Hip Hop Heads, Should There Be Rules To Rap Beef?

JBeezYBabY

Now before you look at me all crazy.....let's talk.

Apparently, this is a topic of discussion because of Drake (Sigh I know) FINALLY addressed the Pusha T diss on Labron Jame's new show on HBO, The Shop, in this clip

Drake felt the line talking about his friend with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) drew the line and went too far to the point where Drake said, "Somebody needs to punch you in your fucking face."

With that said, as big as a star Drake is, people are saying that there are rules to rap beef. Others, like myself, that grew up listening to hip hop feel there are no rules, just like life.

How do you guys feel. Do you feel there are rules to rap disses? (Beefs) Do you feel there should be rules to this? Or do you feel there are no rules and Drake is just being soft?

Let's have a discussion ;)

Cam'ron once said hip-hop beefs are just an act, but I think we all know that these beefs can result in real violence. Threatening people's lives is illegal and could be prosecuted if these threats are deemed "credible".

Cam'ron is a damn act! Hes weak. Tupac and Biggie was a REAL beef that resulted in DEATH! My feeling is this, hell NO theres no rules in hip hop beefs, BUT if any were to come up it should of happened after the death of the two legends mentioned above.

The purpose of hip-hop beefs (if someone isn’t just looking for a boost in sales anyway) is to ruin someone’s career.

I think you need to go as low as you feel you should. If the audience thinks you went too far, it’ll show in your sales.

If you could charge someone for making threatening remarks on a track, 50% of rappers should go to jail, lol. I think that’s extreme. 99% of the time, it’s all talk. Maybe like once a year a real fight (usually just a fist fight) breaks out.

I also don’t think Biggie’s and Pac’s deaths were a direct result of their beef, but I have my own theories on that.

Like Shug and Diddy know who killed them but will never tell? Yeah, thats my theory im thinking too that of course did something to do with the police. BUT we wont ponder on that much.

Interesting thing you said about sales tho. But i feel the fans of that said person in the beef would want them to go far. Thats what they're supposed to do. Hell, Tupac threatened to kill Biggies KIDS! How much fucking further can you go from there!?

Nowadays, people are so fucking soft. Drake is NOT build for rap beefs or rap battles. Hes already successful, still dominating the charts, and getting his money. From now on, he should NEVER EEEEEEVER get into anymore rap beefs for the remainder of his career. PERIOD!

But....i think his ass still wants to take down the kingpin behind Pusha T.....and thats Kanye.

Why should you be allowed to threaten somebody's life in a song but if you make the same exact threat on Twitter or Facebook, you get arrested? It makes no sense. Don't try to use "because it's art" as an argument. A death threat in Haiku is still a death threat.

Also, a lot more rappers than Biggie and Tupac have been killed as a result of hip-hop beefs. Those are just the two that stand out the most.

I feel u, but rap goes by a different code. And thats the STREETS! Pressing charges of threats on a song is snitching. Snitching will get you shunned out by the WHOLE rap game and peers. Snitching is even worst than taking an L.

If the media/public found out that any rapper went to the cops about someone threatening them in a beef song, that rapper’s career would be over in a second.

Plus, I don’t think the cops would do a thing about it.

Of course the Rapper wouldn't go to the police, but the song would be out there for anyone to hear.

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
Cam'ron once said hip-hop beefs are just an act, but I think we all know that these beefs can result in real violence.
Cam'Ron also started the Stop Snitchin' Campaign and once said on 60 minutes that he wouldn't turn a serial killer into the police even if he lived next door, but then after that it turns out that he also filed a police on some dudes who beat him up at a basketball game.

I don't know about hip hop beefs needing rules, but I think the motto of the story is don't listen to Cam'Ron

I see you read Cam'ron's Wikipedia page.

My point about Cam'ron was that even if the threats aren't considered credible or real, put the two beefing rappers at the same event and some bad shit will probably go down.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if something does happen to another famous rapper. I hope not, but that's the reality of beefing like that.

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
Also if Drake wants to see Pusha T punched in the face then he can do it himself or stop talkin. Don't throw stones if you live a glass lifestyle with your glass ego and glass jaw and your glassy fuckin eyes
You know early on in his "career" his ass and his crew would routinely get his ass run off my block and a few other in our borough. Then spit madd love like he lived there.

Bitch made then. Bitch made now.

Video of you running Drake off your block
From 2000 and on? What phone had that? I didn't even have a proper Motorola back then that took even a grainy picture. Wait. I had the bulky one piece with the greenish screen. Ain't no one had a camera phone that shit would get snatched right quick.

Other peoples would show love like Saukrates, Bishop, and rassthug would show mad love and cred.

And we don't "DO" videos lol.

Oh and no rules. You call out someone and you step up. Then that's it. We got enough rules already.

The best shall prevail look at the G Unit era. 50 ate a many established dudes in the game. Sat his ass down with knife n fork like Tony Soprano stabbing the plate drinking wine spitting gully n ugly lyrics getting hits after hits #1 after #1's. Even Em and his crew. Look at Raqem and DMX, or Ghostface and 50, or even GZA and 50 which that beef ended extremely quickly. Don't fuck wit tha WU!

If there were rules in this here game back then then artists wouldn't have made the bills the way they did back then because heads would pick up and listen to hear what so and so had to officially say.

Nah let's keep it real.
