The surviving variations for mk11

If mk11 got rid of variations, and assuming the game would be legacy in some aspects, imagine only one variation of each character can transfer its style to the mk11 character (if that character makes it into the game). Choose which variation you want to survive.

Here are the ones I would choose:

Jax - Pumped up
Sonya - Covert ops
Kung Lao - Hat trick
Kenshi - Balanced
Kitana - Royal Storm
Scorpion - Inferno
Sub Zero - Unbreakable
Mileena - Ravenous
Takeda -Ronin
Cassie - Hollywood
Jacqui - Full auto
Kung Jin - Ancestral
Tanya - Kobu Jutsu
BoRaiCho - Drunken Master
Shinnok - Necromancer
Kano - Cybernetic
Johnny - Fisticuffs
Erron - Gunslinger
Liu - Dualist
Ermac - Spectral
Kotal - Blood god
Reptile - Deceptive
Ferra-Torr - Vicious
Dvorah - Venomous
Raiden - Master of Storms
Quan - Summoner
Goro - Kuatan warrior
Tremor - Metallic
Triborg - Cyrax

There it is...
If they're killing of variations I see them going with the most characteristic of their respective character

Like I don't see fisticuffs coming back because knuckle duster punch spam isn't Johnny, he's based on Jean Claude van Damme it's all about kicks.

Takeda I would think lasher or SR because he was trained by scorpion.

Mileena basically any of em would work.

Sub, has to be GM etc

My thirst for knowledge cannot be quenched
Tanya had her Kobu Jutsu and pyromancer abilities except for the dust, but Dragon Naginata is an unique detail for her

Dragon Fangs Goro would be my pick for the version of Goro to be the carry over.

Fang spin has similarities to his classic advancing spin attack.
Classic fireball.
Plus frame pressure as a reliable mind game aspect.
Dragon Gangs are his classic weapons of choice.

Hopefully they do more focused characters with their classic characteristics intact.

My reason to pick fisticuffs is that he is based on staggers and therefore its style is closer to his mk9 form, which became a classic for many of us. Stunt double is crazy weird design and A-list is based on cancels, which I don't like as a mechanic.

In general I also think they will go with the most characteristic or hype variation of the previous game. In Cage's case, I think DJT's fisticuffs gave the most memorable moments in competition for the character.

No it didn't it was busted as fuck and braindead and then totally useless for the rest of the game.

Mk9 cage isn't like any of the variations in mkx

I do agree that they should make it more mk9 like but fisticuffs is just a boring badly designed variation with a low skill ceiling and is difficult to properly balance

I think the variation was the closest to mk9 Cage for the aforementioned reasons. Speedbag was comparable to f33b3 string. Hit confirmable staggers and simple gameplan. Anyway, it's up to debate.

It wasn't that hard to balance, nrs just didn't do a good job in this case, and they reacted too late. His last changes (mainly mb fistbump, the idea I advocated for over a year) were a step in the right direction and I would love to see how they continue it.

Anyway, looking forward to listening more suggestions for the surviving variations, guys!!

It is better this way
Johnny would definitely be A-List, he was even A-List in the story so canocially Johnny would even be A-List over Fisticuffs

Cursa

Counterpoke with armoured DB2 at all times.
Why don't they make new variations if they're going to add them

Second Saint

A man with too many names.
Surprised you picked Venomous for D'vorah. I'm a venom main, and even I wouldn't have picked it as the the onr to base her off of going forward. Swarm Queen is just too iconic.

Venomous feels cooler to me with those bug spray restands. Swarm Queen has cancels, and I simply don't like that mechanic, it's a potential source of brokeness, and I would prefer if it didn't come back.

It was the venom mechanic that always did it for me. Nothing better than stacking up a running dot with such ridiculous growth potential that it could make the next hit utterly ridiculous damage if you maximized it or landing a 21% throw.

If Venomous could have launched off f1 like the other variations, she'd have made a lot more waves.
