Wonder Woman Matchup Guide / Discussion

Sooooooooooooooo things are much improved for me however Deadshot people who just run to the other side and spam projectiles, or "zone" if there is a difference, still ultimately triumph. I noticed that the graphic indicates this is about even. So I am just going to ask how do you successfully approach him (and Red Hood for that matter)? He has a weird combo that knocks me out of what I thought was outside sweep range (though the move is not a sweep--he fires downward and can vary the shots and add overheads).

Red Hood I just don't know what to do I think due to unfamiliarity. But with today's Deadshot matches it seemed like even though I didn't play poorly it is just a losing situation.

You guys discussion of Black Canary really helped me with that match-up and I have been doing better there. I am very grateful and I hope you can provide some help with GREEN LANTERN, Deadshot and Red Hood because I am almost to the point my sister is with those two.

Update: added Green Lantern. Wow was that wretched.

Versus Sub-Zero, you can parry his ice burst (regular and meter burn) and you can parry any of his ice statues. His sliding Killer Frost like move can go under your wake-up Up Amalthea Bash entirely. If you meter burn it, you will come down behind them and then sit there like you are waiting for your pedicure specialist to finish disinfecting her hands.

Opening d2 has caught their first move when it was slide and jump in. I had the best success doing that and then being very still and just reacting. Being too aggressive with the bashes and jump 3's will get you ice statued. I think his super hits low and jumping down shield toss was lovely in evading it.

I'm having a hard time against aquaman. I always get my shild tosses punished and whenever I get a punish he just traits out of f23 blocks it and then punishes me. Is this a losing mu?
Like was mentioned before, It's pretty much a free punish on any shield toss unless it's an IA. It's not a bad drill for learning them to go into practice and set his reversal to Tentacle strike. It has to be pretty on point to not eat tentacle.

One thing worth noting is a lot of the stuff he is probably punishing your shield tosses with make him vulnerable too. Trident Toss and Tentacle strike will let you get shield or shield bash out. His stuff will work better at a distance, and he will probably care less about playing keep out than WW, but I think WW is the only one in the MU that has an actual safe checking move - AI shield. It's just not the easiest of them to do.

I just mention all that because my first instinct was to end up holding everything he was doing after finding out he could punish all my stuff.

If it becomes a pattern, whenever you see trait up, cancel your f2

f2 -> backdash -> b2 / f2 -> parry -> punish / f2 > mb shield bash / f2 -> lasso

Also IA downward shield toss can't be punished by him if done close to the ground.
Adding to what is said above versus Aquaman, if he is cheesing you with MB tentacles to try to take the last of your life and you are hit, you can clash and get some life back.

This YouTube video shows some interesting approaches to the Black Adam, Aquaman, and Deadshot matches at the beginning of the video. These are not me (I wish!) but are of some WW players in a tourney.

Versus Captain Cold, her Bracelets of Submission parry will stop the giant area of effect freeze attack. You will remain unfrozen and the chill effect will dissipate.

I feel like this is a dumb question, but how do I deal with Harley's Tantrum Stance?

Hi, Everyone! I am having serious trouble versus Superman. Up close, I cannot seem to touch him and all attempts end up with me being in this loop of 2 punch combo, into frozen breaths or a throw.

I try to dash away but the 2 punch combo like teleport him to me.

What is the strategy against him. He even ignores our Supermove. Those were the ten most humiliating matches ever.

I know my problem when he is far away and just have to calm myself and make my way in. I just hope I can figure out what to do when I get there.

I have been working on this match up as well as 10 of my 20 losses in ranked is to superman players. The first thing I would suggest is you have to make sure they can't loop punches by making them worried about what you might do.

-Dealing with f23 loop
On the chance you block f23 trait or just f23 you can parry. parrying will protect u against d1, f23, mb f3 which results in you getting a punish. i mostly parry f2 and d12 punish for 40+%.
-Caution- doing this will make them start to jump after to deal with parry so mix in d2 as well as backdash try to make reads and be less predictable as a bad read on both side will end with high damage.

F23 ice breath
This is -1 on block so you want to challenge it with shield bash as it is an 8 frame move that will beat all his options so doing this will condition him to block after. so you can start the ji3 shenanigans after.

Laser
Try to alway not be past shield toss range. I try to be even closer such that should he jump in the air I can bf3 so that I'm under him when he does the laser. If you can't keep space try to simulate him movement and react to laser beam with shield toss or parry.

I haven't gotten used to her faster trait but I'm sure that will come in to play eventually.

Ultimately your goal should be to get superman to the corner as fast as possible cause there u can stand back and they will ultimately have to take risk to escape given his flying punch isn't what it use to be as you can shut that down with d2.

This MU isn't easy but I main robin and I can say I have more success with wonderwoman against him.

Hope this helps.

