Your ideal roster and mechanics for MK11

if takeda is to return to mk11 they seriously need to balance out his design. none of these halfscreen normals with no hurtbox. it's super scrubby and doesn't promote skilled play or solid neutral.

Eddy Wang

Skarlet scientist
Easy, a Roster without Skarlet, nightwolf, shang and noob saibot its not a roster worth having in Mk11
NO Guests, fuck guests just this once.

MK9 playstyle
forget about runs, stamina and variations, fuck those.
Universal jump arcs
No disjointed hitbox jump attacks

New add: Roundhouse kick (u+4) universal for everyone
New mechanic: Crumple stun Counter hit moves, either as combo juggle starters or links

profit.

I would tend to agree that Takeda is scrubby, but I played Sub so I can't get too carried away lol

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
*cracks knuckles*
Okay...this is my prediction.

*...ahhhhhhh...uhh-ahh-ahh, uhh-ahh-ahh, uhh-ahh-ahhahhahhahhahhahh, ahhahhahhahhahhahhllrighty thennnnnnn...*

6 new characters, not counting DLC or unplayable big bad.
24 that already exist.
10 that weren't in the last game.
14 that were.

I predict only 3 of the 8 new characters from MKX come back: Kotal Kahn, Erron Black, and Cassie Cage.
Jacqui gets knocked up, Takeda dies, Kung Jin dies, D'Vorah's gone (maybe to return one day), Ferra/Torr's gone.
That's 3 of the 14.
The other 11 will be... *ohhhhhhhhmmmm* ...Kung Lao, Kenshi, Kitana, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kano, Liu, Ermac, Reptile, Raiden, Kano.
And from the MKDA/Deception stories, taking into account who's alive and who's dead, these are my Top 10 Characters That Need To Come Back:

10. Taven. If only because he's essential to the story arc, but he could also turn out awesome.
9. Shang Tsung. Because there's no fucking way he isn't out there somewhere.
8. Nightwolf. His soul finds redemption and cleansing in the Netherrealm and he returns to save Ermac after he's attacked by Shang Tsung (like in his MKX ending).
7. Shujinko. Because the Kamidogu and the 6 realms have been not just hinted at but all but woven into the background and concepts and so on of MKX and MK9 (remember the backgrounds of the Challenge Tower?) and I feel like he's inevitable/gonna be the Impostor Shinnok of MK11.
6. Havik. Chaosrealm. 'Nuff said.
5. Hotaru. Seido needs a leader.
4. Fujin. BECAUSE HE DESERVES IT DAMMIT.
3. Kabal. Don't call it a comeback. #BlackDragonBoyz
2. Daegon. The leader of the Red Dragon finally gets some major play.
1. Ashrah. a redeemed Oni with a holy sword. This has confusing yet satisfying story written all over it.

I'd rather SHOW than TELL ~ Poison Ivy
I'd like mk11 to have several new mechanics along with some refined old one

2) Takes away 20% stamina

I want it mk11 to be a R2 to block game with 30 base characters and 2 variations I'll list my top 5

1) Noob Saibot
A. Dark Magic - gives noob saibot access to his portals that he controls the distance of, and his soul ball
B) Dark Duo - allows noob saibot to summon his shadow in combo strings, grants him a teleport and air grab, also his running/slide/ shadow with upknee shadow moves

2) Kabal
A) Blades of Pain - Kabal uses his twin buzzsaw / blades in strings and has nomad dash in this variant

B) deadly assault- gains his ninja stars

MK1 is the best MK period.
Mk11 better have:

No variation system: splitting the core of a character 3 ways was innovative but ineffective and immune to balancing. A blind man could tell mk9 Lao shits on mkx Lao.

Roster: mk11 must rival mk9 in terms of roster and mixture. Mkx roster wasn't bad but it's forgettable.

No specific exclusive jump in and njp please: seriously make everyone with standard jump ins and njp. As a lao main I felt bad about my full screen jump in hat. Footsies bro.

