Bout to get real up in here!
With Max on vacation in Florida you might think this week's GBS would be light on top level talent. You would be wrong because after being absent for months NEC 2013 Champion and 2014 Evolution finalist Pimpimjim made his anticipated return. Perhaps more shocking than his return was his character choice. Leaving Hawkgirl grounded he decided to come back with an alt but it wasn't Lex Luthor, Shazam or even an old pick like Zatanna or Joker...this week was the debut of PPJ's CYBORG. This wasn't Cyborg's first appearance at a GBS but it was certainly the most flashy with 40% combos and liberal use of Techo Tackle. The cybernetic organism managed a 3rd place finish, defeating Jim and Saucy Jack before losing to my Catwoman and a runback with Jim in losers finals.
Jim had the best week of his GBS career reaching grand finals for the first time. He was sent to losers first round in a close 3-2 loss against the returning PPJ but ran through the losers bracket, first surviving Rising Dragon's 70% combos, before defeating Truth's Black Adam, Saucy's Harley and finally winning a rematch against Cyborg to earn a spot in the grand finals. Unfortunately for James the grand finals didn't go so well for him. Unable to get anything going poor Barry Allen was overwhelmed and quickly beaten 3-0.
Jeremiah announced on TYM that he was picking up "the best character in the game", The Flash. Although his Flash wasn't ready and he stuck to Aquaman this week he was seen playing casuals with Jim and rooted for his fellow speedster the entire tournament. Will Jeremiah make good on his word and debut his Flash soon and how will GBS deal with two players tapped into the speed force?
Saucy Jack used Superman first round but then made a surprise switch to Harley Quinn for the rest of the tournament. Narrowly losing to Cyborg he continued to use Harley in losers, managing to overcome the difficult Aquaman match up against Jeremiah. Was this a one off appearance for Ms Quinzel or has Ken finally found his waifu?
