9-1s do exist in this game

    9-1's for Kabal? That's harsh.
    8-2's? Absolutely.
There are characters in this game that simply were not meant to deal with a full-speed Kabal.

Wow, i've never had so many likes for a post before, but it gets deleted, and this flame baiting thread is still here?

    Just wow.

m2Dave has taken REO up on his offer. Shouldn't this be a done deal now?

There is never a bad time for senselessly quoting Anchorman.

    "I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT"

So REO, if you had to say, who would be the select few that should never, in any universe, attempt to face Kabal?

    What?

how does an 8-2 or 9-1 matchup make the game not fun and competitive anymore? Have you tried Sub-Zero vs Kenshi/Kabal/Kung Lao? Those are horrible matches... yet... I'm still playing. This game is freaking fun man!

I'll be playing this until another MK comes out!!!

    It's easily Jade or Sub-Zero.

You'll notice I said if true as opposed to taking their word for it.

I do matches such as Jade v.s. Kenshi, which is just as bad for Jade as it is for Sub-Zero according to most Jade players. I also play Sheeva v.s. Kung Lao, which is very bad for her too.

I play characters that have no matches in their favor in the entire game, not just a couple matches.

You are aware that I'm still playing too right? The point is such a lopsided balance scale is not competitive nor exciting, if this game was more balanced it would inherently be more exciting because people would play more unique characters at tournaments which is more hype and intrigue for the game.

I play bottom tier characters, and I'm 100% okay with that, I'm not a fan of radically scewed matches, that is all. I don't think anybody can seriously blame me for not being a fan of the prospect of 8-2 and 9-1 matches. I don't even believe in anything under 7-3, but whatever.

Also, I'm picking up several new characters from the "trash" collection to try and do something good with them. I see what others think is trash and try to make it better.

I'm a diehard for my characters, but like I said I'm not a fan of radically scewed imbalance, but I will still continue to play my characters.

If lopsided matchups meant everything to how fun a game is, ST and 3S, along with a host of other games would really not be fun and the FGC would've died a long time ago.

It's great that you play low tier characters! There's few things more fun to me in this game than running across a Jade, Sheeva, Stryker, etc in ranked or w/e. Those matches are always exciting b/c I rarely get to play against those fighters whereas... there's about 2103935 kabals out there and it's always the same... Iagb, Iagb.

Being a lopsided match isn't going to make you stop playing your characters, so it shouldn't really matter and IMO there are definitely some matches in this game that are worse than 7-3. It only makes the game less exciting when everyone is playing the same character. That's why I'm always rooting for the Jeremiahs, Detriots, and Tom Bradys.

I guess my point is... having bad matchups doesn't make the game less than we thought it was.

IDK about Kano at all, but Kabal v Sheeva has to be a 7-3 or worse. I'm inclined to say worse.
The match-up plays out very similarly to Zangief v Akuma (3-7) in SF with Gief desperately trying to get in. Sheeva has the punishable tele-stomp, Gief the punishable Banishing Flat. Gief also has a projectile immunity special which Sheeva lacks and his throws are unblockable with insane priority meaning once he gets in, he can really bring some hurt.
Sheeva just doesnt do enough damage in general, imo. Add to that the fact that the block infinite is easier to perform on her than anyone else (giant hitbox). Of course that's all on paper.

Looks A LOT like an 8-2.

My comments that didn't derail the thread got deleted too for some reason.

It doesn't mean everything, but why are you guys missing the point? A more balanced game is more hype and exciting than a game that is highly lopsided and unbalanced. Is this a logical conclusion or not on my part?

The game hasn't become unfun or horrible, I haven't argued that and I don't think there are 8-2 or 9-1 matches.

You posted earlier in the thread saying this game is finished. That's more of a a nail in the coffin for this game than me saying it's not as fun or exciting anymore if there truly are 8-2 and 9-1 matches (which I'll reiterate that I don't believe there are anyway).

Having bad match ups is apart of every fighting game, I have no issues with that at all, that's not the point I was making.

It matters to me because for the benefit of this game competitively, it would thrive more with greater balance, this isn't even about me as a player right now. I want this series to move forward in a positive way like all you guys do, so while the game might still be fun, it should still move forward and be immensely balanced for next game. I'm not asking for my characters to be top or even mid tier, all I want is MK10 to be great and very balanced to the point that such lopsided matches aren't in the game.

Jerimiah and Tom Brady have my respect for playing their characters in hard matches where it matters and not just when a match is in their favor.

I'll tell what's going on here. REO is either scared of something or trying to scare the rest before EVO. Either you choose to take your main against him, which are all 6-4 or worse, or change now to Kabal and never reach his level till EVO - you are all fucked cause he's the man.
Oh yeah, and Jade vs Kabal is still 9-1.

I dont think so. There's really not much else Sheeva could do and GGA Jeremiah had just beaten Cat (another Kabal player) the game before this.

But maybe so. I just fail to see how he could have done anything differently.

Keep in mind I have literally zero Sheeva experience and that my Kabal is way better now than it was months ago. Any Sheeva player who wants to challenge my match up score can play me at tournament.

OK. I will proudly collect my $20 in front of all of your friends.

Just pray you don't lose to me 10-0. I would feel very uncomfortable thinking the match up may be worse than 9-1.

The problem isn't even the vast advantage of the matchups.

The problem is that, unless you have a VSM/EGP/GGA/ATL/WNBA or some means of steady, leveled up offline competition/training regiment, or the most pristine, unfuckwithable online connection in the history of Edenia and training partners with similarly pristine means, you're never gonna learn to deal with shit like this right.
There's no AI that can play Kabal like Reo, Jax like Junior/Tyrant, Kenshi like Pig, etc...and even if you did have a flawless setup, the odds of you becoming a top-tier competitor solely by the bones of online are slim to none. For every Curbo, Mr. Mil, Death and so on who managed to succeed, how many others are out there who've failed?

    That's just my opinion. Idk.

This might not be the matchup, also a player with more skills and knowledge can make the matches look, bad or worse,
everytime you see someone getting blown up you only believe is the matchup, believe more in the players players players players

Very, very good point. And you are 100% correct. Looking at it, though. It seems like both were doing what they could, and I dont think anyone would argue that these two are te best there is with thier respective characters.

But yeah, player skill obv makes a huge difference. Hell, give CD Baraka and give me Kitana and I'd still get demolished ^_^ lol

My post was a joking remark. I really wasn't serious lol.

ST was and still is hype, and there are so many lopsided matches in that game. Balance has very little to do with the fun of a game. Same with Marvel. TTT wasn't balanced, yet it is probably the best Tekken to date.

History shows the relevance balance has to a game's longevity.
