From what i've seen he's very good at punishing predictable players with predictable moves, and that's part of that high level gameplay.
Foxy is good, but we want know how good he is when he meets us at EVO. I can't wait to play him. But yeah, Jax vs. KL could be 5.5-4.5 Jax or 5-5.
I don't buy that if you have a Jax player who plays as fast as EGP tyrant in your face pressur with all of jaxs pokes can you just spot out the F4 and punish it on reaction consistently, I think tom brady touched on that too in a bradycast. You had to been looking for it and if Foxy is constantly punishing your F4 I can only assume you are being to predictable with ur pressure or all the players I seen play Tyrant or CDjr jax with low hitbox chars that can punish F4 do not have Foxy reactions, but in the end its irrelevant. I will never see foxy play established jax players like Tyrant in the offline scene in the USA so its moot. I have seen Tyrant vs MIT cage, pboard lao, and CDjr vs maxter, reo, dizzy, tom cage, and a bunch of laos so I am going with the footage on the F4 stuff.
Jax still has F4-gotcha and F4-Ex OHS so he can keep that 9 frame low option vs low hitbox characters, the only thing he is losing is F41 mix-ups, While it is a good tool, Jax does have many more options.
The 2 main reasons that Cage is such a problem are his shadow kick and his 9 frame forward advancing normal thats 0 on block (F3), i have no problem armoring or poking out of Cage pressure as jax. None whatsoever, its just that damn F3 mix-up
You have to play defensive against cage because his f3 beats anything jax has in footsies (besides armour) and one of your biggest pressure options becomes void, that's my biggest problem. I agree interupting his pressure is easy with armour, but if he has xray you have to be oh so careful. Cage is going to be building meter so much faster than Jax too. I'm going to get blown up for this but I dont get the hype with f4xxgotcha, I'm not 100% but I think cage can still punish it or at least reverse the pressure game.
I dont agree with it being an 8-2 like Tyrant and CDJr say, 7-3 I can settle with.
i mostly agree, Cage's only pressure option is F3 (not like thats a big deal for him though)
i still personally think it might be 4-6 for jax, but since cage is so fail proof its probably always going to be 3-7 in reality
No, dive kick beats superman 99% of the time. You have to keep a nice distance and get in when you see a chance. Its a very hard MU to play and requires a lot of practice.
What are Jax's bad matchups besides Cage? Thanks.

that same strategy can be applied to sonya's wake up game using Jax can't it? I only get once a month to try shit out offline now, but online ive been able to beat her cartwheel kick using d4 then canceling into a elbow drop or dash punch.
Thanks. Can you provide a brief explanation as to why these are bad? I'm mainly using Jax to counter Cage's bad matchups, so I can just use Cage for the characters listed, but I'm still really interested in using Jax as a secondary.
Sektor MU: Jax can't zone Sektor, sektor can zone Jax. Sektor's low hitbox reduces Jax's pressure options. Sektor punishes gaps in the 123 and F413 strings with 45% (also highest punisher of the dash punch). Sektor has better footsy tools. 4-6
Johnny Cage: Punishes GPs on reaction with shadow kick, low hitbox creats a gap in the F413 string, can punish gaps in 123 and F413. overall, Jax can't pressure cage very well whereas Cage can. 3.5-6.5
Sonya: almost the same as Cage, Sonya is more punishable than cage and can be zoned more. 4.5-5.5 or (4-6) MU
Shang Tsung: Soul Steal checks negate any attempt at GP cancel mix-ups. Near equal pressure and corner game, Shang's zoning is effective, forces Jax to use more armor to get in rather than saving it to crush offenses. Must play very safe when Shang transforms, don't want to take an EX Dash Punch to the face with that damage boost . (4.5-5.5) or 4-6
Kung Lao: Same reasons as Cage except Lao can play alittle bit of keep-away and his pressure isn't as effective. 4-6
Freddy: Besides a somewhat risky 50/50 game freddy's pressure isn't all that great vs Jax, conversely Jax has all his pressure options available as well as his 12 hitting crouch block. Freddy's Zoning however is a real pain in the ass, Nighmare stance ducks under Dash Punch and Energy wave so getting in isn't easy plus pushing freddy into the corner isn't a very solid strategy due to his Ex-teleport allowing him to escape at any time.Freddy can also punish GPs with spikes on reaction. Overall, getting in isn't easy and freddy can get out with teleport at any time. (dont know the MU numbers for this one yet, probably 4-6)
how well does f4 xx gotcha shut down attempts by low hit box characters to stand up and punish f4 on block?
Also, I really like 2f2 mix ups against low hit box characters; as far as I can tell, although it will whiff on naked crouch, it hits the entire cast crouch blocking. I feel like that string is under used.
its - on wiff so you can lose your pressure if your opponent tries to poke you but jax's counter poke game is good enough for me not to care to much about that, you can't stand up and punish F4-Gotcha. The main way you want to use F4-gotcha is at F4s max range to counter pokes, its really just a footsy tool because of its ridiculous range
2F2 is underused and i don't know why, like you said it hits mid on all crouch-blocking hitboxes and its only 15 frames so its not like its too slow to string in after D3s and D4s. Heres some ways i use 2: 2F2-gotcha. 2F2, 21-ohs, 22-Ex EW, 22-gotcha (when 22 is blocked it creates puhsback so even if they duck the gotcha link you are still at footsy advantage with Jax)
Also, 2F2(B1) is hit confirmable by itself, you don't have to input Air Grab until you see B1 hit
Legend you are a god. KL isn't a bad match up for Jax since what made him good is pretty much god and Jax has a glitch throw on him too. Jax rapes him.
The glitch throw isn't going to happen in a match unless the kung lao player walks back and lets you throw him after throwing an EX hat, it's not matchup changing. I still think KL's mobility and low hitbox make it tough for Jax.
Can someone explain how Kabal loses to Jax? I can completely zone him out and against a decently played Kabal who can perform all cancels and iAGB with pretty good execution I have trouble with Jax. Jax is one of my three mains along with Kabal and Sektor.
Well Kabal pressure doesn't lockdown jax and he has ways to interrupt it and his energy wave is going enough to screw up the timing of instant fireballs.
What do you guys think of Jax-Kenshi? 5-5?
