Who's still playing Aquaman?

Honestly I think the scoop bnbs are fine, Aquaman should be getting his damage from trident rush chip and mb tentacle strike which the two of those things are really good chunks of damage for a character to be able to take. If anything, tentacle strike should be a little safe. I think it’s too punishable for what it is at this point. Aquaman still would get zoned out by zoned and couldn’t spam it, but I don’t see why Black Adam and Poison Ivy (on that note, Poison Ivy vs Aquaman is a solid cantidate for the worst matchup in the game) get such easy punishes on from the deep. He’s not launching you anymore.

But honestly he doesn’t NEED it, just use Aquaman vs the characters he should be used against and have a second character. Aquaman is a dope pocket character though.

He and deadshot were the strongest defensive characters in the game... they were both nerfed to shit tier and may only be viable in a few matchups or their are other characters that do what they do just way better.

It tells you something about the game.
If there are other characters who do what they do better, ie defense according to you, does it really say anything about the game? There's still strong defensive characters.

Genuinely not even throwing shade or anything, just asking. They were both toned down a bit too harshly though, and definitely in the wrong ways. I doubt that really "says anything about the game" though.

...more deadly than the dawn.
Based on the defensive way he's supposed to be played, he needs more damage from his incidental conversions. Stuff like d2 and b2 scale too much.

Bc u don’t understand. Now, there are characters that do what they do only better. They suck.

Pre patches there WERE the strongest defensive characters in the game. Not now. NRS didn’t want them making the game look bad at majors so they deleted them.

I’m feeling enthusiastic about Aquaman after his buffs and wanna main him again. Poison Ivy getting buffed is kinda shit for him, that’s a clean 7-3 imo, but Catwoman and Adam got nerfed and Aquaman has solid consistent damage now. I’m still gonna play Sub-Zero and maybe some Doctor Fate still but I’m really thinking Aquaman is a good and relevant character and does very well against many characters, but it’s still smart to have another character though.

What do you guys think about Aquaman?

I honestly think he's in a great spot. I always thought his neutral was fine, I'm glad he just got an improved way to convert instead of getting his tools changed. FTD/trident toss are great tools for counter-zone, his defensive tools (footsie strings/buttons and AA) are still great, and now he can get nearly 400 dmg for a 1-bar combo, which is great with his meter build.

His chart seems to have been affected positively by the nerfs to the top few characters. I agree he probably loses hard to Ivy, still to Black Adam, but Supergirl and Catwoman I now feel much better about. I don't think any buffs to other characters have changed the nature of matchups that already existed, I think he loses about the same number of matchups but now with a few more winning.

tldr: Neutral is unchanged, so the only "matchups" that changed really are the nerfed top-tier. However, the increased conversion potential makes all matchups a little less of a grind for AM, since he can use his great meterbuild to get bigger combo damage and setups.
