General/Other - Kenshi Boxy Theory: Kenshi Is Tyler Durden.

Just follow me here...

Much like the unraveling Edward Norton endured in Fight Club as Brad Pitt and the rise of Project Mayhem consumed more and more of his life, Kenshi seems to be on a course towards self-destruction that he has neither the sight nor the popularity to overcome.

Kenshi, IMO, might be the ONLY character in the roster for whom a case for any manner of buffs or help could be made. However, given that we're still in such an early stage of the game's life and almost no one but the most devout and stubborn of swordsmen can see the situation through his eyes, his pleas for help will likely fall on ears as deaf as he is blind.

He is the Recall Theory brought to life.
(I'm pretty sure I used this theory for Catwoman before too, but fuck it.)

Take A: Kenshi's obvious and glaring shortcomings in comparison to the rest of the cast - because even at barely the end of month 1 (and now being introduced to Jason and keeping in mind how powerful NRS DLC tend to be over time), it's becoming consistently clearer that he's among the weakest of the lot, in spite of variation diversity.

Take B: The fact that, if you're a tournament vet or aspiring fighter, there's little to no reason outside of pure loyalty to choose him over all others from a competitive perspective; not only can most characters keep pace and win high level matches more consistently, most of them can out-Kenshi Kenshi. Everything that, as a character build, Kenshi has been known to do, from telekinetic space control to armored zoning and ranged anti-zoning, there's an Ermac or a Quan Chi or a Sub-Zero or a Sonya Drone that can do it better.
SONYA'S DRONE IS MORE INTIMIDATING AND TOURNAMENT VIABLE THAN KENSHI. Think about that.

And take C: The number of viable characters, variations, variables such as stage interaction and meter management, and combinations/counterpicks of all of these elements. There are a lot. A fucking ton. As short as Kenshi comes up, as many launch issues as there have been and so on, this could very well go down as THE most aptly balanced MK product since UMK3. Unfortunately, even UMK3 had Shang Tsung. Every fighter title has to have its low end of the totem pole, but the more viable options there are on the table, the less concerned most people will be about that low end.

A + B + C = X.
And if X makes more sense than a buff, I highly doubt we'll ever see one.

In death, every member of Project Mayhem has a name.

His name was Takahashi Kenshi.

It was bound to happen to somebody. As strong as he was in MK9, I'm not surprised. I want to be wrong like you and every other pro-Kenshi player, but unless we're all reeeeeally overlooking something, I can't see him getting any better without some help.