Oh make all njp Same start up. Don't @me Quan chi mains. No stage weapons please. Just good ole fashion ass whipping mk.

LEARN FROM THIS
-Better backgrounds, just wasn't feeling MKX's. They are missing that special something, like look at any of the MK2 backgrounds and compare. MK9 had the best, the remakes of the old stages were perfect! Need more new stages that make sense in the MK universe.

Mechanics:

-have blocking optional back to block to change in options for those who want it.

-running should return, loved it in MKX.

-improve character stances. Wtf happened to Reptile's? It was so good in MK9.

-Get rid of switch stance for fucks sake.it serves no purpose other than having it there to trigger an X-ray.

-just please don't bring back the Kombat kids. Except Takeda, make him less dorky.

-have a limit to guest characters (preferably only 1, actually none). Besides, who else is left anyway? Michael Myers, Terminator, Robocop? Lol

-MK11 will most likely have a Big Boss character for pre-order DLC, if they're following tradition to their last 2 NRS games. Calling it now, Kintaro is the next pre-order DLC.

-new characters from MK11 I'd personally like to return:

-Erron Black
-Kotal Kahn
-D'vorah
-Takeda

Scrap the rest.

Mk11 characters returning from older games that weren't in MKX:

-Shang Tsung, complete with transformations
-Fujin
-Jade
-Noob
-Smoke

"I still got it...but not much of it"
Non Horror DLC and No Injustice 2 DLC. We MK fans had tolerated enough b***** DLC. If they include any Injustice DLC... It will "taint" Injustice image because those chars can't handle gore... And no more Horror DLC because... They will be downplayed horribly like Jason and Alien... and They don't really fit the MK design.
Horror characters fit MK perfectly.

SixPathsOfHate

Make triple skulls input BDF or DF Hold F
Bring back variations. 2 var is fine but I still pref 3
Give me more than 1 main villain pls.
Zoning was ok near the end of mkx's life but with more characters having teleports it could be better.
50/50's cause its a MK game and I dont like change.
No non-mk verse characters pls...
A Armageddon like story mode with a mk9 like arcade and ladder fights would crown the game top of the fgc for sure but mechanics>substance
Run mechanic was balanced towards the end of mkx imo.
Characters I want to see are
Hsu Hao
Mavado
Moloch
Noob Saibot
Shang Tsung
Sindel
Fujin
They can take ideas from mugen mk project and other fan made mk games. Overall MKX towards the end felt really good, most if not all variations could be played to a competitive level and for the most part felt different.

Israel

Noob
Lets not forget that flaming guy, that was added as a background fighter on THE PIT stage. I dont believe he was there off the jump, but after a patch...i think?

I think what Injustice 2 currently shows in terms of character movement and general options is rather satisfying. In terms of spacing it's probably better than anything NRS has ever made. I would definitely like to see that design philosophy in MK11, but I have no idea how well some important parts of that can be translated into block button system.

On roster, it will be mostly my personal favorites.
Raiden, as long as he isn't something uncharacteristic for him, like all-out rushdown character he was in MKX.
Shang Tsung, because where's our original Kung Fu wizard?

On the matter of guests and the like, for me it's less about them being present and more about execution, although I'd rather prefer more attention to MK universe proper.

More on gameplay. I would like NRS to dial back on things they tend to include in order to make games more "technical". I believe there's no good justification for more complicated inputs when you have simpler options. So far the worst offenders are extra directional inputs where fewer would suffice (dbf, fbf etc.) and the way empty cancels are implemented (it was taking about 6 buttons with an awkward timing to make one in MKX, whereas in GG or KI a single press does the job, for example).
For that matter, cases when there's no point not doing cancels and no cost to do them (o hai Grodd) don't make sense either. It can be merged into "vanilla" frame data, after all.

Oh, don't worry, I have enough strong feelings I wouldn't call entirely rational about some notions ITT. Like how "50/50 is what makes an MK game" or that introducing an entire host of seal clubbers and natural backstabbers as guest characters in this universe of face-to-face warriors is "perfectly fitting".
