Concerned about GL's bad match ups

Exactly, I play Red Wolfs Batman often and he's like he's got gaps bro, learn em'. Ok buddy.
Batman has gaps but they're so tight and he can stagger his strings and trait cancel. If he has 2+ (or 1 and you have no meter) bats out those gaps become an even bigger mind game. It's way harder to defend against Batman than to play offense as Batman. Most Batman players (excluding the top of the top like Foreverking) can't defend against it either but they LOVE to act like they can.

So yea, try and learn the gaps and know your options, but defending against Batman will never be easy.

The best thing you can do against Batman is pushblock. Gets rid of trait, but the's still a nightmare to deal with. Feels like he can close the gap and just brush off our projectiles. It's a hard MU but I think we go even.

Challenging Batman with a staggering b1 is highly successful. We really beat him down in footsie range. If you can read a cross up j2 Lanterns walk speed is good enough to make Batman miss and get a full punish.

Also apply pressure and get him when he is down.

I recently posted tournament footage I had against what I consider a rather talented batman in the general discussion page.

Not that I am a pro or anything, but I feel pretty comfortable with the matchup.

Edit: Sometimes you are going to get beat up and lose a full health bar because that is the nature of Batmans pressure. That's OKAY. Keep fighting.

You can actually check Superman with your zoning if you play it right. Solid 5-5 imo. It's pretty even up close as well.
How do you advise dealing with Supermans pressure? And doyou just check his zoning with db2 and bf1?

That's one of the things about GL that I have some issue with. There are a lot of gaps in his offense that can be backdashed or poked through and the damage we do get via traditional BnBs are kinda unrewarding unless we go for setups/oki stuff. Unless that's just a me issue?
I mean, with the oki and cross up potential it's kinda fair. Although like you said pokes or MB B3's can be annoying. Maybe shorten the frame gap or learn to stagger strings more. Other wise a general damage buff would make GL pretty freaking scary.

I feel GL beats SM in the footsie department. Check him with b1 and mb b3 a lot when you can. Trait is 10 frames d1 or a perfect b1.

Pressure game is all read based, I tend to take no risks against his pressure and just block and wait for him to do something I know I can deal with. After F23 breath he has the option to jump to beat your B1 but if you wait you can just j.1 or anti air with d2. No point in trying to b1 after breath unless you're certain because if you whiff you get punished.

Tiger knee bf1 is really good because it stops his air movement and db2 is great if he does full screen zoning. If you are both building meter you always have the advantage because of your MB fireball, you can punish anything he tries to do. It's a game of patience but you win it if you don't mess up.

After breath I usually d1, if he does f2 after breath wouldn't that blow up b1 too? I just don't even try it. Ok db2 always seems good full screen if you don't get hit, it just feels uphill since if you get hit once you can get corner carried into death. Does d2 usually work against his j1?