Here's my notes on Sub-Zero

Ice Ball/ MB Ice Ball

Ice ball is completely unsafe and mb ice ball is -8 with push back so bash wont punish but anything into ice ball or mb ice ball has a huge gap. You can d12, jump out, mb b3, b11, bash, shield toss but will catch backdash. Strings into mb ice ball are funny because all the same things apply but if you parry, there's enough time to b3 while Sub is still recovering. With Artemis' Strength and parry, I was able to get 559 damage using b3, j3, 3~lasso lol. That's meterless damage, bruv.
Also Athena's Power boosted shield toss will eat an iceball but not a mb ice ball.

Shatter Cancels
123~Shatter is a true block string if the 1 hits so always block low so that the 1 whiffs. If you did NOT get hit by the 1, this is beat out by reversal backdash. All other strings into shatter have frames where it can be reversal backdashed, or mb b3'd with the exception of 22~Shatter, which cannot be reversal backdashed (you'd still get hit) but a well timed backdash can escape this. Note that attempting to backdash or to mb b3 through shatter will get you hit by mb shatter. It is possible to trade with shatter with a d1 but I can't see where that would be useful. I can't seem to parry shatter either, maybe a result of the newest patch?

Klone Cancels

Klone cancels are interesting because 22~klone gets punished by d2 but at max range (max meaning 2 will whiff but 2(2) will hit), d2 will whiff but reversal lasso and shield punishes it. Same for f22~klone and 111~Klone where max range makes d2 whiff but can still be punished by lasso and shield toss. 123~klone is punished by shield toss and is in range both d2 and lasso but it will not punish. This means he'll block it, which will get rid of the klone, but you can be reversal slid after a d2. 33~Klone, you should never worry about this because the second part of 33 will whiff so no special cancel.
As a side-note, you can throw out a d12, expecting an ice ball or shatter and it won't put you into a klone but you will be whiffing.

Dede's, thank you! I tested this out in ranked today and it totally worked! It was work, of course, but it paid off and I won my matches versus Superman (well, Bizarro actually) fairly comfortably. Thanks, again!

Hi, Everyone. Soooooooooooo my borther and me played a lot of Supergirls today and lost to all but one of them. To me it felt like this matchup is now very much in Supergirl's favor. I always felt it so but my borther pointed out that I was just not patient. But now it seems Supergirl just doesn't give any (bad word)s at all. She can not just throw out stuff all the time and any time I move I was exploded.

So my question to the boards is: is it me or is this just not a match WW wins?

(And I mean that in the Injustice 2 video game world--I know that WW wins versus Supergirl in the books like everytime decisibly)

what options do i have against WW with aquaman? feels like she wins this one :/
I am like a total newb but in my Ranked matches against Aquaman after the updates I don't really think that much has changed depending on the style of the Aquaman. The ones I usually see are the ones that get ahead and tentacles for the rest of the match and that still works.

So the harrass and make them pay for impatience strategies still work. You just can't get a million point combo off of the tentacle now. Instead they just do more tentacle.

Do you have a recordings for this so we can see that way we know what you're losing to or what you should/shouldn't do.

The matchup recordings are red. It says they are on a different version of the game for some reason. I will see if we can get them with the mobile.

I am not sure if this question belongs here or in general. Please forgive me if it is misplaced.

The question is on the WW mirror. I noticed that neither me nor my borther could parry the shields tossed. Have any of you experienced that? It looked like the first hit was Mid and the second was High but I couldn't catch either one. For the bashes, both were Mids and I could catch both hits of it.

Am I looking for consistency of rules where here aren't any?

Shield toss is not considered as projectile. Normally you don't have to shield toss in mirror match. Because it's really unsafe. Even if you MB, the other wonderwoman can punish it with shield toss.

Sooooooooo we've been seeing a lot of Captain Colds and Starfires. We discovered that parry into backdash will help with the multihit attacks they have. For Cold's meter burn ice projectile parry the first high and immediately back dash. The second hit, a mid, will pass harmlessly through you. I twice was able to get parry to eat both hits but that is two times out of 25 trials. The parry into backdash worked every time.

I can't remember posting about the stalactites but parry eats those as well. It did not eat the ice wall anti-air thing.

Starfire is puzzling me at the moment. When Sub came out the burden seemed to be on sub players to figure out what to do. She ate his ice balls that everyone wanted to lean on. People have figured him out a lot more, but initially I didn't have much trouble dealing with Subs.

Starfire I'm having the opposite experience with. I'm goofing around with her to, and there is at least one thing that I'm not sure what to do about with WW. Starfire can df1 and cancel into her trait beam. It's low cost enough that she really doesn't run out of opportunities to keep doing it and it doesn't leave a lot of safe on the screen to hide in. MB roll is about the only thing I've gotten anything out of, and there is a limit to how much of that you can do.

A good cold is annoying. One guy had me in snow globes the whole time and when he didn't there was one in between us where he could get to me and I was just all sad puppy eyes about being out of ST range. He was much better that I was.

Hi, Goober! I found this on WW vs Captain Cold. Kitana Prime is using her here against Sonic.

He uses her meter burned shield toss chain to get around the snow globe. I usually just charge toward them knowing they will try to keep me there with a melee or jump in and so follow with a bash. It is risky but I am impatient and it costs me less here than versus Superman.
