KombatNetwork deserves an apology

I'm talking in general. This is for anyone boycotting KombatNetwork.
Maybe because the previous MLG experiences were great? I don't get this, were people somehow supposed to foresee that this tournament would suck and not praise MLG? Everyone treated MLG as the gold standard for tournaments because MLG had given them a reason to. East Cost guys in particular shouldn't show this double standards, since when the REO vs. PL debate was running rampant, all we heard was how MLG should count just as much as EVO considering how great it was, how it was "the best tournament experience" (I'm not blowing you guys up for saying that, but let's not have selective argumentation), etc... So to act like we should have known all along that MLG would screw this up is a tad disingenuous.

That's exactly what I mentioned in another thread way before the shit hit the fan. The title of this thread should read "MLG deserves to be blown up."

@Insuperable (good to see you've been unbanned, by the way), this is not about playing favorites. I know most of us like and respect Shock, and rightfully so. But, if you've been repeatedly sold a substandard product by someone, you go somewhere else, and you're also sold a substandard product, would you go back to the original person and apologize?

I understand that Shock is frustrated and he has the right to ask for MLG to be blown up considering all he had to listen to since NEC. But, instead of trying to rub things in and unjustifiably ask for apologies, how about we learn the real lesson here, and that is to get our act together? And by that I mean the community as a whole and the TO's.
Honestly, I would, if I continuously publicly trashed everything they work hard for. It would be much like going to a restaurant, having a bad experience, trashing it on reviews, to your friends and families, and everyone else, telling them not to go there. Then, you go to another restaurant, have a bad experience, then just saying that it was a bad experience.

I was not one of those people saying MLG should count more. I just think REO is better :p
I actually don't like MLG

I've never been to a KN ran tournament, so I can't comment, but I doubt some of the other people in here have either.
This is just my opinion, I've never actually been to one or heard anything negative. I've watched a couple streams when IGAU first came out and I wasn't very thrilled.

Agreed about REO.

I think it was your boy Claude who was praising MLG and don't get me wrong, by all accounts, he had every right to (which is why I think the stance everyone is currently adopting is weird).

I agree that the KN bashing was a bit excessive. But, I think part of it was how ultra defensive they were about everything. Regardless, MLG should be blown up in light of what happened, but not sure how that should be tied to KN.

Yeah I don't get what KN has to do with MLG, besides just being sensitive as fuck about the issue. Dots aren't connecting for me.

Well not every tournament brags about being elite and "highest standard professional". Maybe say that for FPS's, something they successfully ran for years.

Just repeating their statements. I've ranted my mind into mush all night. I really just feel bad for Byte and everyone that probably saved up for weeks for this. Just wanna watch top 32 and I'm ready for CEO next weekend. Don't even care if there's just 30 people, at least it's familiar territory not ran by douches.

I think it just shows that every tournament is capable of going wrong so perhaps we shouldn't go overboard on the bashing.
This.

There is no need to bash MLG. Every tournament has bad days. I doubt many top players will boycott MLG, and that's a good thing. However, the bashing of East Coast tournaments, just because they're run by Kombat Network, is dumb because other tournaments do the same thing, but are forgotten quickly.

At this point I'm lost myself. Between the technical issues, the drama with 16 bit and Chris G/Floe, and apparently somethings wrong with KN/KH. I don't know.

Everyone is bitching about stuff that won't get fixed.

But I didn't want to dash
I've never had an issue with a kombat network tournament. I've been kind of out of the loop as far as tournaments are concerned but everything I've attended was good IMO.

I don't even know what happened at mlg but I will say this. Mlg is about the money and kombat network is about the community. When mlg doesn't support our games anymore kombat network will. Also shock is one of the coolest people I've met.

GO VOLS!!!
OK...OK...TIME OUT. ARE YOU GUYS SAYING THAT ALL FIGHTING GAMES AT MLG HAVE BEEN CANCELED THIS WEEKEND???

NO!!! I HOPE NO ONE IS SAYING THAT!!!

for the 100th time, KN works hard they try, we know. That is not the issue, the problem was issues like the internet keep coming back at every tournament. People would be glad to attend KN tournaments if they work on these problems a lot of people have come with constructive criticism and have even suggested KN should do donations for the streams. It just seems like they can't take any criticism at all. You expect people to keep quite when something goes wrong?

This thread makes NO sense, past MLG's were great this one sucks so far, but the same goes for KN they've had some bad ones as well . That being said everyone can take the criticism and WORK on it instead of jumping on the bandwagon of whats the newest thing we all hate and boycott.
Based god Zyos with the knowledge as usual.

We have one day of a tournament go poorly and suddenly the entire tournament and everything it stands for are terrible and failure and aids and everyone hates them? Why is everyone on this site such a bandwagoning fool and feel like it's appropriate to go out and talk a lot of shit about MLG? I am not absolving them of all the problems that have happened thus far but holy shit. What do you have to gain by shitting all over MLG everywhere you go? Does this really affect your life so much that you have to dedicate all of your time to shitting all over them with the most acidic of bile you can possibly contrive? A lot of people are being extremely sophomoric (childish) about this and are simply kicking and screaming to grow their e-peen when we damn well know 90% of you would never show up to or support any tournament anyways. Why can't we say "hey, this sucks, here's how to improve next time and you'd better fucking do it or we won't support you" instead of "fuck you MLG you are literally worse than Hitler for forgetting to patch all of the consoles and I will never support you again (even though i never did) becuase fuck you."

I hate everyone

I played mk9 at MLG colombus and it was hands down the best tournament I've ever been to. So I don't know how one slip up warrants incessant bashing

The average age of posters on this site is much lower than you might expect. Seeing that alerts tab blink red is the greatest feeling of validation and acceptance they've ever felt. They're here to get people to respond to them and get post likes, not because they actually give a shit about the well-being of the tournament or the players that are there. 1 like = 1 respect

There's only one thing that needs to be apologized for, which is saying "these kinds of things never happen at other tournaments/in other areas" since clearly they do.

But there are still issues that need to be fixed in both places and that hasn't changed.

I get we aren't top priority for the venue. I was pretty disappointed with the number of entrants. But we have a bunch of absolute killers in this top 32 and I guarantee we will be getting more rowdy and hype than the COD crew can even think of being.

And dear God. I hope everything runs like a Swiss watch today. Play all the pizza ads on the stream that has way more viewers than us. Let them suffer today. We deserve one solid block of kick ass matches.
