While the move really doesn't seem to have a whole lot of use (most smart players will predict a teleport); I noticed that you can quickly cancel in and out of this by doing d,d,u,d,d in rapid succession. You can also use an airblast to build more meter or teleport. Thoughts?

I also found another scenario that this may be applicable in. When close to your opponent you can hover slam, hit them with a airblast (this will confuse the hell out of them), perform a dash F114 or crossup B114 into a TKS, throw or more pressure strings.

Yeap its really good for building meter or doing after a successful TKP to build some meter when the opponent is sent fullscreen. And as you correctly said you can use air blast after hover up close to create some space against your opponent, since when blocked it knocks back the opponent, and for mixups if the air blast hit confirms.

EDIT : Just dont overuse it against characters that have wake up teleports cause you ll get punished :)

Yea teleport during hoverslam is huge risk/reward. If you bait the jump def go for the teleport. I mainly cancel the move tho. Also if I feel like takin a risk wit teleport itll mainly be when I have meter to break in casecthey catch me

I've been wondering if it was worth using after a blocked B114.

Hover slam~airblast/TP, perhaps...yes. At least in terms of meter building, the airblast should hit in the corner, though.

edit: Wow, I found something very interesting. Hover slam can be buffered while in block, if you release block right before pressing up Ermac will perform it. This potentially means free 8% unblockable damage and the ability to interrupt your opponent's string with an air teleport. EX HS appears to be far less of a gamble.

    Gamble:
    HS~TP, JIP(over opponent), B114~TKS, dash, 22~xray - 57%
    HS~TP, JIP(over opponent), B114~TKS, JIK~TP, 12~TKP - 45%

Herp, derp, after Teleport hits standing opponent Ermac doesn't have guaranteed 31~Lift, the opp can block any string you throw out, TP grants only safejump (just like Scorpion's TP). Hitting airborne enemy with timed HS~TP gives a juggle of 36% (AA TP, j.K~TP, d1~Lift ff b12f1 ff Push).
But IMO the whole discussion is kinda useless - Hover slam doesn't lead to any decent mind games, only really retarded player will fall to HS~TP trap more than twice (even if it is his first contact against Ermac).Additionally, when Hover slam hits we're negative on frames :| If you want to build meter with Hover slam~cancel it'll take about second (around 60 frames) to perform it - you could do two instaAirBlasts in that time. Buffering after blocked strings? Use Force Blast, it builds the same amount of meter, gives 2% of chip and is relatively safer.
b114~Hover Slam~AirBlast near wall? Yes, it could work, but only on standing opponent. What if he's crouch blocking? He'll uppercut the shit out of 'Mac...
You can also do safe Hover Slam cancel on opponent's fullscreen knockdown (i.e after juggle ended with Force Push) but again - what for? You could just do iAB which'll come out faster in terms of building meter, do Fireball to check them standing up or Teleport right near them to start wakeup mindgames - all of these are better than hovering.

The only situation when Hover slam is really safe and guaranteed is Ex Hover slam after hit 312 - opp cannot jump out of it so we get guaranteed 8%, but... 312 gives us safe jump opportunity, j.P b114~ExForceBlast uses also 1 meter, but grants us 11% of chip, without meter 9% (and 45% if the enemy opp finds that he doesn't feel like holding block :D ).

TL;DR: It's fun to trololo with Buttslamming, but on high level play if you wanna live, Don't. Use. That.

That is correct, the Hover Slam can be cancelled and helps to build meter. You can also alternate between slamming into the ground during the hover or go into the Forceport (d + b + 4). This will make them choose whether to stay on the ground or jump.

I don't think I ever tried mixing the Hover Slam cancel into his pressure, though. I usually use just his 3 1, his 3 1 2, throw, f4, or cross-up into pressure. I'll give it a test and see how it looks.

The easies way for opponent to avoid it? Keep stand blocking and jump only on reaction to falling unblockable, even if Ermac tries to delay the teleport, opp can wait for it and react to buttslam with ease, their animation (Falling and Teleport) are quite different :p

So there isnt seem to be a point in using it outside of range or to test the opponent s patience.

You can be punished by a full combo even if the hover slam hits though if the opponent dashes in first
