Cyborg Match-up Discussion

Block low against Catwoman.. most of her strings are negative on block and most of her offense is started with a low and canceling into MBCatDash. She also can't get in full screen if you know what you're doing.. also you can grappling hook away lol. Borg has better frames up close trust me

I'll start: wtf does one do against Catwoman? lol

Catwoman has always been a tough matchup for Cyborg, even in the first game. Blocking low is good, but her f3 is pretty fast and she does have overhead strings that can catch you off guard, as well as having a hit of armour in her dash to absorb any projectile. I'm fortunate to have a sparring partner who primarily uses rush down characters, with Catwoman and Cheetah being in his arsenal, so I've played this match far more times than I can count.

You need to be weary of their meter, because if she has bar and you're rushing her down, you're going to get dashed and punished. Keeping in neutral, or just outside of her d3/j2 distance isn't as bad as it seems because when you see them bad boys, you want to b3 mb to absorb and punish (Cyborg range on b3 is incredible). Fullscreen is tough due to her evade and meter gain, and getting up close is difficult because of mix-up potential and damage output. Another good recommendation is when you have her in the situation when you're able to, always finish in trait and check with bf2 when possible, as if she does dash you, you'll break her armour and deny her that opportunity to get in. I personally think Catwoman is one of the tougher matchups for Cyborg, and after playing it through on I1 for long enough, it's still a chore. Just keep an eye on her meter gain, and space yourself within your b3 so you can punish her jump ins and forward advancing strings. Good luck though man!

Not probably too helpful, but Blue Beetle versus Cyborg is currently my favorite match up in the game. It's crazy to me how honest the match up feels overall. The zoning game is pretty balanced. I think Blue has better block pressure and offense. What is everyone thinking about Cheetah versus Cyborg?

Yeah, I really like how footsie based the BB vs. Cyborg matchup is, although I feel BB has a slight advantage in the zoning game. As far as cheetah goes, I faced @Circus and he mixed the hell out of me lol. I plan on adding him, since I'm using Vixen (my waifu ) as my secondary :)

I agree that BB has better pressure and offence, but Cyborg can outzone him completely I find. Although BB has a fast recovering projectile, he has no horizontal air projectile and his diagonal fireball has insane recovery, meaning that Cyborg is a little better in trade offs

I NEED to see this, because doing them has been a struggle for me. I can only do 5 at the minimum and that's on a good day lol.
So I only have this match saved to my captures sadly, and they're not "instant" (as Cheetah can get over them easily), but you can see how I mean. As I said earlier as well, this is why the BB matchup is a little more in Cyborg's favour, because you're able to keep him out of the air with these, and jump over his grounded projectiles (although up close the matchup is a little different)

Apologies for some of the play as well, this was against my brother who I play sets with and it was quite late, hence his and my "mediocrity"

Well im on xbox i use the razor wildcat and its like the ps4 dpad with four individual buttons, you should use the least amount of thumb on the dpad to be affluent. Think about it right before each iafb just know its okay if you mess up because youre still zoning :). But any tips from your combo with trait and ta getting the foward trait after the d2? my cyborg always just walks foward and trait doesnt come out!

Oh, I think you're referring to @Sketch , he has all the cool combo stuff with Cyborg. I just attempted to improvise. Is there a video example of this? Perhaps I can help, since I've uploaded so much footage I can't remember what I did lol

So far from playing this game here are some general things:

DEADSHOT:
-if you block the high gunshot your can MB roll the next high follow up, when at full screen.
-b1 into b1 stagger can be punished on a read if you neutral jump with j1
-low gun shot allows 2 forward dashes before the next follow up
-you must walk forward for continual high shots
-MB low gun shot allows only one free dash in
-If you do 12,b1 mb PF f22 and dash forward, followed by jump back, assassins knee will whiff for a full combo punish

C. COLD
-MB "the wall" has a gap. Upclose it can be punished with MBB3, or with a perfectly times d1 into PF
-The wall(invincible wakeup) can be full combo punished if you do a combo that leads into a crossup or allows you to leap to the other side as he's waking up. You end up right behind him while he's still doing the move
-12 into ice puddle is not a true block string (so eat the overhead in most cases)
-If C. Cold uses level 2, use grapple to get the hell out of there
-The wall (ice wall) can be punished with f2 into PF
-A well timed neutral jump can allow for Cyborg to hop over MB wall
-With good reactions, you can mb roll through the wall from 3/4ths screen or farther

DR. FATE
-His EX. fireball has a gap on the 2nd and 3rd fireball. You can backdash the 3rd fireball if timed correctly (and also grapple forward)
-You cannot dash forward after blocking (or ducking) a fireball. You must walk forward, or jump over.
-If you duck a fireball and Dr. fate immediately follows up, you can hop over the next one
-His wakeup (the force push) can be punished with any crossup setup or knockdown that allows you to hop over just as he's getting up

(This all needs to be further tested, but this is the data I got so far)
