Help me!! I can’t find a new main!

Basically, I’ve started playing mkx again before it dies out for mk11 in hopes of practicing ready for when it comes out in April. I used to play a lot in 2015/16. I Mained liu kang duellist and people could not handle the pressure and gimmicks. My second main was sonya and people didn’t know how to handle her mixups. The problem I’m having is that people now know how to counter these two things very well in combination with whatever patches hit Liu Kang while I was away. I wanna learn a new character to see me over the next couple of months, someone who either has great frame traps or good pressure with setups and mix ups usually works well for me. Any suggestions would be great!

You could keep going with liu and sonya and you'll get stronger with them since people know the counters now.

To be fair, the top players say that mkx is not really a good way to prepare for mk11 because of how different that game will be.

I definitely don’t want easy wins but thanks for that reply. Thanks to the people who actually suggested characters. I know mk11 will be loads different it’s mainly for the hype factor tbh. I didn’t wanna play someone popular like scorpion or lao. I like the pressure strings of Liu Kang but people are just so wise to it now. Sonya just doesn’t feel right in my hands. I have been experimenting with triborg. Cassie is one I’ve never had the hang of the run cancel after back flip which basically renders her useless without mastering that. I may give Erron Black a go, what variations you suggest?

I bought mk9 on sale for 5 bucks yesterday. It’s the first fighting game I have ever bought on PC and I haven’t touched mk9 since the ps3. It’s like a new game to me so I’m in the same boat lol.

Smoke is fun, Predator is really fun and easy, Cassie is harder but awesome and I would have suggested Mileena but she was more fun pre-nerf. Johnny A-list is pretty good.

I can do run cancels kinda but I’ve only practiced the easier ones like scorpions. I can’t do Dvorahs run cancel at all. I’ve not tried liu DF run cancel cos I heard it was strict timing. I’ve tried predator but he just seems more zoney than anything. I’ve never actually tried a list Johnny

Not really, just takes practice.

Yeah but well worth the practice, and once you know it you know it. Flame Fist Liu is pretty good tho and he’s not hard

Nah man, use the variations with the traps for Predator, it's SO FUN. And one of the best brutalities in the game.

Yep, hunter. It's pretty easy. You can do 20+ damage without cancels and just his specials and grabs.

Maybe I'm on crack, but i feel like practicing Injustice 2 is almost better than practicing MKX if your goal is to get ready for MK11.

Just to add to this, it would be nice to play a variation that not many people play and isn’t seen every day. I’ve considered mournful Kitana but I duno much about her. Or jax. Just trying to find potential in different characters I suppose

heavy weapons jax is pretty fun
