With over 50 players, Mortal Kombat 9 at SCR is the biggest tournament we've seen in a while for the game -- and might be one of the biggest we see before The Fall Classic happens later this year. And with a number of players who had storied MK9 careers in attendance, including Vegas' MIT and DJT, Chicago's 16 Bit, Ohio's Forever King, and SoCal's Tyrant, Krayzie, and PBoard Player, one of the top questions on everyone's mind was how each player would adjust to their time spent away from the high-level majors scene.

After an intense back and forth between Denzell and 16 Bit in Top 8, a fierce mirror between PBoard and Forever King, a babalitied Kabal, and incredible comeback by DJT and several other tense and surprising matches, PBoard and Forever King found themselves in Grand Finals. And in a runback of a classic match we've seen multiple times before, PBoard was ready and in absolute top form as he methodically picked apart King's Lao and Cyrax at lightning speed to earn himself an incredibly significant and undoubtely satisfying win.

2) KIT Forever King (Kung Lao, Cyrax, Kenshi)

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
I can honestly say already, this was one of the most inspiring MK9 tournaments of all time. To see Pboard come back so strong after missing out on EVO's top 8 the way he did against Forever King was literally awesome. And just to see how much steeper everyone's ideas are is a small miracle within itself.

But what the fuck Cyrax players? You fools let Maxter and Han have a downplaying field day in the stream chat. :coffee: (j/k, you guys put on a great show too)

Salutations.

Mk9 definitely represented today. Great matches all the way through top 8 and a lot of close games.

You really got the impression that any of the top few players could make a run and win it. Jeff, King, Bit, and Denzell all made a case for being able to take it all; and it's a testament to PBoard's skill (which we've known for a long time, but always seems to come up just short in tournaments like these) that he came out on top.

Congrats PBoard :D
