EVERYONE who payed money for a seat deserves a seat, nobody should have to steal chairs from anywhere. That's really sloppy on their part.

MKX in its 2nd year of Evo had more entrants in proportion to mk9 and injustice of their 2nd year, so you're wrong, it's actually stronger, not weaker.

This is what I was saying about taking a page out of the smash communities book, do it yourself.

It doesn't matter if sonic wins all the events (which he hasn't, not ALL of them). You can't say that he has that much influence on an entire community because he doesn't, one furry shouldn't be enough to waver any bodies passion for competition/love of MK.

We are making progress. Well, not me included. The guys going out to the tournaments, which I do not have the means or time to go to. But there is obviously no future for MKX at Evo with NRS having some obviously OP characters and a development team that has switched focus to another game. I mean, seats and stuff like that is just a failure by EVO, obviously. But it looks like they gave a fair weather community the treatment of a dying game, which MKX is without argument, a dying game.

And when I say fair weather community, I say that not including the hard working, tournament grinding players who are religiously there. You guys are awesome.

Why do people complain about not being able to talk in a twitch chat? First of all, it goes so fast when it's public, that you can't even start a conversation. Also, every single person in the chat is usually a fucking moron.

I have some great quotes from the EVO subs like "wow great combo from sonya thought", and "whoa sonicfox is black!?". As Aris would say, the chat is just a bunch of stoners.

I agree on everything AFG said. I feel like this years EVO was to big to ensure the quality everyone expects. For future events they will have to improve or cut the number of games and / or players.

On the other hand side,
- If we want the fgc to grow, I feel like we need events like evo (and the TOs need to rise to the challenge)
- LBSH, having MKX at evo is a prestige thing and it feels good to be part of an event like this
- We can't just decide that whatever event will be our new "most important" event; it's rather a development. I don't even know how many players out of the 707 are on tym.

I mean I know I walk around the site with an Alien tag, but did you see the character diversity in top 8? The proof is in the results, stoners.

Expressing grievances on the forum is only going to go so far.

Do what a responsible community representative would do:
-Contact the people who manage these things and have a sit down, talk to them directly.
-Work to make next year better than this year and fix these issues, but start today.

Guaranteed just saying "Why should we care about EVO" is going to make things worse, not better. A lot of these are fixable issues, but need to be fixed together, rather than making still more enemies when it's not necessary to address the problems.

Ex: If you have a problem with the commentary, start working immediately to put the people you want in the booth next year. And this doesn't mean "Make a TYM poll about commentary and then hope someone sees it". Talk directly to Chris Ceglia, TheHadou, Mr. Wiz and the Cannons about who you'd like to see in that position and why.

Don't be passive aggressive. Go direct if you want to get results.

Just want to point out that other than the commentary issue, every scene had all of those complaints as well.

No one had chairs, stream was hella disorganized (3 times I waited over an hour to play a match on stream to finally get told "nevermind just play it offatream" over 2 games, and it was even worse for top 32/16 competitors, where they tried to put all games on single stream setups for every game), multiple pools judges no showed in all games, tons and tons of DQs, etc.

That said, be happy you didn't get shafted as hard as smash 4... We had 2nd highest entrants, but still had all those issues, WAAAAAAY less setups than we needed by a very large margin, our top 64 was Friday late night and ran late, with pools having started that morning at 8 and top 32 running straight through from 8 AM sat to about 2 PM if I remember correctly?
If you were in the venue on Saturday before the end of Smash 4, you can attest to how crowded and uncomfortable the viewing experience was.

I'm not saying that to discredit the BS NRS dealt with (I saw you guys all crowded around the side stream station for top 16), but more that EVO in general seemed disorganized. This is my 1st EVO so IDK if it's always like this or not though.

Not really. Expectation were a majority of Alien and Mileena dominance as per usual after the last patch. If you do not think a games balance plays a role in decision making....I know better than that to let you try to belittle me.

It sounds like they put all of their efforts trying to ruin the 5k SFV tournament, and left everything else in the dust. Definitely not a good look and they'll need to change if they want other communities to keep coming back.

nope, thats entirely you saying that. What I'm saying is that its just as bad for them to have to steal seats from tournament set-ups, as it is for you to have to steal seats back from spectator set-ups. Tournament set-ups shouldn't have to be touched, neither should spectators. You all payed money to be there. The problem isn't who it is left standing - the problem is that there isn't enough seats. All I'm saying is, that the solution here is more chairs. And delivering on what people have payed you for. Don't know how anyone can disagree with that.

Evo is the biggest tournament there is. Thats just how it goes. Even the smash community figured that out, and they are older and far larger than us. Smash existed on its own for years, apex ect are still huge. but at the end of the day evo still is the biggest one there is. We will not escape it, we must embrace it. you propose that we make Ceo or something else our 'evo' yet none of those tournaments had any where near the entrants of evo, and our evo numbers fucking sucked as is. We are keeping up with marvel, a game that existed alongside MK9. 5 years ago.

I agree, no seating is shitty. that has to change, but i think thats part of the growing pains and transition to a larger venue. pools takiing all day also sucks, and us having the 8am slot super sucks, but someone has to go at 8am. Marvel is the only other game that coulda gone first, Xrd is hype and just put out new content.

Aris and UD are amazing commentators, though i agree that the twins also would have been stellar picks. 16bit and KP are also great candidates. but i dont feel like they arent 'us' and as such cant commentate. David pays attention to our scene and plays the game, as does Aris. The reason that aris and UD dont commentate more games is because they dont know them like they know MK, they pay attention to our game and we should be happy to have such great talent representing our game. Commentary is about getting the best of the best that also know what they are talking about, UD is hands down one of the best commentators, just in general, and having professional talent like him instead of some tool like DMS is a positive.

As a viewer from home I thought commentary was fine (I don't pay attention to any commentary really) UD & Aris are a more familiar face to the majority than K&M. It's like the TNT NBA crew vs ESPN NBA crew basically. The nrs community knows its story lines already and to be frank the only storylines that matter to people outside the community is:
1. how free would the competition be to sonicfox
2. Will the grand finals be a snoozefest because everyone was free to sonicfox
(^Neither happened so yay?)

As for scheduling at 8am well that was happening no matter what. MK lowest number of the sunday games so it had the earliest finals. MKX started Sunday finals off with a bang just like many airdashers have done in the previous years. Only thing that sucks is that players had to get up early after playing so late but evo is in another transition phase and was going to have problems. Not an excuse for it but everyone pretty much knew going into evo that things would be a cluster____ because of the number of entrants for games and it would a miracle if things go right.
Having MKX finals on Saturday may not even be the better option since even Smash 4, Pokken and Killer Instinct on went later than it was supposed to go because of issues. Players might have been dead tired either way. At least you had the advantage of more viewership on sunday i guess?

I agree with everything except the commentator complaint. David and Aris are apart of the MK community just as everyone else. And they both are great commentators and Aris is hilarious. Just because they aren't exclusive to MK shouldn't mean they "aren't one of us".

Like I said, I agree 100% with the rest. EVO is the world championship for Street Fighter, every other game is just filler and treated as such.

It's a personal low tournament for me, but not because of th nrournament.
