What started in 2016 with a 13 player UMK3 tournament grew in 2017 to 17 players for UMK3, and multiple tournaments aside from that! Last year we featured 1v1 UMK3 and we also had TEAMS 2v2 UMK3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and UMK3 Random Select!

Last year we also featured the tournament on arcade hardware and we will be doing the same this year! We will, of course, have MAME again as a backup, but having the tournament on GENUINE ARCADE HARDWARE (with adapters for pad players) was awesome!

Will post more info as it is available, but the plan for the upcoming event appears to be the same as last year. We'll start the UMK3 tournament early - will probably start around 1 PM this year to optimize stream time for this event and others.

Format will be the same:
1v1 UMK3, the main event - 3 out of 5 double elimination, winners/losers/grand finals 4 out of 7.
2v2 Teams UMK3 - 2 out of 3 double elimination, winners/losers/grand finals 3 out of 5.
3v3 MK Trilogy N64 - 2 out of 3 double elimination, winners/losers/grand finals 3 out of 5.
Random select UMK3 - Round Robin

Entry fees will be $10 venue fee and individual tournament fees are TBD.

Rules are fairly simple - winner is character locked, Noob Saibot is banned in all events

Starting this event thread EARLY so we can get this promoted! @Shock bring the NY/NJ crew. We can reach out to the Chicago crowd as again, GENUINE ARCADE HARDWARE! @nwo from out west @Juggs from teh dirty south and any other place in the country/world, come GET IT IN OHIO! @MRIGOTBASS

There's always plenty of stations for casuals and last year again we had a HUGE setup for casuals at McLov1ns place. Hopefully he's willing to host us again after the tourney!

Simulcast! twitch.tv/arcadelegacy and youtube.com/caffeinefreedom

I'll also post hotel information here as it becomes available.

@tehdrewsus Can you add the address? City, St, Zip, address, and possibly the phone # for the event and name of the venue?

Is there a chance that Crazy Dominican or Marvirrasta shows up?

I miss playing with them so much just like in the good old times.
That match... Marvirrasta vs Crazy Dominican... that was crazy shit.

Where's that photo @Juggs ?

We'll play the 1v1 tournament on arcade hardware which currently has Juggernaut's hack on it, so the MAME backup for 1v1 will also be on Juggernaut. the 2v2, random select, and other side events will be held on Revision 1.3 Beta - THIS REVISION DOES NOT CONTAIN GAMEPLAY CHANGES. Simply bug fixes and factory fixes.

Get it in Ohio 2018 is now less than a month away! We will be running AT LEAST 4 events - UMK3 1v1, UMK3 teams 2v2, UMK3 random select, And N64 MKT 3v3!! Here's where you come in!

Join the event! Come hang out with us at Arcade Legacy in Cincinnati Ohio! April 7-8th, main event starts saturday at 1PM! Entry fee is a blanket fee of $10 venue which is good for BOTH days, and then $10 for UMK3 1v1, and $5 each for the rest of the events. You can enter as many or as few as you'd like!
If you can't be there, be a contributor! $10-20 will get your name mentioned throughout the tournament as a donor! $25+ will get your name mentioned, and if you have a youtube channel or twitch stream, we'll mention it and put it in the chat portion of the twitch stream both days of the event!

If we get $200+ of sponsorships, EVERYONE who contributes will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Send through paypal directly, to [email protected] - this way there's no % removed for another party handling money.

For ANYONE having issues with a $10 venue fee. Let me try to put you at ease.

First off, I'll say I make absolutely zero money off running this tournament. I usually end up dipping into my own pocket for trophies, and upping the prize fund.

Now, here's what the venue fee - $10, one time, good for BOTH days, gets you:

Access to Arcade Legacy and all its facilities (it's amazing) - it also allows us to do the following:

Use TWO of their UMK3 machines for this tournament. Use their Midway/JAMMA capture card to stream directly off the arcade board. They've also paid for Undamned JAMMA converters that allow USB pad hookups to one of the UMK3 Machines. Use one of their N64's, controllers, and a copy of MK Trilogy (I provide one of my own, N64 and MKT), and 2 TV's to hook those consoles to. A 1ms 25" monitor to hook my PC up to for MAME use during the tournament. And, ALL of their streaming equipment, and using their Twitch stream. I also know for a fact that Jesse at Arcade Legacy has spent money making sure the controls for the UMK3 machines are in tip top shape. So $10 is a deal, no?

Most tournaments, big or small, are held in hotel ballrooms/conference rooms and I can guarantee you the cost of that for TWO days is much more substantial than what will most likely be less than $250. If we have 25 guys attending the tournament, that's what Arcade Legacy gets - for ALL of what I mentioned above.

@Shock @STORMS or anyone else you guys can think of... what does it usually cost to rent a hotel conference room/ballroom for a tournament for TWO whole days? On a weekend?

If you are booking like 250 rooms at a hotel you can get a great deal, some places might not even charge for the room, but typically renting a ballroom at a hotel for a weekend is in the thousands.

hey guys, will this be streamed?
man i would love to come to play with u guys, but its too far and expensive.

@tehdrewsus
u r the TO right? do you have paypal?

Alright guys, here's some last minute info prior to the event!

BE THERE AT NOON. JUST LIKE THE EVENT SAYS! This will give you plenty of time to setup and make sure the tournament STARTS AT 1PM. KOMBAT BEGINS AT 1PM.

We'll start the main event (UMK3 1v1) at 1PM. We will start the simulasted MK Trilogy event at 3PM! This will give us time to continue through and get doubles started and hopefully finished the same day.

Here's the timetable:
12PM - Kombatants arrive, register, and prepare.
1PM - 1v1 Tournament starts
3PM - MKT 3v3 Tournament starts along with simulcast.
5-6PM - 1 Hour (ONE HOUR!!) hard stop for Kombatants to eat and return. This space of time will also be used for casuals, money matches on stream, etc.
6PM - Continue both tournaments. As soon as UMK3 Tourney resolves, we will begin 2v2 and continue the MKT tournament. From there we will play until the venue closes.

SUNDAY:
12PM - KOMBATANTS ARRIVE
1PM - Random Select UMK3 Tournament
3PM - (simulcast) UMK3:TE Tournament
TBA - whatever we can decide! Money matches, Mirror matches, Randper matches, we will find something!!!!

Also pay no attention to the confirmed RSVP section... We expect around 20, from confirmations on other forums and discord.
