Dealing with Starfire: by Theo

Charybdis

We are returned! Death to the False Emperor!
Starfire, one of the first DLC characters released in Injustice 2, has been giving people some serious headaches for months now. With her combination of chip, zoning and meter build, Starfire occupies that weird slot where she's a top tier character but doesn't have the bombast of a Wonder Woman or Black Adam, the immensely broken bull**** of a Firestorm or the patently OP tools of a Catwoman or Supergirl, so the players tend to under prepare for her. This itself then leads to salt when you release you absolutely should have prepared more and are thus now getting your back blown out, with no idea of what's safe and what's not.

This will be the only Starfire picture contained in this article, because I'm at work and I am NOT having that shit on my computer when someone walks by.

But what can you do? Study? Lab? Actually train? Jesus, perish the thought.

Luckily, Theo's got your back!

Theo's recently had excellent tutorials on Superman, shimmies and levelling up your general play and now he brings you another on dealing with Starfire! He identifies her as the character that gives him the most t rouble, so he labbed up and is now sharing the proceeds of that labbing with the community as a whole.

Ain't he a gent? Go and tell him how much of a gent he is on Twiter here: https://twitter.com/fgc_theo

I think it's interesting how things develop because she's had this chip and shenanigans from jump street, but a lot of people fixate on a character's cons and not their strengths so these excellent perks have been overlooked until someone invests in rocking people's shit with her.

These types of counter play and meta evolution videos are vital. A lot of people who truly NEED them probably won't watch them, but even for someone like myself who has invested a lot of time in playing Starfire and learning the match up, I still was able to find some useful insight and am very appreciative that people are putting in a lot of effort.

Counterpoke with armoured DB2 at all times.
When I was first playing against her back on her release sorta time, I always got beaten for being too patient against Starfire. Against most zoners you have to play patient game and work your way in by creeping forward in a lot of situations and I feel like Starfire probably has the most options to abuse your patience out of almost any character in the game.

Stardust, charge, trait, and hair flip all sort of work around punishing patience. Especially stardust imo.

I think she's one of those characters you really have to go learn your options against, can't just beat her through experience alone imo. Extremely strong character in any case.

aside from dealing with stardust shenanigans, not a whole lot of good ways to deal with charge, and jumping back in the middle of your pressure is not a "good" way of dealing with it.
