When the realms were formed, the Elder Gods agreed that they would not interfere in the affairs of the realms and of mortals. For aeons, the realms existed with the Elder Gods seemingly indifferent to their existence. Eventually, however, one Elder God began to take increasing interest in the realms: in particular, he found himself desirous of ruling Earthrealm. This was the Elder God Shinnok.

Shinnok desired not the abstract overlordship of the Elder Gods, but the direct rule of Earthrealm, perhaps akin to the reign of Shao Kahn over Outworld. It is unknown what Shinnok’s ultimate goal was: it seems unlikely such a figure would have contented himself with the rule of one realm, and it could be that Shinnok’s long-term plan was to establish himself as the sole Elder God, ruling over all existence.

Shinnok thus began to scheme. He was aware of the prophecy of the Armageddon and the steps Argus and Delia had undertaken in their scheme. Becoming aware of the enslavement of Blaze by... Continue......

Dragons are a mysterious and powerful species, possessed of many extraordinary powers. There appears to be at least two species of dragons, as we have evidence of the most powerful of the kind being referred to as ‘great’ dragons. Though it is unknown if they exist in all realms or what commonalities species, or individuals, may share, the Gold and Red Dragons, Orin and Caro, had great power, including the ability to open portals, breathe fire and seemed functionally immortal. The seal of the Elder Gods themselves, used as the sigil of the Mortal Kombat tournament, is itself a dragon, and dragons appear in the mythology and lore of many races throughout the realms.

The most impactful ‘dragon’ in the history of the realms was no myth, however. He was the legendary Onaga, the Dragon King of Outworld who ruled long after the creation of the realms (though many thousands of years before our current time). It is unknown if Onaga himself was truly a dragon or if that was merely an... Continue......

As the community eagerly looks towards MK11 like the insatiable fanboys we all are, a lot of people are looking back on MKX, myself included. Having played a hundred or so Ranked games over the holidays, it was hard to come to the conclusion that the game will live on as a true classic of MK.

It feels so lacking. The gameplay just doesn't compare to the heavy footsies based style of MK9 but more importantly the game doesn't pop, it doesn't feel alive and vibrant the way MK2, UMK3 or MK9 do. And the roster sucks. Even having a main who suits you and a character you like, shout out Cybernetic Kano's zoning and corner combos, it just isn't fun to play nor fun to immerse yourself in.

And, happily enough, this revisiting of the latest iteration in the MK franchise is the theme of the most recent Netherkast podcasts, just in time to help you on the return to the drudgery of life after the holidays!... Continue......

Another day, another amazing piece of content brought to you by the two and only, Ketchup and Mustard!

This time, everyone's tied-favourite-Englishmen, with Ketchup representing the inferior condiment but the superior cyborg (and one of the two to be personally excused of responsibility for the whole British-Empire-in-Ireland thing by me) return to MKX, discussing the place of variationless characters in the game. Just a little something I threw together on a slow Friday night, thought I'd throw it up for y'all

EARTHREALM
Earthrealm has become a centre for inter-realm warfare in recent years but has historically been divorced from the affairs of other realms. In fact, Earthrealm seems unique among realms in that for the vast majority of the history of the current inhabitants of Earthrealm, the majority of those inhabitants have had no knowledge of other realms. Exceptions to this include the Shaolin Order of Light, the White Lotus Society, the Lin Kuei and the Shirai Ryu and the Black and Red Dragons, all of whom frequently interact with beings from other realms. It is a realm of much beauty, with natural forests and oceans and grasslands among a variety of terrain on a largely temperate, extremely habitable realm. This, as well as the great power said to be found in Jinsei of Earthrealm, has led to it being the object of many conqueror’s desires, most famously Shinnok and... Continue......

In the final article in this series, I’m going to discuss those characters that burn brightest when we think of who could return for MK11. Not characters who we know will be there and are always there, like Scorpion or Raiden or Sub Zero, not characters we need this game to rework, not even necessarily characters who can advance the story or massively alter the direction of the game, but characters who are just beloved and whose absence was felt in MKX

Honourable mentions: Stryker (who just doesn’t have the groundswell of support), Cyrax (who can sit out a game for Sektor for once in his goddamn life), Kabal (who can sit out indefinitely until NRS prove he can be in a game without being S tier) and Rain (who just didn’t make it onto the list. I’m sure his notoriously calm fanbase won’t throw a tantrum at this.)

8: SINDEL
BACKGROUND
Sindel was the queen of Edenia before the conquest of that realm by Shao Kahn and wife of King Jerrod. Following the conquest of Edenia and it being... Continue......

Hear ye, hear ye.

Test Your Might is delighted to make an announcement we’ve been sitting on for quite sometime! We’ve kept our cards close to our magnificently sculpted pecs for a few weeks now to let some things resolve but we can now announce that Test Your Might will be represented at the Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal!

