Guide Get OFF ME! (Reflect Guide)

I didn't see a thread made for this and I figured it would really help out. Game is new and all and not sure about most of you, but I don't know every single move that reflects and doesn't, so I thought I would start off with what I know is not reflectable (HUGE thanks to DaiHuu and Hydro!)


Below is a list of moves he CAN reflect:

Baraka's fireball
Cyrax bombs (absorb only)
CSZ Ice Ball
Ermac's fireball
Goro's fireball
Jade's shurikens
Jax's sonic wave
JC's shadow ball
Kabal's purple ball
Kabal's low saw (absorb only)
Kano knife
Kintaro's fireball
Kitana's x-ray (deflects it)
Kitana's fans
Kung Lao's low hat
Kung Lao's hat
Liu Kang's fire
Millenna's Sai
Nightwolf's arrow
Noob's clones
Quan chi's fireball
Raiden's electricity (Even Ex)
Reptile ball
Reptile spit
Sektor missiles
Shao Kahn's arrow
Scarlet's sais
Shang Tsung's skulls/fireballs
Sheeva's fireball

nori i recall seeing a NW player at power up reflecting/absorbing reptile's spit all day long. maybe it is just a timing issue?

That's interesting. I was basing that off the Tom Brady NW guide but I'll test it out tonight myself. This is the post

"reflects most projectiles back to the opponent. will not work on some projectiles such as Sub-Zero freeze or KL hat throw. will not work vs some normal projectiles such as any of Noob's, Cyrax net, etc.. when reflecting moves like Noob's projectiles, while you wont send the projectile back at him, you will gain meter for doing the reflect while not taking damage from the projectile."

The EX reflect absorbs ALL projectiles?


I want to main Shang but he sucks horribly against (insert teleport char). For tourneys, NW/Reptile

Is this a list of things he CAN reflect? And since I'm sure you have been playing NW a little longer than me, what's up w/Reptile? I read in Brady's guide he cannot reflect spit, yet Lobo said he saw it at powerup. Can you clarify?

Yes that is what he can reflect, and he can reflect the spit, I've done it numerous times against Reptiles.

and what freeze are you talking about? His ice ball? You can do it easily.

I was basing the freeze/spit ball/kung lao's standing hat off my first post, which came from the tom brady guide. I guess my question now is, is there anything he CAN'T reflect?

Can't reflect:
Noob's clones
Cyrax net
Scorpion spear (I actually haven't tested this yet, he might be able to deflect it)
Cyrax/CBZ bombs (Haven't tested this either)
Smoke's otg projectile
Kabal's ground projectile
Stryker's pistol

That's about it.

You sure about not reflecting the pistol i swear i have done this.

Updated first post. I know you can reflect KL's low hat, but what about his regular hat throw?

I think you misread his guide, TB says you cannot reflect the ex versions of those respective moves, you can reflect Kung lao's regular hat throw

and one more thing, you can reflect the stryker pistol, even the ex version.

Seems I misread it then, oops. And thanks for confirming the Stryker pistol/EX pistol. For some reason it's not letting me edit the first post w/this new info

Is Cyrax's EX bomb reflectable?

Yes it is.

One thing, he can only reflect Cyrax's ex bomb, not CBZ's or the normal one, and he can't reflect/deflect Scorpion's spear

Just one minor thing I noticed, put a (can deflect) after Noob's clones, so newer plays won't get confused and end up not using reflect vs Noob.

Good thread! A few things I thought I saw left out:

Sub's Ice Ball is reflectable, EX Ice Ball (Freeze) is not. Both can be absorbed AFAIK. Same deal for Cyber Sub.

Jade's Boomerang is reflectable, but I couldn't get the low one to reflect.

Sektor's Flamethrower is not reflectable AFAIK. Not sure about absorb.

Kung Lao's EX Hat Throw is not reflectable.

Shang Tsung's regular Skull (horizontal) is reflectable, and I believe all are absorbable. Pretty sure you can't reflect the ground or top skulls.

Sheeva's fireball is reflectable.

Kratos' arrows are reflectable, not that it matters competitively.

Kintaro's flame breath is not reflectable AFAIK. Not sure about absorb.

Very much not 100% on most of that, so further testing would probably be a good idea. Just thought I'd point out any I didn't see listed in the OP.

Yeah, I'll try to test them tonight. Only one that's a pain is Kintaro.

Edit: my practice buddy isn't able to help me out tonight, so I probably won't get these confirmed until tomorrow night at earliest.

Kunglao's ex hat is not reflectable, with ex you can absorb
Both Jade's projectiles are reflectable and absorb able
Sektor's flamethrower is not reflect nor absorb able
Shang's ground and top projectiles are reflect and absorb able
Sub and Cyber Sub zero's ice ball can be reflected and absorbed, their ex can only be absorbed.
