Wrestlemania 34: Mustafa Ali as Sub Zero!

We are returned! Death to the False Emperor!
As you’ve almost certainly heard, there was a little something going down in New Orleans this weekend: Wrestlemania 34!

The sports-entertainment extravaganza has witnessed some of the defining moments in modern pop culture, from the birth of Hulkamania, the dawn of the Stone Cold era, the crowning of John Cena, the Streak, the eternal push of Roman Reigns and, most importantly of all, that really awkward-in-hindsight match where Roddy Piper went half-blackface against Bad News Brown.

This is more racially uncomfortable than the Booker T-Triple H feud, and that was really uncomfortable.

The most recent edition of the Granddaddy of ‘Em All was headlined by Roman Reigns (again) facing off against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Belt, but interested was piqued among keen eyed viewers at the end of the pre-show undercard, when Mustafa Ali took on Cedric Alexander for the Cruiserweight Championship.

Which is not the same as the previous Cruiserweight Championship or the previous Light Heavyweight Championship. Also, it's for dudes who weigh max 205 pounds, also known as "big ****ing dudes* in the world outside Vince's Palace of Muscular Malice.

Ali was unsuccessful but he won the hearts of millions by turning out in what was clearly a Sub-Zero inspired costume!

Kuai Liang or Bi Han?

Complete with blue LEDS making up the famed mask and V-pattern of the Lin Kuei assassin, shout out to Ali for representing Mortal Kombat on one of the biggest stages in the entire world!

Let's be honest, it makes Evo look like a bingo hall.

You can check out the entire Wrestlemania event, and the entire back catalogue of hundreds of PPVs from WWE, WCW, ECW, NWA and beyond on the famed WWE Network here: http://www.wwe.com/wwenetwork
Your first month is free and then it’s just ten bucks a month, which is well worth it if you’re into the graps as much as me.

Also, if I can indulge the pro wrestling mark in me, shout out to the NXT Takeover from the night before. That ladder match. Bah Gawd King.

This ends about the as well as you'd imagine for the dude in the yellow (EC3) and the dude on the ladder (Velveteen Dream).

As always, check back to TYM for all the latest on Mortal Kombat, Injustice and everything NRS!

I still don't know what people like about wrestling.
Ah I fell in love when I was a kid and I've stuck around. The athleticism, storytelling, the pomp and circumstance, the absurdity....it's a guilty pleasure

I used to watch it as a kid when I thought that shit was real. Then quickly grew out of it when I realized it's not.
I never thought it was real tbh, I grew up in a boxing family and as long as I can remember I've done kick boxing and then MMA and jiujitsu. I always figured that if a dude in boxing gloves can knock a guy out with a punch then a sledgehammer to the skull cannot be legit.

If anything it just makes me like it more

i fell out of love myself but its just because my favorite wrestlers retired so i stopped watching.

BUT its just a soap opera in play form. theres storytelling, over dramatics, and action. Thats why its good and people watch it. If you think of it less of a sport and more of a play where everyone does their own stunts then you can see the appeal.

Till this day I am STILL a hardcore wrestling fan and I watched Mustafa's entrance. That shit was AWESOME and honestly, the best entrance uniform of the night! Wherever he got that mask and hand thingy, I want! I NEED! I GOTS TO HAVE IT!

Don’t know what to put here
I got back into wrestling about a year ago mainly because I enjoy watching the athleticism of the wrestlers. Hell now a days even the women division is lit. Not like back in the day where they had shitty matches and all that mattered was bra and panty matches for them. I respect them and what they do fake or not

You really should check out NXT and some NJPW stuff.

The 6 way ladder match on the last NXT makes the old TLC matches look like pillow fights

They are really pushing the Women's revolution with wrestling and sometimes they even outshine the guys! For instance, that Charlotte Flair VS Asuka match was definitely top 2 matches of the night!

I still need to see Takeover cuz my friends have been talking about that Ladder match. Have not yet seen NJPW tho! What day and time does it start, and where can I watch it ?Question mark?

I will leave my seal on you!
Saw WrestleMania yesterday, and DAMN it was an awesome WrestleMania. The highlight for me was of course the return of The Undertaker, seeing The Deadman is always excellent, and everything regarding Undertaker's match with John Cena, from the build up to the match all the way up to the match itself and then the very end, it all went perfectly. The rest of the matches on the show delivered as well. AJ Styles Vs. Nakamura, Charlotte Vs. Asuka, the IC Title Triple Threat Match, The Mixed Tag Team Match with Ronda Rousey etc;

As for the the topic of the OP, yes it was great to see Mustafa Ali as Sub-Zero, also I just found out that Cedric Alexander's entrance jacket was based on the outfit of the Black Panther, who is a character in Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, so it was like a Mortal Kombat Vs. Marvel crossover fight in a wrestling match form. I actually would love to see a Mortal Kombat Vs. Marvel crossover game, two of my all time favorite franchises, it would be a dream come true. Reptile Vs. Wolverine, Scorpion Vs. Magneto....

...one can dream. :)
