What's new

Injustice has only 6 months left to be relevant. What do you plan to accomplish before April 2015?

@CrimsonShadow mk9 has issues, but all fighting games do. I am pretty sure u are aware of marvel and the balance problems in that game, da glitches, da infinites, unblockables, and etc. yet they are one thing our community isn't much overall.... loyal. When I see a community like smash getting like 1k at evo and bringing their game back to life, that is quite an effort and I respect that. I understand the netcode thing, but fighting games in general have pretty bad online. I hate how we can't just support our games, have fun, and bring the hype. Threads like this should never have to be made, but until our community decides to stay loyal to our games, threads like these will keep showing up #YEEAAAPPP
To add to what MITDJT said. Smash doesn't even have NETPLAY to begin with. But somehow they were able to revive their scene. Manage to have some of the most hype at an EVO. So I don't really feel that this is an excuse. It's just the NRS community is either stingy or lazy when it comes to travel. But if your passionate about your game. You will go above and beyond for what you love. Hell if you guys haven't seen. Watch the Smash Bros documentary to see the passion they have for that game. They did whatever it took to make that the game they would play to this day in 2014. They probably will STILL be play all through Smash Bros for the Wii U/3DS.

Every game has it's issues. Every game claims they are more balanced then the next fighting game until a year or two down the road and then they discover top tiers, the cheap tactics. Eventually it just kills the hype yes. But if it's killing the hype or people stop playing the game. Perhaps it's up to the NRS community to figure out what is killing the desire to play their games and fix it. I don't mean balance it. I mean ban a stage, ban a character. I mean in the end the game is all about fun. But the game no longer becomes fun if there is no one there left to play it.

Smash and Capcom has both proven they are titans of a game. Not because of their games. But because of their passion to fight through their problems and or fix them themselves. They don't whine to their developers. They just shut up and fix it themselves. This is why when I watch these games on streams it's entertaining. Injustice all I hear on commentary now is "The numbers are low, I don't play this game anymore, etc". So let's see NRS step up to the plate and fix the game yourselves.

I think I already mentioned this, but smash players banned a lot of stuff from the game. They have gone as far as to ban characters, or ban a lot of stages, tactics, etc. They did this to keep the game competitive and fun. A lot of things that were broken or unfair were simply prohibited in the rules.

If they hadn't, they probably wouldn't be in this situation today. But the NRS community isn't willing to do that for MK9 because everyone has the "deal with it" mentality, so it's a bad comparison.

Hardcore players and players of high mid to top tier are willing to Deal With it, but most other players and pot monsters are not. So this is what you get; numbers go down until it's just a few hardcore players that are willing to participate when they have the chance.

Also Smash operated outside of the FGC rather than within it. They weren't in the core circle of majors like we are, and they weren't prioritizing EVO, etc. and the events our players idolize and build their year around. Most of our players are FGC fans or have come up in the FGC tradition, so our conditions are a bit different. If we want numbers, we have to focus on involving and attracting people in the broader of the FGC rather than alienating them. Which means we will still have to stack up well against other games.

Like I said though, if MKX is very solid, it could be the beginning of a new tradition for us. I'm optimistic and I'm looking forward to see what the future brings.

I want to finally find a character that I can stick with and drop Shazam's garbage ass. Also I want to actually not be terrible at injustice.

I actually agree with both of you guys. In the case of Melee, the rules came out of a logical necessity - do everything possible to make the game as fair and competitive as possible. Obviously, choices like banning ridiculous stages and turning off items are easy moves.

MK9 was/is a great game, and I love it, but it really suffers from some awful balance issues that stem from not giving everyone a base set of tools. NRS fixed this in Injustice, and it has made the game much better... there is a top tier, but a majority of the cast is competitively viable if you're good with your character. Just look at the top 8 at Evo this year. In MK9, things like selectively handing out armor makes it brutal to play certain characters who dont have it.

Melee to me feels more like Injustice than MK9, which is why it’s still an awesome game, and why it has been able to sustain itself. There is certainly the high tier (fox, falco, sheik, marth, jiggly, peach), but at least every character has access to a universal set of system mechanics to help them, like air dodges, L canceling, ledge canceling, etc.

I think it’s why we’re now seeing dedicated character specialists shaking things up and making serious noise. Axe with Pikachu, friggin’ Amsa with YOSHI!... and I think that THAT will keep the keep Melee going even stronger.

A well-documented secondary issue with the whole “Injustice is toast once MKX comes out” thing is that this community for some reason doesn’t seem to like playing more than one game at once, but that’s another can of worms.

LBSH a lot of people were just playing Injustice while the new MK was being worked on :3
It may have started that way, but I feel that the game is good enough that community should keep playing Injustice and MKX. MKX will, of course, completely murderize MK9.

What I'm most fearful of. That history will repeat itself in Mortal Kombat X. At the beginning like every fighting game. We will claim the game is balanced. A year or two down the road we will see the broken stuff. Then we will look for the next game and again the numbers will dwindle from MKX.

As for Smash being outside the FGC. Honestly maybe the NRS community can stand to attempt to do something like that. Not remove ourselves completely. But slowly try something new for events. I know I know everyone will say I'm foolish for even fathoming the idea. But events such as KIT being brand new events and seeming to cater towards Injustice and overall love for NRS games. Why can't more events like this occur for the NRS community? The NRS community has a tendency to shit on each others regions instead of supporting. I remember a while back a post was made to promote for NWM (Northwest Majors) and we were hoping to get some big names there. But instead Sonic Fox just posts that it's a glorified regional instead of helping us support. People read that the EVO champion says statements like that and automatically people will see NWM or any other tournament as a trash event. With things like this it really hurts our community to grow.

KIT was a huge jolt for the Injustice scene. It also promoted the hell out of KIT. I just want to see the community grow. Whatever it takes. Don't let the game we love or loved fall off the map simply because a new game shows up. Agree on something so we can all continue to play these games we enjoy. Plus we always here about tech and things we may not have discovered until we put more time into it. There are times where you can play a new game such as MKX and come back to play MK9 or Injustice and realize something COMPLETELY new that you can add to an old matchup.

A lot of other FG scenes actually do much like the NRS community. The main difference, though, is they usually only have 1 series to go by. NRS community is weird in that the next game from NRS = death of previous game, regardless of the series it's in. Which is why I would like to see Injustice played post-MKX release (though not on the side tourney state that MK9 endured). However, with how the numbers are now, I can see it's unlikely.

Still waiting for someone to prove that Killer Frost is actually viable
you KF downplayers...bottom 5 aren't viable but that's it. KF is higher tier than lex but you don't see lex players complaining...her nerfs where over a year ago and the fact that 90% of frost players dropped her like scorpion players did instead of adapting shows how bad some character communities actually are...

I feel like there is nothing else I can accomplish in Injustice because there will never be another huge tournament that everyone attends. Like, I don't think placing at a regional tournament really matters at this point. If I had gone to WCW and placed, I would not have proven anything to myself. As far as I am concerned the game is already finished.
