I've been using this alot the last few weeks, a D4 acidhand afterwards seems pretty successful. I've all but cut 3 2 invis out of my game. Do you know if you're at advantage after D4 invis?

Holy christ I never realized you could dash out of the f3 1+2 animation. I feel so...dumb lol

That, and f3 also is an airborne attack, and goes over lows. :)

Im confused by your statement? What do you mean by dash out? how do you do it?

You can cancel some of the recovery of 1+2.

I think f3 may eventually become super important. If there's one thing peculiar about Reptile's command normals like b1, b4 and f3 have some interesting properties within them.

oh, then i knew about that. You could cancel that to do invisibility or triple dash. I thought he meant that he could cancel the f3

I've never heard of this, and I haven't seen anyone that's ever seen this.

You sure you read it correctly?

I re-read to make sure I read it right, because I'm prone to misreading stuff lol. But no, I read it right. I don't remember who brought it up...I think I may have, but likely not, but it definitely was discussed a good time ago.

I'm not a reptile player, but I just found it funny that looking in the "recent threads" thing on the forum homepage I see... "why are the pros so full of it?" and like two threads down I see a thread by a pro called, "Just sharing some of my lab stuff with Reptile"...

    lmao.

Anyway, good looking out THTB. :)

This is where I don't understand this game. Ex dash you are +5 but yet if you try to poke and they poke you'll lose. Shouldn't it mean that d3 become a 3 frame move how does it lose? Shit d1 should become a 4 frame move so wtf? Am I miss understanding something here? On the otg is +8 shouldn't d3 be a complete frame trap and guarnenteed as it becomes a 0 frame move? How can you jump out of it or a d1?

Is it safe on block because i know 1+2 doesn't come out unless f3 connects??

Seriously +8 and you do an EN Dash (5 frame move) how do you jump out of a move that the opponent is -3 on lol

    f3 is definitely safe.

EX elbow is +5, so the only basic low that will get stuffed is d4. You can't jump out of d1, and a followup elbow attempt is only escapable by jumping. With 2 bars, EX elbow on block presents a guessing game (Unless you have armor, of course). Do I stay grounded and have to deal with another EX elbow, or do I jump and risk getting juggled into EX forceball back into a reset? The only problem is obviously Reptile is otherwise too slow to take advantage of the +5 reliably, which isn't all that bad, tbh.

Now, the reset, elbow cannot be jumped out of, and d1/d3 will not land because Reptile is too far away for them to connect, so they can be jumped.

It all makes sense, don't worry.

People have been under-using Reptile's invisibility since UMK3. I too noticed it in MK9, but I'm not too familiar with the game so I never really said anything. It's definitely not as good as UMK3's invis (unless enhanced), but I see it providing some of the same advantages a full invis would.

Hey Thtb, I know you fought m2dave freddy kruger. Any suggestion on that match up man based upon that experience?

Hmm perhaps my execution is off, I've had d1 stuffed and jumped out of multiple times after a blocked EN dash. I've also had people jump out of an EN DASH after the OTG reset.... THTB you going to Yestercades Saturday?

Also what if you OTG them in the corner (would d3 and d1 or even d4 be unescapable?) or do they actually tech roll in the other direction like in training mode ??

Stay close. There should be no reason you'll try to get distance on him, obviously. It's very difficult to get in, though. Because Freddy is at double-digit disadvantage on blocked hell spike, he cannot attempt another hell spike to catch your elbow, if it's frame perfect. Your ticket in is through blocking these. Spit works okay at trading with Freddy, so if you can get spits started, you can bait him into using hell spike. Freddy has to burn meter to stay 100% safe vs you up close, since elbow punishes a lot of the things he does (hell spike, f421 regardless of what he does next, etc). Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure he cannot duck under your 1 and 2, which would allow you to take advantage of those normals after EX elbow.

This matchup is really hard, though. Getting in on Freddy is as nightmarish as Elm Street lol.

Rap, the EX elbow for sure is free. At +8 and elbow's last active frame at 13, you're looking at maybe elbow hitting on frame 7. And reset in corner will kick the opponent out. Also, I don't live anywhere near Long Island, so I wouldn't be able to go to Yestercades if I wanted to lol.

Must be my execution as I'm not doing it as soon as I touch the ground. I got the guranenteed d1 after EN Dash down though, I just mash the shit out of 1 while holding down during the EN Dash animation so it comes out nearly instantly lol, feels dirty :)

You're in OH right? Yeah wasn't sure if you were making the trip down. Maybe I'll catch you at Powerup if I can get my ass up there lol.

Technical question, why does it feel like d3 at times has great advantage and then others as if its never phased the opponent?

d1 and d3 fall into that category of quick animations where sometimes it's just plain difficult to react in time to it, and oftentimes exploiting the disadvantage is by mere accident.

I dont ever use down 3, i think its just bad. When you do d3, then 321. The first 3 misses (if ducked) and you get poked out. I personally think d1 is a better choice than d3

I like d3 because its recovery is nearly instant. d3 grab happens in a flash and I like d3 321 often.

The only time I use down three is to fram trap, for example I do 321 Ex elbow dash d3 acid hand, it's really good for that. I don't use it for much else though, it doesn't have a lot of range.
