Alright, well since we're in TYM golden days hype mode, let's get in there. So since I like to work from the facts, let's look at Sonic's track record of tweeting immediately after losses (and it's ironic that we consider just making Top 8 a 'loss' for him, but let's call it that):

Like I said, it's consistent. Blames himself, promises to play better or re-focus if he's been slacking. He is not the guy to go ham on the meta immedialy after an event in salt. In fact he's been one of the more gracious losers on Twitter for most of his career. Hangs and plays casuals, says how much fun he had, looks forward to the next event.

I looked for instances of him salting out immediately after one of these events, and all I could find is him asking once if Gunslinger would be buffed. In general he mostly just focuses on himself and says he'll figure something out. So (shocker) it's possible that he's just telling the truth, and people should stop trying to force these other narratives on someone who's been pretty direct when he doesn't win.

...except nobody accused him of being a serial salty complainer. We're discussing a particular incident. You've lost me here.

Yeah and the entire point was that he's likely just being honest here, like he typically is after he doesn't win. If he says he's not digging the meta and is going to take a step back so he can focus on DBFZ, there's no reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt.

you make a good point, and Injustice is a pretty garbage game, so he's probably just being honest

If he doesn’t like the meta and isn’t passionate about the game, why would he force himself to play? Especially when he can just play DBFZ instead.
He was adequately passionate to register, play, and place top 8. More importantly, the community's best player trashing the game on Twitter and no-showing a top 8 online tournament devalues the scene and its players.

Yea. I understand if he isn't feeling the game anymore, but pulling a stunt like that only hurts the community and it's players who still enjoy the game. He can do what he wants though. He's SonicFox lol.

Wait, I misread what you said. I thought you meant he just didn’t enter, I didn’t know he made top 8 and just didn’t play. My mistake.

I wouldn't say he was passionate to enter. Seeing his cocky demeanor, he entered becuz he knew he could and place top 8.

I gotta say I was reading top tournament players twitter prior to watching CEO pools and top 8 and after going back and watching the tournament I was scratching my head if they were talking about the same game.

We just had a character loyalist, Semij, who's pretty much been busting his ass off week day and out finally take a major (mind you his character has been nerfed in every patch as well). Biohazard's whiff punishing is on another level. Good amount of character variety, and top 24 was a damn near nail biter. King's run was also something to behold as well, perfect display of utilizing patience and defense. Overall the level of footsies in this game has been pretty damn amazing. Only complaint is how people keep putting themselves into the corner, but other than that, level of play has been beautiful.

Again, I fucking love this game and watching it competitively, and I can go on about how much I enjoy it. Just seems like a lot of the people on twitter have a sheep mentality, hence why I'm staying off it for the time being. I'll be putting more energy into TYM and the Cyborg forums instead.

I will leave my seal on you!
Kotal humiliates Goro, who was a multiple MK champion, but then gets slapped in story mode by Kung Jin. Fucking NRS, man. Get your shit together.
So if a Shaolin memeber like Kung Lao can beat Kintaro in the MK9 story mode, or a Ninja like Cyber Sub-Zero can beat both Goro and Kintaro at the same time, how another Shaolin member like Kung Jin who is also from the same familiy line a Kung Lao beating someone who also beat Goro like Kotal Kahn isnt good?

I really don't thnk NRS are the ones who need to get their shit together.

Indeed, CEO was an awesome tourney for IJ2, and whatever negative things Sonic or some others might have say was out ouf salt. Then again TYM are far from perfect as well and they can damage the community in an even bigger way like I said throught this thread, so the damage to community and the scene can come from all directions. I'm not sayting you can't be mad, but if you're going to complain, at leasy be logical with your rants. I guess that like KingHippo said in the podcast, I wish people were smarter.

EDIT: I will add to that as well, it's not that the games or the mechanics are not in the same level of others like it was mentioned earlier, it's the negativity that hruts the scene. If people were less complaning and labbing more, instead of being negative and abusing NRS for listening to them, the scene could've been much better.
