Frost "Frost-Byte" Tournament Variation Combo Thread

Hey, everyone

I wanted to make a thread to specifically focus on Variation 1. This thread will over updated over time. I'm sure there will be mutual combos between this, her other variation, and kustoms, but I mainly want to focus on Variation 1 here.

VARIATION 1 ("Frost-Byte")

Midscreen BnBs

No Krushing Blow (KB) Needed
  • B32D1, 13-BF4 into bomb setup (234 damage)
  • B32D1, B12-DF2 into bomb setup (228 damage)
Krushing Blow (KB) needed
  • B2212(KB), walk forward, B12-DF2 into far bomb setup (258 damage)
  • B2212(KB), B2-Fatal Blow (403 damage)
  • BF4(KB), ff, B12-Fatal Blow (483 damage)
  • BF4(KB), ff, B12-DF2 into far bomb setup (295 damage)
  • D2(KB), B12-DF2 into far bomb setup (306 damage)
  • A failed throw escape will allow for the next throw to be a KB. You can combine this with a bomb to make almost-guaranteed damage. See video below. 267 damage.
Anti-Air
  • Includes all the viable AA options like D3, S4 etc,
Corner BnBs

No Krushing Blow (KB) Needed
  • 13-DB3, 1-DB3, D1-DF2 (246 damage, 271 damage with MB)
  • 13-DB3, 1-DB3, 13-DF2 (263 damage, 287 damage with MB)
  • B32-DB3, 1, 1, 13-DB3 (243 damage)
  • B32D1, B32D1, 322-DB2 into bomb setup (301 damage)
  • 43-DB3, 13-DF2 (234 damage, 263 with MB)
  • 43-DB3, 1, 1, 13-DF2 (247 damage, 275 damage with MB)
Krushing Blow (KB) needed
  • Includes all the viable starters like B3, B2, etc, and Fatal Blow finisher

The corner BnB that I wrote down is 243.95 dmg

Also, Ive seen past combo threads put every conceivable combo a character can do even if it's not viable. Can we limit the combos to the main BnBs? For example the combo that I posted in the corner can be changed if someone has a higher damaging version with the same start up and that knocks the opponent down in the same way.

Yea I'm perfectly fine with that. I prefer that honestly. Also, guys, please don't post anything that starts with a Ji1 or Ji2. What is your corner BnB again?

Are there midscreen BnBs that dont end in bomb setups and instead just inflict more damage? Lets say in scenarios where you want to close the match

K So im in practice mode and I got a few questions:

  1. In this variation, BF4 is the Arctic Barrage (the advancing overhead ice axe) right?
  2. If So, How do you set the AI to do a low attack in order to practice the BF4 KB?
  3. You have this combo B32D1, 13-BF4 into bomb setup, written twice in the midscreen (no KB) and after testing it, it does 234, not 218 (more dmg ftw)
Im loving these combos so far :D

  2. Record your opponent doing a d1 in practice mode.
  3. I'll check when I get home. Wondering if they changed the damage.
I also hear that Frost has a vortex, but I haven't seen it yet.

Playing on Xbox here and this variation is listed as "Frost-Byte". I think "In Defiance" was the default one but it came with the divekick thing instead of Arctic Barrage.

Anyway, I really like the character and this variation is cool.

Some combos with DB3 aka Cyber-Head. There's seemingly some small inconsistencies with how the move juggles based off spacing or perhaps what strings you do. Some string seems to give a higher juggle(besides obvious like 43 launcher), not 100% sure. Could just be the awkwardness of juggling with 344.

Corner:

13~DB3, 1~DB3, D1~DF2 (246, 271 AMP)
13~DB3, 1~DB3, 13~DF2(263, 287 AMP)

43~DB3, 13~DF2 (234, 263 AMP)
43~DB3, 1, 1, 13~DF2 (247, 275 AMP)

344~DB3, 13~DF2(247, 275 AMP)

That 344-DB3 doesn't work for me at all. The DB3 completely whiffs on hit. I'm testing against Frost with Frost. =\ Female hitbox issue?

Yeah I was testing it on Liu but evidently it doesn't work on Frost, just tested it on Jacqui too and it whiffs against her as well. You can actually combo do 344~DB3 midscreen though! So if you have that spacing near the corner jusssstttt right...

It does seemingly work on males though.

B2212(KB)
  • Midscreen: B2212(KB) > B2~bomb. (Only good follow-up I found midscreen)
  • Corner: B2212(KB) > walk a little forward > 1~DB3 > 1 > 13 > DF2(amp) = 320.57 dmg
Consistent Punish (can also end with bomb (DB2) for a setup)
  • 43 > DF2(amp) = 192.20 dmg
Wonderful Consistent Setup midscreen
  • B32D1 > B2~Close Bomb (DB2B) > Dash (walking wont work) > Grab
Ill post the combos that are universal in the other thread also

I haven't read the comments yet but you can add a standing 1. B32d1, 1, dash 13~bf4. I'm trying to main her even if she is considered awful.

Well, the recent patch made her headbomb have 3% damage and buffed to 8 active frames. I'm finding that the damage buff really isn't too important, but I don't mind. The increased active frames are very interesting though.

If you have a bomb out and hit them with D4, they are 100% guaranteed to stagger into the bomb now. They used to be able to jump out due to the lack of active frames. (I think this will help a lot with her corner for sure.) For example: if they are already frozen, do a close bomb and immediately D4. They either 1) get hit by the bomb if they aren't blocking or 2) block the bomb and then the 8 active frames allow you to dash forward and jail into almost any follow-up starter or throw.

It's been a while for me but it feels easier to convert into bomb freeze with stuff like blade spin and sweep. And it probably catches people a bit easier when they are trying to move to evade it. Feels more fun
 
Okay that looks neat! Also, I'm glad it only took them a year to figure out that maybe 50% scaling was ridiculous for the hardest-to-land freeze (ofc then the jumpkick scaling removes corner damage)...
