Let's assume that variations are not coming back for mk11.

In that case, explain which playstyle you want your favourite characters to have, and why. Should they be based on one mkx variation, a combination, something new...?

For Kenshi, Balanced form with some sword moves from Kenjutsu. Pure zoning and space control. Leave brokessessed silly design to rot.

For Cage, I want him to be stagger and chip based. No run cancels. Closest variation to that is fisticuffs. A mixture with mk9 cage would be fine too.

In general (but it won't happen) I would love to see 50/50 launching mixups extinct and every character to have either a low or an overhead starter, and a small string with opposite property that is not special cancelable, to fairly mix. Never liked the lottery of 50/50 launchers.

Neutral: Hell sparks
Footies: Hell sparks
Zoning: Hell sparks that goes behind the opponent
Combo: Hell sparks has its scaling lowered so it does 30% with 1 bar
Anything combo can and WILL be cancelled into Hell sparks.

Give me a fusion of jade/shang/shinnok or anyone of those and I will buy the game 12 times over.
If we could get a brainiac-ish character then I play that but I need to see tentacles and dive kicks. Fuck kung lao

For general gameplay stuff, I want the Variation system to be back. I think this time it should 2 Variations per character, and for returning characters from MKX, each char will have one returning Variation from MKX with some small tweaks, and one that is completely new. For example, bring back the Ninjutsu Variation for Scorpion, and then make a completely new Variation from scratch. For character specific stuff, I want Reptile to stay like he was in both MK9 and MKX, a versatile all-rounder who can do at least a bit of everything, with an emphasis on Zoning, space control, pace control and mobility. Also keep the Noxious Variation as his returning Variation.

If they could put everything together from the games since mk9, and mix it all together that'd be great. Allthough, i think a game without Clash would be much better. Just a simple combo break with various bars of meter is all that is needed instead.

Man, it's so hard to not speculate on the overall gameplay, but I'll follow OP's rules. Assuming variations aren't coming back...

I'd want Takeda to play most like Lasher. Good midscreen control and corner lockdown in some matchups. If kunais come back, I'd really like them to feel... different. Idk, they were extremely useful but the look and sound effects for them were really lacking imo. I'd be fine swapping kunai for his db2 being safer/plus midscreen the way mid kunai was. A character who dominates the midscreen and forces you to make hard reads but suffers at fullscreen and is only ok at point blank - that's what I want out of him.

DB2 = Ice Klone
DB1 = Frost Bomb, Shatter Bomb
DF1 = Ice Klone Toss
DB3 = Ice Wall (Parry)
DF3 = Ice Floor (Ice Trap)
BF4 = Slide
DF4 = Upward Iceball
DB4 = Ice Radius (the one that's Captain Cold's D4)
BF1 = Ice Aura

Bring back B12 and B2. You can decide on how the combo moves will be. idc.

And stop with the trolling towards Sub Zero mains, NRS.
