GLV TGS Zappa conquers Top of the Food Chain #9!
Virginia gathered on it's 9th installment of the popular Top of the Food chain regional tournament. Not many were able to attend this time around but we still made something magical out of the 9 man bracket that laid before us. 2 returning champions were still in the field, 2 virginia lanterns, and some dark horses.
Let's get right into the action. Right off the bat we saw a glimpse of what the outcome of the tournament just might be. Enter Richmond player Jkun vs Zappa round 1. 2 Heavy top 5 averagers going at it right away. Zappa looking as strong as ever showed every VA lantern watching at home or looking from the other side of the bracket what a 3-7 could look like! 3-0 advance for Zappa. On the other side of the bracket newly added to VA players list Kwest ran into his sensei Mr Aquaman, a crushing 3-0 win by the God of war over rival Womder Woman. Blackula makes swift movement on the other WW on this side of the bracket as well 3-0'ing his way on to face someone he has never lost to at this tournament. Ice Angel never before even taking a game off of srryimwhte, does so in her best performance at TOTFC but bowing out 1-3 to the down but not out assassin.
Winners semi's, deathstroke enthusiast and sometimes decent player Srryimwhte vs zappa, right away there was something different about these 2 playing. Zappa has never defeated srryimwhte and on paper this looked like a second trip to winners finals for srryimwhte. Well like the raven haunting Bran's dreams, this raven slowly pecked away at the warry hitman. Swooping down and throwing purple shit left and right until gun and sword laid on the ground. With the purple feathered she bitch flying off into the distance, winners finals secured. On the other side of the bracket we saw no surprises as these 2 have played eachother in most of the TOTFC's. Never beating blackula here Mr Aquaman was the underdog. What then unfolded was the lamest ares play ever seen. Shades of M2Dave Mr Aquaman quickly teleported 300 times and threw every projectile in the game to take a 3-1 win over nemesis Blackula.
In losers we saw Kwest and Jkun work there way to srryimwhte and blackula. NEVER BEFORE SEEN a Green Lantern mirror unfolded before our eyes. With revenge in his heart blackula did not forget about his crushing 0-3 loss to Jkun in the mirror not 2 tournaments back. With john stewart in hand and @Orochi not in attendance Blackula crushes Jkuns dreams of advancing and proclaims the Lantern Chair that is Virginia. A rival from the beginning was next. Srryimwhte vs Blackula, the very first Grand Final in TOTFC. Srryimwhte taking the first one Blackula has not held back since, defeating srryimwhte every time here since. Today would be no different as the cerebral assasin found himself on the wrong end of lanterns might. A close 3-1 battle to advance to losers finals.

Zappa turns on his demon stance, sick of torment that this God of War has ravaged on this land for so long. Sick of never being able to overcome this bottom tier hero. Tired of being close with no cigar. Sick of the ridicules, the godsmacks, the time was right, the moons were in there place. Zappa takes his ham out of the oven for the world to see with a 3-0 dismantling of Mr Aquaman.
True to his name Ares was enraged, though from looks calm and collected, inside a fire that the gods themselves could not extinguish. In his path, everything that was against him. A lantern, a rival, a chance to overcome the one tournament that is not on his resume. On the field with sword and shield Mr Aquaman channels his inner actual good player and sets the gimmicks aside once again to lame out blackula 3-0 to get into his first Grand Final here.
Grand finals - set on stage with what started out as a low clap from the entire venue. The claps got louder, faster, louder, faster. As if to the beat of war. Soldiers marching, the calm before the storm. It was a sound that was known to the god of war. A sound that fueled him, he was no stranger here. His armor damaged, sword bent, shield spintered. But a true warrior never gives up. As the great Alfred once said "What do we do when we fall down, we must learn to pick ourselves back up." Mr Aquaman picked up his weapon, standing strong. Grand Finals begins. What then happened was one of the greatest performances of Ares that was ever seen. Mr Aquaman with no mercy, no thought, pure killer instict, won the second battle 3-0. The war was extended. Zappa looked stunned. The commentators were speechless. A warpath unfolded. Battle 3 began. Mr Aquaman was riding his streak takes game 1. It looked like a steamrole was about to unfold. Game 2 began and Mr Aquaman still looked in dominant form. But with confidence on his side Zappa kept his compaosure. Mr Aquaman gave one inch in game 2, zappa took full advantage and snuck game 2 out. All of a sudden there was belief. There was hope. Zappa continued the steak and took game 3 after the reset comfortably. All of a sudden the god of war was on the ropes. Not giving up immediate rematch. Vengence still burning, the thrill of the fight still in hand, The 4th game of this reset grand final came down to a time out. With about a 5% health lead both players not risking anything, playing as solid as possible, Mr Aquaman sneaked in a final hit with 10 seconds remaining to keep his tournament hopes alive. This was it, 1 game, winners take all. Here is what happened.
Ares, armor broken, hand hitting the dirt, fallen to a knee, had been defeated.........
Above the field that lay destroyed, floated one, as if what to be what inspired purple haze. The legend of horror, the demon from hell, Raven.
Congrats to @K1NGZAPPA for his first tournament win ever, so deserved.
