Green lantern is the definition of balanced

Having not played injustice 1, and only playing around with it at the end of mkx to choose a potential main I think I'm less clouded than some of my green lantern friends. I hear alot on this forum about him not having his air and straight rocket limiting his damage and ability to counterzone effectively

What I mean by lantern being balanced is for every positive he has a negative, his gameplay truly makes you adapt to your opponent.

His zoning and counter zoning is good because you can enforce the threat of a 2 frame mb lantern blast. The negative of this is that it costs meter to counter zone and meter is required to net damage when you get up close.

In footsie range his jump 1 and B1 is strong but his full strings off it are able to be backdashed. He nets poor Meterless damage and only nets about 325 for 1 bar off his B13 if you optimise.

The only matchups he really has any problems in are the "top tiers" like superman and aquaman(not that bad of a matchup tho) that have great footsies and great damage with good counterzoning.

I would say that Green Lantern is in the ideal spot for this game, and would like other characters to be buffed or nerfed up or down to his tier.

Sorry you are right. it travels the screen straight away it making it a great counterzoning tool being able to punish most wiffed projectiles.

I agree. I don't think he should be changed at all. If the current top tiers get nerfed, as most expect, he will become top tier or close to it, even without changes.

Also agree. I really like playing Lantern because his options are just good in most situations, without being too good. I'm sure people that fight GL often don't like his B1 very much, but the damage you get off of it is relatively low so it evens out.

It feels like I always have solid options as Green Lantern, which makes him very satisfying to play because it means I just made the wrong read, didn't hit confirm or did something risky (Lantern's Might in the neutral for instance). He's in a perfect spot right now.

One for three off the roof
I'm somewhere between feeling this, and @Fred Marvel on Green Lantern. I feel that counter zoning in the MUs where he can't properly be the zoning party is a bit of a bill, but it's not like Flash kinds of bad. Overall a strong character, but when people expose his gaps it feels like he becomes more and more a character who needs a secondary to prop him up.

Always press buttons
I just wish that lift wasn't gutted. If Injustice 2 had a hitbox detector in practice mode maybe I could get a better feel for where the active frames are because they feel nonexistant when lantern can't catch jump ins 2inches from his hand.

I think this thread is the definition of downplaying.
How is he downplaying?

He's literally talking about how good GL is and how all of his positive stuff comes with a negative. He even talks about he doesn't lose to much except the top tiers. I pretty much agree with everything he said. If you want downplaying, go see what @Fred Marvel posted about GL in the "rate your character" thread.

Do you have access to a dictionary? Some of the stuff you post are a super wtf, with this being an example.

I mean you could always do delayed wakeup
If Tarkatan Alien were ever wrong about a delay wake up he would get full combo punished, no question. Did this mean he didn't mix? no

Injustice 1 kiddos are just spoiled imo. delay wake up is normal. If you make a read on a delay, they can no longer wake up with invincibility and they have to legit hold a 50/50 with no options other than guessing.

There's not really a mix. He just has b1

i think a balanced character is someone like cyborg, maybe firestorm, red hood is a good example too. red hood is great but nothing about him is broken, he has crazy setups hard to block mixups for days but his damage is kinda ass, he has great range on his strings but theyre high's, he has a low starter but its 13 frames and not not hit confirmable, all of his strings are negative except two that are +2. THAT is balanced to me. GL isnt that good.

the reason i say GL is not as great as you guys think is because he has way more weaknesses than strengths, he struggles in every aspect the top tier succeed in except zoning and he only doesnt struggle with that against non zoners.

im aware Gross is doing great with GL but he's playing out of his mind and he's being respected, why arent people doing delayed wakeup every time? or using their wakeup attacks? like seeing SUPERMAN get his by a f3 on wakeup is a joke because his rising grab gets him out of every posssible situation, yet i see theo getting hit by it. its gimmicks and people not knowing the matchup. yes i know he could MB it but it would whiff unless GL stayed clearly in front which is dumb easy to block.

last time you guys called me stupid for saying GL was low/mid tier and had 10 bad matchups in IGAU but we now know its true so i dont get why youre acting like i suddenly dont know my character. he's fair for sure but he's not competitively viable. once people learn his gimmicks he will disappear in tournaments except for Gross ive never seen him play anyone else lol props to him.

he loses to cyborg who isnt top tier, Ivy who is debateable, fate who apparently isnt either.

and what about the negative's he doesnt have a positive for?
only 1 wake up that can be stuffed
horrible back dash
his forward dash has a ton of recovery so his mb dash is hard to use against zoning
he only has one way to combo (lift) and its -28 on block
he is almost always unsafe, unless he spends meter which he needs to combo and do more than 25%

idk im just repeating myself i like your optimism kid but this character needs help

f2d1, or f2 staggered into b1 or throw? Is f3/j3 gonna cross-up or not? If f2 isn't real I guess the bad parts of the Cage community were right and staggering into your mix is a bill.
F2d1 isn't that big of deal. The cross ups only matter off of certain Enders and even at that, that's a read that gl has to make instead of going auto pilot
