    I just drove back from GameStop with my long-ago-preordered Klassic Fightstick.

    Anyone else get it? How the hell do you open this thing? I've got replacement parts en route and not sure how to get 'em in there.

    The three tabs in front and back of the stick come off to reveal cam locks... Dark Rob and I are trying to figure out how to get them out now. Once I know, I'll post on how to do it.

    God bless you. If you want to throw a couple pics up so I'm not going in blind, I would love that, too. I'm terrified of ruining this thing.
  4. Yeah, the classic sticks aren't meant to be modded honestly. They purposely left out the ability to open the case.

    You can mod them, it is just going to be a pain in the ass to do so, guy i know already broke a few screws trying to open it

    I love Candace and PDP, but I really REALLY wish NRS would of had AIAB do both series of sticks :/
  7. I never meant that it couldn't be modded. But i believe PDp made the stick the way they did just to keep those who aren't super motivated to mod it...because its obviously a hassle just to get into the stick.

    Pro tip for PDP: If your going to use some kind of crazy screw/cam locks/dead bolt/wax seal/whatever, you might want to include the tool that opens it in the box next time.

    Pro tip #2. If you really don't want people to open it up you could save yourself(and us) a great deal of hassle by just using I.L. parts to begin with. I don't know how many times I need to say this, SUZO HAPP IS GARBAGE. Your trying to replicate the authentic MK arcade panels from the 1990's right? Guess what, those were I.L. parts. Happ never made a joystick of they're own until 2005.

    I.L. = pro
    Happ = failz/lolz

    Don't know how much clearer I can make it.

    My IL parts arrived. Has anyone here open the Klassic yet? Can I get it open with a standard screwdriver?

    I/L = I love it! Yeah cam locks could we get a picture of the actual locks I might be able to figure out something on my end here. I have a zone mechanic at my school that knows a little bit about cam locks.

    So why is this causing so much of a hassle? This looks just like the locking bolts they use on a lot of desks and other furniture. All you have to do is align them with the screw and it should open up.

    The problem is that with the cam lock still in place, it's like the screw is still in there. The cam must be removed and it's pretty difficult to get out. I have a guy at work who is going to work with me tomorrow to help me remove them. I will provide any info when we do it.

    imo from what I can tell so far the best bet is a big flat head screw driver to open that up I am taking this picture today to the guy I know he might beable to figure something out that might work better.

    Also I don't understand why pdp would do this to the classic arcade stick. if anything they should have kept the mod version of the original stick. After the stick is sold to someone who cares what they do with it tbh. Dumb move on their part its a way to turn people off on an already limited controller aside from mk this stick really isn't practical for any other fighting game.

    after removing the cam lock, what size screw can i use to replace the cam lock?

    I'm actually pretty close to finishing this thing. To open it, just use a screwdriver to twist every cam lock to the unlock position, then pull bottom straight off.

    I replaced the buttons without any problem, but I'm not sure I'm replacing the joystick correctly. Could some kind soul tell me where this piece goes:

    If anyone knows the proper order of joystick replacement, please share.

    That is the shaft spacer. Without it the stick will sit to low in the panel. Slide the dust washer onto the shaft and then slide the shaft spacer on. Then slide the whole shaft into the base from the top. Once though place the actuator on top of the shaft that protrudes from the bottom of the base and use the clip to secure the actuator in place. Wa-la, your done.

    Ok, finally got the IL sticks i ordered from LL from like July, so i decided it was time to at least switch out the buttons LOL.

    The MK9 PDP is a BITCH to get into..the Klassic MK PDP..........is easy as pie!! The cam locks are in fact, fucking genius if you ask me. How?

    well, heres how:

    [IMG]

    That part of the cam lock that the pink arrow is pointing too needs to be pointing down, all 6 of them, take a larger flat head and make them all face down. Then pull off the button panel (all that is covered by the "pillow") and POOF! Your in there.

    no screws to fuck with. I did however break one of the plastic cam lock cover thingies. oh well.

    So both my PDP's have convex buttons, just like my AIAB. all is well. here is a pic of the Klassic MK PDP:

    Bonus points for who can tell me what else is different in that pic. :coffee:

    attaboy!

    since your sending me 2 blues, and i had a red for this, im gonna put red and blue on the cab, and use blue on this stick, thus, just reversing the color scheme. good eye bro, and again, THANK YOU!!

    I cant believe it took over a month to get these sticks tho. IL's are in high demand, especially the 2 colors i ordered, red and black!

    Yea red and black are impossible to find. I started just getting whatever color they had and then just reusing the stock shaft since they are identical anyway.

    Il PM you the tracking number for the package in the morning before I leave for work. Right now its beddy bye time lol

    Is Gamestop the only place selling these?

    I haven't seen a single one anywhere else besides the PDP website. Not even on eBay.
