I hope it is ok to post this in the "general discussion" thread. we lack a video-thread though...

Some recent matches of mine:

What is the general opinion on HQT vs Shiray Ryu Takeda? Feels like such an uphill battle. Hard to zone him due to his ridiculous range. Everything he does seems to trump my stuff in terms of hit/hurtbox, Predator sucks at stopping his pressure, plus his njp can be abused to hell; doesn't even seem to leave him at negative frames most of the time. Predator's d4, b2,2 and njp aren't really viable against him due to it either.

The only thing I know is he cracks under pressure. But so does Predator, and Takeda seems to outshine him in other regards. Tips, please.

Stay tuned to the top 8 stream tomorrow @ SCR . Destroyer will most likely be going at it with Hayatei for that cheddar! Predator vs Takeda ... Thats a match up!

Wow, that'd be great to watch! Will Hayate use Ronin as last time, or has it been weakened to such an extent that he mains SR now?

I'd also like tips on HQT Predator vs. the supposedl-garbage-but-tough-as-fuck-to-deal-with Kenshi. Versed Balanced and Kenjutsu the other day. I had literally no idea how to deal with the zoning of Balanced. I'm used to playing Sektor, and Sektor's knockdown is extremely invaluable against Kenshi. Predator's slow running speed seems to make it a real pain to get in on Kenshi. Especially in a bit of lag.

As for Kenjutsu, he seems to negate Predator's disc with his "projectile" (is it a high, can I duck it?) and does 40+ damage off of all mixups midscreen.

It's super hard to find footage of these specific matchups, and while in Kenjutsu's case it might be more about the variation than the matchup, for Balanced I do think Predator's useless running speed makes a huge difference.

Hayatei usually always uses Ronin, it's a really good variation overall. Check out Circa Destroyers Twitch @ www.twitch.tv/plague_father

Always playing every tournament player and different character specialists. He mainly plays Predator HQT and Goro.. Raiden and Tremor are his new characters in progress though. Tune in and follow! Theres always good content and knowledge shared.

Thanks, I'll definitely check out his Twitch! Been looking for post patch HQT videos of him on YouTube religiously the last couple of days, but all I could find was Tremor. I'll take every bit of high-level HQT I can find, and Destroyer more or less epitomizes that.

Option armor select his ass everytime when hes b2 low kunai pressuring you. You got the range with the slam. Preds recovers super quickly with his projectiles so i wouldnt worry to much about his teleport you will recover in time to block it if your being smart. Discs do a decent job of dealing with his jump in the air spin move that goes full screen.. And just keep him at full screen in general. Its an awkward mu cuz takeda is an awkward character. It takes some getting used to. And now that ex kunai is nerfed, its a little easier to escape him.

That's not how you play the Takeda SR matchup. It's impossible to keep a good Takeda full screen. They can get behind you in a split second with instant air teleport. You have to rush him down since his defense is bad. Get him to the corner and loop 50/50s with laser cancel pressure. Your right about the armor OS and smart discs to keep him out the air.

His defense isnt bad anymore though ex straight punches has two hits of armor now and launches for an additional bar. Where are you getting that thats bad? Lol The trade off for them was better defense while losing all of their jailing strings with low kunai (you can now OS or back dash everyone of his blockstrings canceled into low kunai.) Oh... ex kunai is only plus 2 on block now. And i know its really hard to keep a good takeda away, what i was saying was preds projectiles recover so quickley you can for the most part stay safe on his teleports. I didnt tell him to just zone him out, just saying some options.

OS armor is inputing a special move to punish gaps in block strings. So whenever you think takeda is going to cancel a block string into low kunai, mash scimitar slam you should be able to just blow through the kunai. This takes some practice to get used too though. I would recommend recording yourself in training with takeda do a few block strings ending with low kunai, switch back to preds and practice putting in scimitar slam right when he throws the kunai. If you do it right you will blow through the kunai. once you get comfy doing this you will be able to neutralize some of his offense. Be careful though if the takeda player is any good he will start baiting your armored move by not canceling into low kunai in spots during his pressure he normally would so he can block and punish scimitar slam. The idea here is to get him to think twice before constantly ending block strings with low kunai.

I suppose loss of pop-up on scimitar slam has made this matchup harder for Predator overall, no? At least for me, personally, such a large portion of the match is spent blocking his pressure.

Well he didnt lose his pop up on scimitar slam technically it just cost 2 bars to do it now (same as anyone else with launching armor, so thats fair) that and takedas offense is really good its no suprise to me that your saying your stuck in block alot. Like i said though, practice those option selects, they will help alot. Also, you have long reaching normals as well and their a bit faster than takedas your b2 and d4 are both extremely useful in this match up when fighting him for spacing. When he starts his pressure on you be patient i know it sucks holding block but he aint gunna kill ya with just chip dmg.

You said "keep him at fullscreen in general". That's not how you play the matchup. Your not going to keep someone like Raptor at full screen when instant air teleport puts him right behind you and your stuck blocking his pressure. Takeda's defense got a little better but it's not good. That armor can be baited and punished with a njp. Rush him down and bait his armored wakeup.

What part of 2 hits of armor and launches for 2 bars dont you understand? Its one of the better defensive moves in the game now currently. You say bait and punish but thats generic across the cast not just him just because you can block and punish a move doesnt make it bad. Back when kung lao was top tier when spin had armor it was considered the best wake up in the game but if you blocked it you could full combo punish it every time. In the previous patch you never had to respect takeda on wake up or bait anything from him cuz of how easily you can crush his armor (this simply put, is not the case anymore. And the fact that you are now forced to bait it on a read is a testament to how much better his defense got.) The point is its a legit threat now and must be respected period.

You simply cant smother him like you could before.

Any tips on how to set up a good situation to use f212? I suppose a lot of people overlook this move since it's slow on startup and kind of similar to the faster 121, but it has its uses, I figure. Just haven't explored enough to find any good ways to set it up.

What are his anti air options?
I try to catch people with d1 for anti crossover but its not consistant.

After a hkd in the corner into Disk.
For example:
Combo with f4 ender, into Disk, into f212
It f21 low Laser