Not only that, but Test Your Might will be the ONLY fan-run site covering both the Los Angeles and London Reveal! Yes, you read that right, TYM will be boots-on-the-ground on two sides of the planet simultaneously, all in the name of you, dear reader (and Mortal Kombat. Mainly Mortal Kombat).

My inimitable colleague, the one and only @HellblazerHawkman (L) will be covering the Los Angeles event while I, the lowly Charybdis (R), will be covering the London event! If you see either of us there, don’t be afraid to say hi! We don’t bite and you might get... Continue......

In previous articles in this series, I’ve discussed the most likely 3d era characters to return and what to expect from them (https://testyourmight.com/threads/op-ed-likely-returning-3d-characters.67549/) and the least likely to 3d era characters to return and what could be done to redeem them (https://testyourmight.com/threads/op-ed-how-to-redeem-the-forgotten-characters-of-the-3d-era.67567/).

Here, I’ll be discussing those 3d era characters crucial to the story aspect of the game. Characters who, unlike say Hotaru or Havik or Nitara, can’t just slot into the story on grounds that they’re doing their own thing and it happens to intersect with the main plot. No, if these guys are in, they’re either the main focus of the story or they’re non-canon DLC. Continue......

Another day, another purported leak for the eagerly anticipated upcoming Mortal Kombat 11. We've had a bellyful of these as of late, so much so that TYM's own beloved @ImperatrixSindel went above and beyond the call of duty in debunking/proofreading them (you can find this masterpiece here: https://testyourmight.com/threads/mk11-leaks-a-case-by-case-analysis.67553/page-2#post-2408440)(and Sindel was ahead of even the TYM News Staff on this one: https://testyourmight.com/threads/n...tails-cover-art-community-reveal-plans.67573/)

But enough about Sindel doing my job for me (<3), let's get onto the fresh, new leak!

I've just noticed he's almost dabbing. Don't even think about it Ed.

According to the new leak....

With the announced return of the Mortal Kombat series, the fanbase is clamouring to see which characters will return for the latest iteration of our favourite franchise. Something many people are looking forward to in MK11 is the return of some of the 3d era characters given the possibilities and implications of the ‘Krisis on Infinite Earthrealms’, a sobriquet I am determined to make stick.

As I noted here (https://testyourmight.com/threads/op-ed-likely-returning-3d-characters.67549/) some of the more popular characters of the 3d era are almost expected to appear in MK11, such as Li Mei and Havik. This shouldn’t come as a surprise: go look at any Let’s Play of the 3d era and, amidst the undeserved mockery, those characters will generally be grudgingly acknowledged as pretty good.

But what about the mockery and the mocked? Here, I’ll be defending the merits of the 3d era games in general elsewhere but here I want to focus on the mocked characters. In my view, a... Continue......

With the announced return of the Mortal Kombat series, the fanbase is clamouring to see which characters will return for the latest iteration of our favourite franchise. Given the ‘fracturing timelines’ theme rumoured for MK11, people are rightly expecting many of their favourite characters to return.

Among those characters are the likes of Jade, Nightwolf and Noob Saibot, but we aren’t talking about them here! Here, we’re gonna be talking about 7 of the most likely 3D era characters to return, either as main roster or as DLC. This is the first of a series of four articles over the coming weeks, which will also cover the most fan-requested returning characters, the possible major story implications for certain returning characters (Taven, Daegon, Shujinko and Onaga etc) and, as a bit of fun, the worst of the worst characters (all of whom do come from the 3D era). For nine generations, which, from our knowledge, is the longest reigning streak of victories in the history of the tournament, one single champion reigned. One being remained unbeaten in Mortal Kombat for 450 years. All who opposed him, beginning with the legendary Great Kung Lao (who himself defeated Shang Tsung), met with a swift and certain death. Second only to Shao Kahn himself, none were more feared than this legendary warrior. Continue......

As previously reported by my esteemed colleague @HellblazerHawkman here (https://testyourmight.com/threads/i...ntal-championship-officially-announced.67371/), an exciting new online competition is currently being held across the globe, with the prize being a spot for the Injustice Pro Series finale!

The Aussies had their turn a couple of weeks ago, but over the weekend both the Middle East and Eastern Europe championships were staged, featuring some of the most prominent players from those scenes. In particular, the Middle East tournament saw TekkenMaster and SharkTeeth (as well as the unaffiliated TekkenLegend), both of whom have made significant waves in the U.S Tournament scene, while the Eastern European event featured names like Nivek, K-Top and Dubasik among others!

No spoilers to be found here ladies and gents (who am I kidding, 95% gents), check out the Eastern European...
