You do the flawless block by muscle memory for nothing and still have the 12F for 212?
Without amplify I think you will be in the same situation as the delayed punish... Which you wanted to avoid.

It's a bit easier to do the block for a certain amount of time > s1 if you have a 7f s1. Half the cast has an 8f s1, and poor Shao Kahn has a 9f s1 with no alternative worth mentioning.

Personally I wish the cancel on block was just gone, at best it's a noob shit tester, and at worst it's another realistic thing to look out for. But, time to adapt I suppose.

So you want to be able to punish a blocked TP & TP cancel with the same options? Lol

I’m sure they gave to cancel distance so Scorp can have a mind game to play with it. MKX left him right next to you so all the opponent had to do was poke.

Ummm I want him to not even have a chance. Period!! LOL

This tool by itself controls the pace of the match, it’s a launcher, is fast, makes it nearly impossible to anti air him and on top of that you wanna give. Him mind games? Stop, it should be straight up punisheable every single time.

He controls the pace...so what? I’ve never lost to a scrubby Scorp player being patient. The more he gets you press buttons, the more he’ll whiff punish you.

Some advice, try walking back to throw off the range of the jump in. If he TP’s, you can react and block. If he doesn’t back to neuch lol.

UMMMM.... are you serious? A move like this shouldn’t have the layers it has, it makes no sense at all. It’s actually pretty stupid how good this move is and as I said, he has other great tools.... he is actually the “no weakness” character in this game along with Geras.

You don't appreciate how braindead one-button-character level bullshit teleport cancel is, dude. He can teleport anytime, anywhere on screen for little to no risk and massive reward. He can circumvent anti-airs and mix up his jump-in combo into a combo on ground. He can punish you for trying to punish something otherwise punishable.
This is not game balance this is fucking ridiculous and you need to understand that he does NOT need this because if he doesn't lose THIS, he'll be nerfed into the dirt in other ways and trust me, you don't want Paulo's hand to decide what ELSE to nerf about him. Trust me, he can do much worse than losing the cancel.

I literally do it all the time. Make the jump in whiff and have time to react to a 23f TP. Just go in the lab for God’s sake. No weakness character? Lol
