No, Kabal is better than all the ninjas in mk9.
Then it's because that Samurai is a casual player and not a competitive one.
Okay, was just letting you know.
Man, I love tekken, but that was hard to watch. Even Aris said it was hard to watch, and he loves that game more than anyone. Unfortunate that it lead to the games death.
I'm a samurai? Thanks man.
Is this true? Damn. Gotta blow up NRS's twitter after EVO2012. I feel that an all-Kabal top 4 will kill the game more than the input bug.
Jeez, let him main who he wants! Who cares if its Kabal? CD jr could play as Kano and still win. It all comes down to the skill of the player, not the character they play as.
That's the only reason why I don't want you to use Kabal.
I mean, there are already a few high level players using him that I didn't expect.
If you are gonna use Kabal then about 60% of the people will use Kabal.
Was the same with Kung Lao around Evo, it's sad to say that alot of people look at high level players to decide which character to play.
It's not that Kabal is easy to use, a lot of people will try and fail for a long time before they have some good level of skill in their Kabal. Will take a much longer time before someone is on the same level as Reo with Kabal.
Next thing you know tournaments are gonna be filled with Kabals and Kenshis, they'll replace Sub-Zero and Scorpion as poster characters...
NRS will demand you provide proof or evidence that only Kabal wins at the highest level. Then what will all of you guys do? You have to wait until the Kabal plague comes full force and infects major tournaments. I am the leader of this extermination squad and it should be come full force at EVO (the earliest).
Right now all of you are writing off paranoia. This is not enough.
Lol all the ridiculous shit talking over a burnt guy with pigtails. People trying to sound intense and hype over kabal makes me giggle

Until this happens and as long as its only our paranoia, you should make a Kabal vs Kabal match-up chart depending on stage length and p1 advantage just in case.
I listened to his avoidingthepuddle podcast right after evo, and he said it. As much as he loves tekken, he actually said it was hard to watch (even said the game was pretty balanced, and it was very epic high level play, but it just so happened there were that many bobs). He also was going to commentate tekken as well, but passed on it for mk (I forgot the reason why, but I'm not going to guess and put words in his mouth). If I have the link I'll post it here.
Edit: here it is (go to the 22 min)
Kabal for DLC MK10
Every day a top player makes a thread bitching about this community... Tom Brady must be infectious.
You completely missed everything I said. So I'll repeat. NRS obviously took a look at balance before release. Things were tweaked. Then the game was released. They took another look -- patched again. Another look, another patch.
But again: 1) A lot of current tactics became relevant months after the game's release, whether due to nerfs/buffs to characters, frame adjustments, or just to people discovering new tech and new counters to certain tactics. and 2) Each patch to one character, also has effects on other chracters.
I think it's foolish to believe that you can completely balance a game of this scale and all DLC before players even have the game in their hands. It's an ongoing comittment and there's no way around that.
And again... You're talking about an issue with .1% of the buying audience.. Think about what you're saying and how it relates to NRS' bottom line.
This is the kind of scenario that makes me worry.
Personally, I have no problem with more top players picking up Kabal.
He may not bring me any joy, he may be a royally frustrating pain in the ass on all fronts for a great deal of us, but he's inarguably the strongest asset a competitive player can have at his or her disposal, so it makes no sense to take issue with a CD Jr or the like for doing what they feel will give them the best chance at success. As I said, you've gotta do what you've gotta do, and most of us who takes competition seriously, regardless of personal bias, can understand that.
The problem, in my opinion, is that the drastic difference between the high and low quality characters, especially when it comes to this Kabal over-saturation, is gonna turn off and dishearten a LOT of players of the already-small MK9 populus.
And the "Learn to beat him or pick him up" argument...I agree with it, but it's only going to go so far when people who have made decisive, heart-felt choices about who they want to stick with and use as their means to compete and contend, regardless of tier, start losing their faith or looking towards other pastures because this game only has one true ultimo hombre, and everyone and their mother is now putting him in rotation.
We have some AMAZING players out there, of all shapes, tiers and character sizes, but the growing likelihood of a serious overabundance of Kabal really concerns me.
People should just play whoever the fuck they want to. If he wants to play Kabal for a better chance of money, then do it. It's nice to see variety and interesting match ups, but the MK9 money pots used to be just kind of alright, but with MLG and bonuses now for EVO it's actual serious money. It's no longer just an oh I won, that's neat here's my little trophy and 500 bucks, but now it's like here's 10,000 for 1st place. To most people, myself included 10k is a lot more than pocket change.
My main point is, play who you want to when big money is not at stake, if this is what you are doing for part of your income, play who you are comfortable with and who gives you the best chance at winning.
I said I do root for CDjr. I am just tired of people winning more so because of the fighter they use than their actual skill. No greed involved, and that was a poor use of the word. You must be very delusional to believe that this community is filled with greed and haters.
I know I am going to get BLOWN the fuck up for even slightly bringing this up, but have you guys ever played Pokémon? They have tiers for fighters as well, but what they understand is that Mewtwo vs. Pikachu isn’t much of a fight. So, they split it up. S+ can only fight S+, A can only fight A, etc. etc. I am not saying this is what we should do without a doubt. But it would DEFINETLY give more variety to the game, and give people a chance to actually use their favorite fighter instead of be bound to a S tier fighter that they don't like so they can keep up with other top players. This game might as well just have 10-15 fighters in it because they are the only ones that get recognized. Though we still talk about Kabal beaten Kano 9-1, like someone is ever actually going to get somewhere in a tournament with Kano when there are fighters like Kabal, Kenshi, Sonya, Freddy and Jax.
Seriously, before people start blowing me up with "Oh, this dumbass thinks that top 5 shouldn’t be able to fight fighters in the 20's." Well, don't blow me up, if you have a solid reason that this wouldn’t work please let me know, because I obviously haven’t thought of it yet.
Pokémon is MUCH more balanced than this game for just this reason alone. And has a much bigger community, who doesn’t complain about their system that seems to work very well, yet our community has arguments like this all the time. I know that this is a huge deal, and coming from someone who doesn’t even go to tournaments, ( but I am not, not competitive, I don’t know why a casual gamer would ever talk about MK on TYM especially when they aren’t competitive themselves ) but why not? It would be much more fun for viewers and players, and still be just as competitive.
This is just a suggestion and opinion that I feel might make the game more balanced and better in general. I honestly don't see why we aren't doing this yet. If you guys have a objection to this and why it wouldnt work, I'd like to know.
I already know this...but it's abundantly clear they didn't look as deeply and as critcally a look as they should have to avoid the immense game imbalance, I'm in favor of this game growing and improving in a positive way, I don't have anything further to add.
Pause. Give me a list of Kabal players that are winning majors right now. And then give me a list of players from the 1st list that wouldn't have a shot at winning a major with a character other than Kabal.
Did I say they were winning just because of Kabal? I don't believe Kabal was even mentioned in the quote.
There is no doubt that REO and other Kabals are VERY good, but skill is not as much of a variable in this game as I want it to be. I feel like the fighter they choose has a ton of influence over the fights and outcomes, just as the skill does.
Ok, replace Kabal with "because of character" and give me the same lists.
Meh, I'm going over to play VF5FS.
In all seriousness, the only thing stopping Kabal from dominating right now is because he still requires you to actually learn him to compete at higher levels.
You think the top players in this game would still win or place top 8 on a regular bases with fighter below top 10?
