How The Input Bug Affected Skarlet, + Release check needs to go in MKX

Ok, so I've never been quite clear...

What exactly is the "input bug"? I'm not sure it hindered me as much as people like to make it out

B/C ... it seems to me that I have WAAAAY more trouble putting in correct inputs in injustice than I ever had/or have with MK9. Like... I can't even freaking do BF inputs in injustice but I was a BF fool in mk (hello, yolo sub zero slides). So, could someone explain to me what the deal is?

Please? :)
Well for skarlet you can tap down plus 3 and standing 3 comes out instead, even though clearly the inputs on the screen that are shown are in the right order and you did it right. You can also hit up and then df 1 for your instant air dagger, but the game ignores your down input even though it is clearly listed in your inputs and your timing was exactly the same as all your other air daggers, instead you get NJP. This is the context that I understand it in with Skarlet, it has a major impact on her ability to throw air daggers, not sure ho it affects Sub.

I swear, any time I get a notification about someone mentioning me, I somehow know it involves grammar.
You need to add the difference between "then" and "than" in your signature. That seems like the hot new word to fuck up everywhere I go on the internet.

Here's an example, the guy is trying to constantly do d1, but he gets some standing + 1 at times

But it looked like he was doing this and going back to a standing position after... maybe he was hitting it too fast and since the game was trying to go back to standing he got standing 1? What if he just held down the entire time?

So from these two explanations, sounds like something with the down input is fucked up. lol

Yet I have problems in injustice which apparently doesn't have input bug? But I input BF the same in both games... So confusing. lol

Go to the tutorial mode on MK9, on the movement part, tap down when the game tell you to press down, and tap up when then game tell you to press up, the game won't recognize the inputs even if they crouch

tl;dr Negative edge mostly sucks in NRS games because of 4-directional inputs. I'm all for giving players the option to have it or not.
this is correct! i hate this since vanilla mk9. this is the first thing i will check out in mkx. if this stay in mkx i will drop nrs games forever and play arcsys games haha

input bug is definitely a hassle, but nothing screws me over harder than the stupid negative edge. linking some crouching normals into specials in particular is almost impossible to do consistently. (cyraxs' d1+net comes to mind)
also, idk what category it would fall under, but i'll call it the "screw smoke players bug" where it is unbelievably hard to wakeup smoke towards when you get knocked down in the corner (you ALWAYS wake up with a smoke away INTO the stupid ass corner)...... yeah, fuck that bug >

As I remember the imput bug was applied only to down direction moves on the ground. I don't think it applies to aerial moves since they have dealy frames and are character specific. For example you can easily instant divekick with Kung Lao and instant air-teleport with Sektor, but it is needed for more time in the air to do instant air daggers with Skarlet and instant air teleport with Scorpion.
Also the neutral jump takes 3 frames to start-up, this was proven by Somberness long time ago. He presumed it was done this way because of the presence of moves that require up direction (like Jade's up+3). Somberness said also that jumping is affected by these 3 frames of start-up, so the character doesn't jump everytime you press up, and if you press up every 2 frames he might not jump at all.
You can try iaD with back/forward jump because they are 1 frame of start-up maybe it'll work better on stick. I know on pad it's impossible.

The stick doesn't help it, only makes it harder because you will quickly realize how slow the animation is responding to your inputs, instead of being precise you will also have to start timing when to execute the dagger input when after you hold up which in consequence, makes the iaD precision very inconsistent, because of it, you won't hit grounder characters when you need to because Skarlet iaD to connect it needs to be executed flawlessly on very 1st frame the character gets airbone, or on the second frame which will catch them in the top of their head. Even if you jump backwards of towards, the character should've be able to jump at the tap of the button not by holding up for 3 frames to jump, its stupid, its silly, its a bug, specially when the game recognizes that you pressed up but the game system won't respond accordingly, is a Input Bug.

On the D-pad is much easier because the way the D inputs are layered you can easely access the other directions after holding up for very about 2 game-ticks. This is why most of us Skarlet players could most of the time get the first iaD but couldn't fire a barrage of it, when i bought my stick it was not only to improve my Street Fighter Execution and board forwards in the horizon of dificulty and extreme level of execution where monsters like Sakonoko and Desk stands, but to be able to experience the same level of deph in Tekken and of course improve Skarlet execution to a level that it wasn't possible to achiveve in the D-pad.

Unfortunately, Daggers are a major part of her playstyle and play without it is like handicaping yourself, specially those iaD (low daggers) which are the ones she needs the most to OTG any character in the game and block their mind for thinking a better solution to escape inumerous offenses and setups that comes from that single OTG.

As far as i know, Input Bug affected both Down and Up not only down has some ppl are sure of it, and not only up as Dizzy said once, it affects both, many times i got grounded daggers when i tried to perform iaDs because the precision jump was too good that by tapping the character wouldn't even jump.

Neutral jump is 3 frames of start-up, directional jumps are 1 frame (which is basically instant). It's not a bug, it's how it is.
The times you got grounded daggers when trying to iad you must've entered the input within the start-up frames of the jump, so the jump didn't even start.

dude, have you seen the video? If you tap up even if the game recognizes you jumped, the character won't jump even after 3 frames, it doesn't matter.
