Noble Dragon Wins Injustice 2 @ EVO 2017!

ABILITY TO FREEZE
I see a lot of people in here talking shit about Dragon winning with aquaman, but they did not go to evo and show how easy it is. Shit if it's that easy go win it.
I'm taking Evo next year with Aquashit. He wont be affected by upcoming patches because this is NRS definition of balanced/fair.

I'm actually not crapping on him in any way, however, I am critical of his decision to drop Ivy for Aquaman but I respect his choices and realizes it what got him the money. But, as far as respect is concerned, he definitely lost mine for sure.
Lol respect, all fighting games at evo or any major is about winning. Ask him if his 25000 dollar addition to his bank account demands respect. All I'm saying is everyone talks shit about pros, but don't have the balls to back it up.

A different player with a different character has won every single IJ2 major so far.
I haven't been keeping up but from what I have been keeping up with, this is what I got:
1. Flash (HoneyBee)
2. Scarecrow (Whiteboi)

So out of that (because I haven't been watching it lately honestly so forgive me if I'm missing some things,) that leaves us with 2 characters that are either deemed mid tier or bottom tier that has won a major of some sorts. So out of the many possibilities and outcomes, 2 is the magic number? That's not a good sign nor is it indicative of a rising trend. The fact that the majority of the majors have seen at least more than 5 players pick Aquaman, Batman, Superman, Black Adam, and now Catwoman, doesn't demonstrate character variety in any way.

Again, I could be wrong because I haven't been catching up with it (admittedly) but still that's looking glim.

1. Flash (HoneyBee) at Toryuken
2. Deadshot/Black Adam (SonicFox) at ComboBreaker
3. Scarecrow (Whiteboi) at CEO
4. Aquaman (Dragon) at EVO

The top 8 stream tonight featured Poison Ivy, Flash, Red Hood, and Robin in addition to the more typical Superman, Batman, Catwoman, Aquaman, and Black Adam. Flash was in Grand Finals.

This is the best at-launch balance of an NRS title in history.

Hell, who here wouldn't drop their main in an instant and learn Aquaman for a chance at $25k+? Let's not lie to ourselves.

Fact of the matter is, if he stuck with Ivy he would've lost to Hayatei and he wouldn't be the current reigning winner of EVO.
And the sad thing is, I agree with everything you are saying here too! But we can't ignore the fact that even with him making the winning decision to pick Aquaman, got him booed and a lot of people losing their respect fo rhim.

I thought you meant in actually winners of majors, not those who came close to winning. Those who WON an actual major using a character that isn't top tier, is lower than those who came close to winning by default.

The top 8 stream tonight was probably the most diverse this game will get at this point but that isn't by coincidence. This doesn't magically rub away all those majors where the majority (80-90% of the time,) have been with top tiers throughout. However you slice it, the odds are still low for those who want character diversity.

Who cared if he got booed. Dragons been hated since he has entered the scene for no reason. Every time people doubts him he proves people wrong.

I didn't say anything about tiers. I said that a different player, playing a different character, has won every major thus far. Which is true. How is that 'the same players and the same characters'? It's not.

Competitive fighting game play is always going to gravitate toward top tiers. Why take a knife to a gunfight?

You're the one saying you "lost respect" for an Alien player because he played Aquaman :D
So thank you for acknowledging that you didn't read my posts. Because reading posts in 2017 take up too much time I guess...

I lost respect for him due to the fact he dropped Ivy in favor of Aquaman going to the top 8 NOT because of he's some Alien player. The hell are you talking about?

First of all, nrs has a game to where you need 5 out of 30+ characters to win a major. Please

Let's not ignore the elephant in the room- Dragon is really good, but he also is really good at playing characters people don't like to watch. If he was swagging out with a really hype character, I'm sure people would support him. Playing Aquaman, though? That's a tougher sell. Decidedly not-hype character + big talent + big success = Instant community heel

EDIT: Congrats to Dragon and the rest of the placers, by the way. Looking forward to checking out the match log from today

POWER OF FEAR
I will never understand people complaining about what characters are used in a tournament where the sole purpose is to WIN. The point is to win, not to make all the cry babies happy by using a "non auto pilot" character. Who wouldn't use a character they know they can win with when 25 grand is on the line?
