Hey, guys. At last I went to my first offline tournament yesterday. It was held in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, so I had to take a 10 hour bus ride to get there. I gotta say, being at a tournament is awesome. There's been 43 entrants + some cheerers, which made more than 50 people. We played on 3 PS3's and a XBOX360. So I signed up and got randomed in the 6th pool (there were 8 pools of 5 players). So I had to win 4 times to get out. Of course I played Jade, by the way. First I fought a SZ which I beat, pretty good match, but I feel I could do better, and when I realized this, the guy (named zeee) counterpicked with Scorpion and raped me. At this moment I felt the first threat, but fortunately zeee got out of pools and got beaten by someone else and I didn't fight him again. Then I fought a Reptile, who was basically spamming a lot the dash, but he did play good. I beat this Reptile, then I beat a Noob player pretty easily, I guess the guy didn't have much experience with Jade because he kept throwing shadows, although whenever he had meter he used en-shadows, which took some life from me. And the last match I fought another Reptile, and this was the match to get out of the pool. We both had 2 wins each and we both had to win this to go further. The shit was crazy, the guy was a lot better than the other one, so we went to the last round and I don't remember clearly what was going on, definitely some random stuff, but I remember that we both had approx. 10% of life and were close to each other, so I did Glow, he slid at me and left me with almost no life and I shadow kicked him in the face. That was the hypest match I had so far. Ok, so I got out of the pools, went to top 16, beat a Sektor/Cyrax player, than a Mileena player (this guy took 3rd place later, named karfagen), so, I got in top 8. In between my matches I was watching others, you know, to see what I have to face. There was a really good Kabal player who was playing on a ps3 pad and doing iAGB's and dash-cancels extremely good, actually iAGB's were nearly perfect, then was when I saw the power of the goddam Kabal and feared of facing him, but he got beaten by a Kitana player, which didn't seem very threatening to me. I guess I was just biased towards Kabal. Anyway, here I am in top 8 in the winner's bracket, and, suprise, I get to fight the Kitana player that I talked about earlier. Well, he beat me real hard. The guy not only had zoning skills, but whenever he got close he pressured me. I have to say he played great, at some moments I was lost, didn't even know what to do, actually I knew I had to punish his cutter after a blocked d1, which I did 1 time out of 10 with an uppercut LoL, I even exclamated "At last!", and laughed. Anyway, the guy beat me, Gfc_AlekS was his name. So I went to losers' bracket. There I faced an Ermac player and got beaten hard, just because I kept jumping after he d4-ed me and forcelifted after. I got so angry at myself cause of falling time and time again for this shit, but the guy capitalized on my faults and deserved to win. So here's my story. Oh, yeah, 1st place was taken by a kid named nikitos_ua, he played a beastly Kung Lao. I think that if I had to face him I would have not reached top 8 LoL. I will put here links of videos later, there were some footage of my matches. In conclusion: offline experience is the shit, gotta learn Ermac more, that guy is hard for me for some reason, but generally match-up experience is crucial. Having the perfect tools doesn't grant victory. P.S. No Raiden, at least high level, also no rests with Cyrax nor Smoke seen in this tournament. Not 1 Jax player for some reason. I wish there were some of these for more match-up experience. I did play the winner and his KL in casuals after the tournament, I totally would've not got out of 16th if I faced him LoL
No doubt, you made a great job. I've read some comments about this tournament and there were many good words about you as a player and especially as a Jade representative, so i want to congratulate you on such a good result! I'm glad that 10 hour bus ride didn't stop you from being there Few words about the game. I think you know your own mistakes well, but i want to point out that any Jade player should be as safe as possible, in this case i'd suggest to avoid the uppercuts and b+1 after EN Glow because it can easily wiff and huge recovery will punish you hard. I like your wakeups, they helped you many times and i try to do the same. Thx for these games and for visiting this tournament, i'll go for a tournament here in Moscow on February 23 and if i can get to the top8 (i'm not sure if i can, but i'll try) you'll see my games too, and be sure that my Jade will be in 1st costume
Thanks man. I do realize my mistakes, a lot of whiffing, bad punishing, spacing not too good, b1 still gets me killed sometimes, though I like it I do play an aggressive/baiting Jade more often. Jade's uppercut is a beast, maybe not here but it's one of her best tools. When I glow I usually go for a b1 combo automatically, so yeah, I'll have to work on that. Thanks for the input. Good luck on your tournament.
it must be said good stuff! Your first post is very informative particularly. 23 Февраля надеюсь что ты войдешь в топы). с сеточкой главное повезло бы.
I like what i've seen so far. Just a few tips. As you've told me before cancel the b1s into a special. I noticed the use of b3,2. Very nice. It's great for spacing. I also play kitana, i wanted to say if they try to f2,1, you. if you space it right you can b3,2, them out of it. Along with spacing, i would suggest more b2, and more u3s.
Great job!! Your reactions are really good, may I suggest 3 into staff overhead it is a lot less risky from my experience, the damage is slightly lower, but it seems less reliant on jump ins, you did extremely well against those Kitana and Mileena players.Your matches were very entertaining as well and a ten hour bus ride is serious dedication.
Thanks man. I use b1 mostly because I cancel it into df2/df4 if blocked (well, at least I'm trying to ), but 3 starter is definitely what I should begin to incorporate in my game, I use it very rarely. The bus ride was not so bad given the fact that I rode at night and slept most of the time, but if the bus had a bed would've been the best.
He was baiting you to jump. Use f21 mixups to go in instead and when he crouches it, BAM combo Also in a situation where you see him jump at you like at around 2:00, use 2 to catch him out of the air and en overhead to pop him up into a combo.
Good job Prinz. I think the people here have covered most things, so I'll just say stick at it and congratulations. Mileenas ball can be punished with 3~Overhead into combo, and Telekick with D1, dash 12, 12, 4~special iirc. Always Low Block the Telekick if possible. Regardless you probably know this and it was just nerves. Good job. Tbh I'm very disappointed with how I played in the tourney, made lots of stupid mistakes, dropped most combos and punished things with Standing 1/D1 instead of full combo'ing (lol). I'll put it down to tourney nerves and learn from that tho. On the flip side I feel I played well in tonnes of casual matches I had in the hotel and at the event, unfortunately I think the only thing recorded was my shit representation in the tourney lol. I'll try to record some of my upcoming casual matches however.
Tbh, I'm not so proud of myself either. You can see I was just standing there and watching Mileena roll in the air and being blank on how to punish her the best, following with the best I could realize then - uppercut lol. But the experience was the most important. Also the guys were very impressed with my Jade, that's the most important to me.
ex db2, b2, 12 23f2,exdf2 is the most damaging thing you can do and then crossjump her for additional pressure.
Damn guys, sorry, but there's no good news for Jade players from my tourney. There were about 40 players, and the rules were - you have to play with 4 random opponents, then top8 players go to single elimination. I've lost 2 matches, 1 against insane reptile, it was just destruction, i can't even wakeup properly because he was flying like a rocket across the screen, and another one against kitana, only coz of my mistakes. Of course i didn't get to the top8 so i can't show you any recorded matches because only play-off was recorded I'm afraid than my online gameplay totally beats my offline
